Report: Milan want to close a deal for Veretout by Tuesday, the latest offer is €15m plus Biglia for the midfielder

Milan continue to pursue Jordan Veretout and have improved their offer.

Rade Krunić and Ismaël Bennacer are arriving from Empoli for €8m and €16m plus bonuses respectively, but Maldini, Boban and Massara are looking for more reinforcements in midfield, and the Viola’s Jordan Veretout seems to be a priority.

Fiorentina have already confirmed that Veretout has requested to leave the club and even asked not to join the club’s pre-season training for ‘personal reasons’. Earlier on Friday, however, the two sides found a compromise on his immediate future: Jordan will attend Fior’s get-together in Moena, but Fiorentina have promised him to resolve his future quickly.

As reported by Alfredo Pedullà of Sportitalia, Milan have improved their offer for Veretout and are now offering €15m plus Lucas Biglia (as opposed to €13m plus the Argentine). The feeling is that a deal can be reached, even without Biglia in whom Fiorentina have shown interest. Should no players be included in the deal, Pedullà believes that €20m plus bonuses could be enough.

Pedullà claims that there were new contacts between Paolo Maldini and Fiorentina’s director of sport Daniele Pradè and that Milan want to close the deal by Monday or Tuesday. Updates are expected.

Yes, please close this deal ASAP and get Dennis Praet next. Milan midfield will have better players that can dribble and create chances for our strikers. If Giampaolo can make a 36yr old Quagliarella capocannoniere in Serie A then I can’t even imagine what he will do with Piatek. Offload Biglia as he’s no use. He’s old and have too many injury problems for a player with a big salary. Another poor signing by mirabelli and Fassone as Torreira or Pulgar would have been a more sensible and cheaper buy back then. I hope Milan keep Kessie though. He is… Read more »

1. Kessie is a braindead, muscle head who was 0 football intelligence and makes tons of mistakes all the time and during these 2 seasons he shows 0 improvements. I’d rather we swapped him for Torriera or Neves even if it means adding another 20M. 2. We should follow Zico’s advice that guy knows what kind of player Paqueta is, which is mezz’alla not trequartista. With Paqueta/Krunic on one side and Chalha/Bona on the other Veretout is unnecessary, plus we can’t bench him like empoli duo and he’s not good enough for starting 11. 3. With current market CM is… Read more »

I disagree about Kessie. He was one of our best midfielders over the past two seasons along with Bakayoko.

Kessie passing in the final third and shooting needs to improve and I believe Giampaolo can get the best out of him. If he improves in this area he will be like a rebirth of Clarence Seedorf. Milan should definitely keep him.

Zaniolo would be nice but both him and Chiesa will likely end up at Juventus eventually although maybe not this season.

Deku

The current situation dictates that Zaniolo shouldn’t be ignored, we have money(salary-wise) and resources to get him.

Gman

Rebirth of Seedorf? If you knew anything about Seedorf or players like him is that their intelligence has always been there and not something thought after they reached 23+yrs. You cant just say a player is the new Seedorf only because of skin color, that is ridiculous.

15 million +Biglia for Veretout would be a good deal for Milan….Carry on dear Maldini

Raven

Biglia’s wage is certainly a problem, the management should tell him to look for another club, hia physique won’t improve and 3.5m is way too much for a bench player, very close to what Bona and Suso are actually getting.

Ted

Milan is reportedly again inquiring about Mancini from Atalanta. While Roma still remain in pole, Milan could try and hijack the deal. There’s also Laxalt that is interesting to Atalanta and they could work something out hopefully. I just don’t wanna see Lovren for 20 millions + bonuses, that would be a total waste of budget

MilanForEver

Lovren 30 y/o, 15-20m and is madness.

nick

I’m not too excited about Lovren either. Too bad we couldn’t close the deal on Manolas but Mancini has been really good for Atalanta and he is younger. Better option in my opinion.

dejan10

Yes, make this happen, Paulo. I’m officially stimulated about next season. Wait, that came out wrong…

Milanista121

Veretout would be nice, but will still go for Praet even if we sign him? We will have an entirely new midfield if thats the case. Does it mean someone other than Biglia Will leave?
We absolutely must not sell Kessie. We have no one with his characteristics, and im curious to see what Giampaolo can do with him. He has everything, just the decision making that is lacking atm, he is young after all.

nick

Dennis Praet and Veretout is an absolute must buy. Kessie is young as you mentioned and he can still improve. He will likely stay along with Suso and Cahanoglu. Suso might be used as a 2nd striker and or a trequartista. If Milan has to sell another midfielder I would rather it be Castellijo who has been rather disappointing. I honestly believe that Milan will offload both Castellijo and Biglia. This is why we are linked with Veretout, Praet and Neves. We already have Krunic and Bennacer wrapped up. So it makes sense that so many midfielders are still being… Read more »

We already bought the buck ups now we’re luking starter 2 players are candidates Jordan vertoroat and gedson farnandes i prefer gedson because he is beast and in 2 years he will be world class

Alexmilan

Bennacer will be a starter !

Deku

We have Benaccer, Krunic, Bona, Paqueta. we need 4 more for total of 8 players for 4 positions. If Suso, Chalha, Kessie stay and Veretout comes, there will be no balance what so ever and defenitely no place for a real solid midfielders like Praet and Neves. Empoli duo are defenitely bechwarmers, who would the other 2 be? Do you think Veretout would leave Fiorentina to sit on the bench next season??? We have no CDM except Benaccer the priority should either be Neves or Torriera and another high quality midfielder like Praet/Zaniolo/Isco/De Paul…. Kessie brings nothing to the table,… Read more »

Alexmilan

You have Bennacer, Krunic, Jack, Hakan, Paqueta and Kessie. All of them excepting Kessie could make the trequartista, including Suso, all of them can make the mezzala. In my oppinion we need another regista and it’s enough. Veretout can play regista. If they bring Veretout and another midfielder, Kessie will leave !

yourBoss

Curious to see what the coach will do with Kessie? Offloading him I guess. Have you guys not heard that Giampaolo doesn’t need a Kessie characteristic in his team?? And his decision making is not expected to improve much ,even in 20yrs

Baresis Dream

For the life of me, I can’t understand why half the top teams are chasing this seemingly decent-but-nothing-special midfielder. It’s either –
1. I missing something the experts can see.
2. The hype is generated by his agents and reporters.

He’s worth the 15-20 million I guess, but I’m far from excited.

Milanellofm

Also not excited about this deal. Maybe I’m missing something, maybe he will really impress. But why are we willing to overspend for a guy who is above average?

nick

Unbelievable. You guys are missing a lot not just something. I’m no expert but I’m at a lost as to how you guys can consider players like Bennacer, Hernández and Veretout as average players. Smh

Milanista121

I dont rate Theo highly either tbh. He has potential but thats it. I know nothing of his defensive abilities, Only that he is speedy. From what ive read and seen he is mostly speed. Rare end product, poor positioning and rash in his tackling. RR staying is a must, so Theo can take his time to adapt and learn from one of the top fullbacks in the League.

nick

He was very good at Real Sociedad especially against big teams in la Liga. He also scored against Barcelona. I’m always curious about the players Real Madrid sign or show interest in. They have a very good scouting team. A good coach can help him develop as there was no room for him at Madrid. RR might be on his way out as well since Milan is also pursuing Mitchell Dijks from Genoa for LB. I don’t think Giampaolo thinks highly of RR for his style of play. Not sure but we’ll see if he stays and if he remains… Read more »

Guys i Think Veretout is a very good player. BUT, i would be over the moon if we would sign Neves instead. He’d be the perfect puzzle piece added to our midfield. Kessie-neves-whoever plays here. Our midfield would be complete.

Wasp

I would say we are again buying suspect quality players! I hope the new coach knows what he is doing! Ceballos, Torreira or Neves are players that would make the Milan game up to a higher level. I’m sorry we have big problems to bring such quality! Kessie did not make any progress in two years and I doubt that such a player will play with Giampaolo!

Deku

Love that i’m not the only sane person here, who are happy with these average players. We need solid players as well. Neves and Praet would make this Mercato complete.

Ted

With Veretout in and Biglia out this midfield would be a bit out of balance imo.

Regista: Bennacer
Mezzala/Att. Mid.: Hakan, Jack, Krunić, Paqueta
B2B: Kessie, Veretout

Giampaolo never exercised using real b2b midfielders in his formations but rather mezzalas, wide playmakers who can also play behind two strikers so Kessie and Veretout are waste imo.

Still missing one regista, a starter such as Torreira or Neves.

CGT

Jordan Veretout is a dynamic mid-fielder who can play both as a regista & a Mezella. He played both roles well with Florentina this season, check the stats. He might not be world class but he’s a very good midfielder. Wonder why Arsenal, Napoli, Roma, Lyon & Giampaulo are so pressing hard for him.? Very tenacious, great tackler, pinpoint long & short passes & he’s cheap…..

Donadoni

Getting rid of Biglia would be a bonus in itself, even if the French guy is hardly an enthralling mid purchase.
