Gonzalo Higuaín is not available for tomorrow’s game so one of Fabio Borini and Patrick Cutrone will take his role at the center of the attack.
The striker found the target in each of the last three Milan games, but El Pipita will not play for the Rossoneri against Empoli tomorrow as the doctors preferred to keep him at Milanello due to an injury.
“Higuaín has got a flexor issue that’s bothering him. It’s an old injury, we’ll evaluate him tomorrow. We left him in peace in the last 3 days and tomorrow we’ll see,” coach Gennaro Gattuso told the press earlier today. But the evaluation was made today instead of tomorrow and it’s been decided that Gonzalo will not travel with the squad to Tuscany, after being initially included in the list of called-up players.
Higuaín played in all the games so far and has proven to be instrumental. Therefore, Milan do not want to take risks with his condition and have left him out for precautionary reasons. And so, Gattuso will have to do without him tomorrow at Stadio Carlo Castellani (21:00 CEST kickoff). The timing is problematic, however, as Patrick Cutrone only returned to training today and may not be 100% fit.
Should Cutrone not be able to play from the first minute, Fabio Borini will be used as the striker in a 4-3-3. The ex-Liverpool man was tried in training today as the man between the wingers.
