Gabriel’s contract has been terminated and he joined Serie B’s Perugia.
Gabriel arrived to Milan in 2012 from Cruzeiro and never really managed to cement his place in the starting XI of the Rossoneri, making just 7 appearances.
The contract of the player was due to expire in June 2019 and yesterday his agent was at Casa Milan for the release of the goalkeeper who now joins Perugia.
“Milan announces the agreement for the player Gabriel to join AC Perugia Calcio on a permanent transfer. Milan wishes the goalkeeper the best of luck in his future sporting endeavors, thanking him for his professionalism and commitment to the club,” a statement on the official website reads.
The 25-year-old posted a farewell message on Instagram: “I arrived as a kid, today I’m leaving as a more mature man. I realized my dream of playing at Milan, even if I couldn’t give everything I wanted. I would like to thank everyone who has contributed to this journey.
“All directors, coaches, goalkeeping coaches, athletic trainers, physiotherapists, warehousemen, those who work in the kitchen and all those who work at Milanello. All were beautiful people and I will always carry them in my heart. Thanks also to the fans, for the great affection you have shown me over the years. I’m leaving, but I’ll always cheer for the team that has always fascinated me since childhood. Thanks for everything AC Milan. Goodbye.”
Milan are well-covered in the goalkeeper position as Gianluigi Donnarumma, Pepe Reina and Antonio Donnarumma will occupy the roles of the first, second and third ‘keepers for the upcoming season.

He has been here for too long tbh, it was time, both him and Vergara. Wish them both good luck in their new adventures, and we’ll see if he can at least be of help to Alessandro Nesta and Perugia;)
