Samu Castillejo will soon become the new winger of Milan as according to Di Marzio an agreement has been reached.
Milan have been searching for a winger for a while and it seems that they have decided to sign Castillejo from Villarreal.
According to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, an agreement was reached this evening after contacts between Leonardo and the Spanish club.
Di Marzio claims that Milan will pay €3m for the loan of Castillejo but will be obligated to sign next summer for €15m. In addition to the money, Carlos Bacca, who spent the last season on loan at Villarreal, will return to El Submarino Amarillo on a permanent basis.
The deal is likely to be completely closed tonight or tomorrow and the 23-year-old Spanish winger Castillejo, who can play on the right and the left, could have his medical already on Tuesday.

I watched his clips for like 30mins this afternoon and he plays almost exactly as Suso but with better aerial duel, less physical strength and better speed.
I believe Leonardo completed this deal more to get rid of Bacca and his huge salary for next 2 seasons (€12m gross).
Wish him the best in Milan and hope he convince most of us who are sceptical about him. Obviously he needs to hit the gym for Serie A.
now that we have a winger we can use Borini in the deal + Monto/Bertolacci/Abate/Mauri to lower the price. we could go on a deal to sign SMS on 20M loan with player(s) exchange and 60 milion to be paid in several installments.
Nice comment though but I think it’s all wishful thinking. I hope I’m wrong cuz Castillejo from what I have seen from the Youtube clips, is a mediocre at best who lacks dynamism. He is as light as a feather, runs like a chicken without much coordination, control and intelligence. His dribbling is just average. But what makes me mad is his poor decision making. Dont know how to feel about this. I have never seen him play and dont want to make an assessment over youtube, a friend of mine who follows La Liga says he’s average, above average at best. If Di Marzio reports this then it’s just a matter of time before he’ll join, and like all players though, just like I wished for Constant, Traoré, Muntari etc, once they’ve joined and are wearing the Milan shirt, I will support them and hope they will make not only the shirt proud but also us fans. I’m with you on this one. I’m really unsure if this was the right move. I honestly believe Quincy Promes or Martial would have been a better option.
The problem with Castillejo is that last season he played on the right same wing as Suso even though he can play on the left. So is Milan planning on selling Suso to Roma and still go for Anthony Martial or Quincy Promes?
This is why I am unsure about this signing. There maybe another twist to this story.
solid signing. he is not a depay or quincy promis but he certainty has enough quality to warrant consideration. Villareal is a top 6 la liga team, he is a key player and a fundemental attacker for them. At 23 having been playing for them for few years his ready for the next stage of his career. His not supposed to be standout winger, rather he adds depth and potential cover for Suso and Calhanglou. With Borini and him we now have 2 capable wingers who can fill in when required. He also has age on his side and has good level of experience plus inclusion of bacca allowed us to reduce his asking price. Read my comment on Castillejo. as for Calhanoglu, he suffered from 6 months of abscence from football in the first half of last season. The guy was scary in the latter half. I guess the big question is, are we planning to sell Suso and he is the replacement? Is he our left winger? Or is he a backup for the wings and we will purchase another winger? I don’t think any of these questions can be answered in complete confidence until Leonardo comes out and says there will be no more purchases this window.

I agree 100%. With Castillejo behind Higuain with Calhanoglu and Suso flanking him would be the best option forward. Castillejo also played that role and on the right for Villarreal. Then we can use Kessié and Bakayoko to recover the ball as the two holding midfielders. That means Biglia would be dropped to the bench. Not exactly the most exciting signing in Milan’s history. The best thing about this deal is Bacca going in the opposite direction. Then again maybe I’m just down since we shot ourselves in the foot AGAIN by letting Locatelli go without a buyback clause.
I think Leonardo is doing an impressive job but he also works to bring in players that Gattuso requests. However, I can see that Gattuso is just an average Coach who got a big heart for our Milan. No doubt about that. But Gattuso is so obsessed with 4-3-3 and he seems very unsettled if he cannot have Left and Right Wingers. A good Coach does not rely on just one fixed formation. To be honest I have mix feelings about this move because Martial is a better option. I don’t think Mourinho would have let him go without a replacement though.
Just curious to see if SMS or Rabiot will arrive in addition to another striker. I just can’t see us starting this season with only Higuain, Cutrone and Borini unless Gattuso is planning to use Suso as a striker.

I’ve not seen him play much, but so many people that have say that Milan are pulling off a great deal here. I think it’s important that we have players on both wings who can be a threat and expose a bad defender, although Hakan started to do so at the end of last season, he still wasn’t a natural winger. Not a good signing. Wrong foot, and not good enough to really offer competition for the first team.
If Locatelli was bad business, then this is horrible business. We’ll I guess Leonardo’s hands were tied. It was a race against time for him to assemble a competitive team and he did his best. He signed what he could for the missing pieces and offloaded some players impressively as well. It takes another full Mercato for him to perfect this team.
I hope this Castillejo guy plays well enough so at the very least we’ll be able to sell him for the same amount later.

Inter are Juventus “scudetto” contenders now. They have a really good squad, and if they add Modric to it, then it will be insane. They’ve had a very good mercato. Lazio is a team no one mentions, who also has had a good mercato, and if they keep SMS they’ll also be top four contenders, but if we sign SMS, or Rabiot, then we’ll definitely be up there in the top four positions. If Gattuso manages to really gel together the team.
I agree about Inter mate, superb squad – so much depth in mid.
But Lazio? Honestly, even with SMS I never understood how they were doing so well. And now they lost their top CB. I think/hope we can pass them this year.
I think last couple of years Inter had a better squad than Rome, and this year even more. The niangolan swap really tipped the boat in one direction.
Roma and Napoli are at around the same level but Inter is better than both teams right now
