Nikola Kalinić is on the verge of completing a move to Atletico Madrid on loan with option or obligation to buy.
The men who bought Kalinić last summer are all gone and now the Croatian is on the way out, as the talks between Milan and Atletico are moving a very positive direction and the deal is almost done.
According to Alfredo Pedullà of Sportitalia, Gianluca Di Marzio of Sky Sport and Pietro Balzano Prota of RadioRossonera, Kalinić is ‘one step’ from joining the squad of Cholo Simeone.
With Kevin Gameiro ready to move to Valencia, a spot opens up at Atletico and it will be filled by the 30-year-old striker, who managed to score just 6 goals in all competitions for Milan. The whole deal is believed to be worth €20m, with Atletico paying €2m for the loan and €18m for the buy-out.
It’s clear at this point however, whether it will be a right to buy or an obligation. In any case, Kalinić is leaving Milan, and after the arrival of Gonzalo Higuain, there was really no need to keep him.
