Alen Halilović says Gattuso is happy with the work of the squad and notes his teammates have been helping him.

Milan have so far played two friendly matches in the pre-season, but new-signing Halilović, who arrived on a free transfer, has yet to make an appearance.

The Croatian is with the squad in the United States and could make his unofficial debut on the night between Tuesday and Wednesday, as the Diavolo face Tottenham at the U.S. Bank Stadium in Minneapolis (02:30 CEST kickoff).

“First of all, I’m very happy to be here in the USA,” the 22-year-old said in an interview with MilanTV. “I think we work a lot, we did a lot of training sessions, we played one match in LA and now in a few days we’ll have a match here in Minnesota in one of the most beautiful stadiums I think I’ve ever seen and I’m really happy to be a part of this and to possibly play against Tottenham.

“We work a lot, and it’s a little bit hot but I think it’s normal in this time. We train well, the coach is happy and I think we have a lot of time to work before the first match in Serie A, which is the most important for us, and we’ll work every day to try to be better.

“My teammates? They help me a lot and now when we’ll go back to Italy, I start learning Italian. I think it’s very important for every player to understand the coach and the teammates. The training? It’s hard, especially in Milanello when we started in the first 6-7 days, it was very hard but now here we have three matches, big matches, and we do a lot of training and preparing.

“Gattuso? He’s good, he works a lot with us, he helps us, we always work at 100% and I think he’s always here to protect us and as a person I’m really happy to be a player of Gattuso.”
