Alexandre Pato believes Leonardo was the right pick for Milan as they want to go back to the top of Europe.
Milan are in the hands of Elliott now and the American hedge fund has decided to put Leonardo Araujo at the top of the sporting-technical side at the club.
And if you ask Pato, who was brought to Milan by Leonardo 11 years ago, then getting back Leo is the right choice.
“What effect does Leonardo’s return to Milan make? I’m not at all surprised that Elliott has chosen him. I know Leo well, he’s a Champion,” the 28-year-old told Tuttosport. “If I’ve talked to him already? Yes, I sent him my congratulations and my good luck a few days ago.
“What do I expect from him? Surely Leo has the vision, the competence and the authority to give a new approach to the club. Not only from a technical point of view. I imagine that at the club, there’s been some loss: many people have left in just a year and a half, so Leonardo can give security to the whole club. He’s the right person at the right place at the right time: he’ll do a great job.
“If Leonardo is better as a coach or as a director? As far as I’m concerned, Leonardo was a good coach with innovative ideas and I’m sure he will continue to do well as a director, in the wake of what he’s done in the years when he was already a Milan director.
“I scored two of the three goals in that famous derby of April 2011 [when Leonardo was the coach of Inter]? It was an unforgettable match. A couple of months ago, we met for lunch at a Brazilian restaurant in Milano – Casa Tapioca: Adriano Galliani, Ariedo Braida, Leonardo, my agent Gilmar Veloz, my media manager Andrea Mc Leod, and I. There was talk about my two goals in that derby and also of my double in Madrid against Real.
“What memory I have of that match? Milan had never won at the Bernabéu in official matches before. We were 1-0 at the end of the first half, but in the second half we played great with Leonardo overturning the team, and those coaches led us to victory. With him on the bench… what a night.
“What I thought of Yonghong Li? I don’t know much about the previous ownership. If I trust Elliott at Milan? It seems to me that in a few weeks, the new owners have moved decisively with regards to the club’s organization. That bodes well for Milan and their future. The club deserve to return to the top.
“If I would think about it if Leonardo were to call me to bring me back to Milan? In the meantime I’m waiting for the call… then we’ll see!”

Milan needs to keep Silva n sell Kalinic n Bacca, if we get Higuain, then Cutrone n Silva will be his best backup at present situation……I can’t understand why Leo is waiting in the Bernard issue, is there any free agent better than Bernard in wings?????…….. Get Caldara,Bernard, Higuain, ASAP……..if we fail to get Higuain then Immobile should be our prime target( not Morata)…… Biglia + cash for Immobile would be good n in that case Badelj as a free agent is a good replacement for Biglia……..Forza Milan
