The club has confirmed Milan will appeal the ban from Europe.
Milan today learned of their punishment for failing to comply with the break-even rule of the Financial Fair Play between 2014 to 2017, and this evening they announced that they’ll appeal it.
“The Adjudicatory Chamber of UEFA’s Club Financial Control Body has decided to sanction Milan, for the breach of the UEFA Club Licensing and Financial Fair Play Regulations in the three-year period between July 2014 and June 2017 with one year of exclusion from UEFA Club Competitions,” a statement on the Diavolo website reads.
“After taking note of the aforementioned ruling, Milan has instructed its legal team to appeal the decision before the Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne, seeking for a prompt review of the ruling. Milan fully trusts the CAS will hear its arguments and will refrain from commenting further pending the arbitration.” CAS is also called ‘TAS’ sometimes as in French it’s Tribunal arbitral du sport.
CAS has the power to overturn the sentence of UEFA and they have the absolute final say in this matter. Milan will have 10 days to prepare their defense, which as reported by Milannews.it, has to be strictly based on the documents submitted to UEFA: that means that CAS, like the Italian Supreme Court, does not allow the inclusion of new evidence in case of an appeal.
The judging committee will be composed of three judges: one nominated by Milan, one nominated by UEFA and a third independent judge. Marco Fassone will hope to convince the court.

How much is actually made in revenue from the Europa league?
As a matter of principle there right to appeal but in all honesty who cares if we play in a Mickey mouse cup like that anyway? I certainly don’t, you get dragged around the four corners of Europe on a Thursday playing teams nobody’s heard of until the very latest stages of the competition
Im just glad they didn’t stuff us with a 30m fine, now that would of been serious
€2.6 million (Guaranteed) for each 40 teams who play in the group stages, €215,000 for first qualifying round, €225,000 for second qualifying round, €220,00 for third and €235,000 for play-off losing teams who won’t qualify for group stages.
€6.5 million for winners
€3.5 million for runners-up team
€1.5 million for each of the four semifinalists
€1 million for each of the 8 teams Quarter-Finals
To make it short, nothing
Thanks Misund
There’s probably a few quid in television revenue to add to that but I doubt it’s much
I bet if you do out an expenses sheet like flights accommodation ext… you’d prob lose money!!!
Many people like the fact that you get experience at playing abroad, But i’m not sure how much experience they will gain from EL, The level of serieA is high and its more difficult to play in Italy then most leagues. Ofc its good to feel the physicality of top teams. But missing out wont be a big loss thats for sure. Yep Winners can earn another €10 to €30 million on market pool payment depending on the country the club comes from. That number is probably that high because of the TV right for English clubs. Dont think teams… Read more »
Then there’s also entry into the next year’s Champions League for winners, so…
yes there is, but do you rly expect us to win it? 4 in the league is achievable, and with out interference from EL the chance is even bigger
If there are to many matches in the Europa league then play fringe and youth. In fact there were a lot of first team players in our team who were dying to get a minute of football last season. No money in there but its experience for the players is closer to the CL than anything else and its competitiveness is about our level as we didn’t get close to the final despite mostly playing with our first team. I know we can’t prioritize it however playing there can’t be harmful. You only need to manage your team well. And… Read more »
Personally I would love us skip this year’s Europa league, so as to allow us look inward. This mess going on @ the top is enough distractions. We just need to be in the champions league next year. Seeing the kind of class signing the clubs above us is doing gives me goose pimples.
Thanks misund for that break down..
