Patrick Cutrone talked about the importance of the three points after beating Chievo and said he wasn’t expecting to be called-up to the Italy NT.

Mariusz Stępiński (33′) and Roberto Inglese (34′) shocked San Siro with two quick goals which erased the early lead of Milan given to them by Hakan Çalhanoğlu (10′), but in the second half the Rossoneri managed to make a comeback, with Patrick Cutrone (54′) and André Silva (81′) netting for Gennaro Gattuso’s side.

“Winning today was very important, we must continue on this path,” Cutrone said in an interview with MilanTV after the game. “This was a must-win game and three points we could not miss. They were only defending after scoring their goals. I’m glad we managed to complete the comeback.

“I always try to look for the ball and I hope to continue improving. The merits of Gattuso? They’re all his and his staff, we train well, and we are showing that we are united. The call-up to the NT? I’m very excited, I wasn’t expecting it. I was even checking the Under 21 call-up list. I will give my 100%!”

Speaking to Premium Sport, the striker said: “It’s the best way to celebrate a call-up? It was very important to win, the three points were fundamental, we were good at reacting and winning. We didn’t do well in the first half and then in the second we reacted, and we managed to take it home.

“The Champions League? We believe a lot in it, but we have to think from match to match, we are thinking of getting three points. Juventus and then Inter [after the international break]? Those are fundamental matches, they are two great teams, we will prepare for them in the best way.

“Who do I dedicate the goal to? I dedicate it to my parents, who always support me and have made so many sacrifices for me [Cutrone also has a tattoo on his arm that is dedicated to his family].”

Patrick also had an interview with Sky: “It’s a good moment for us, we managed to comeback, it wasn’t easy, they closed down. We behaved like a team, we played like a team and we wanted to get back in the second half. The Champions League? We always believe, we don’t give up.

“The national team? I wasn’t expecting it, I’m very happy, it’s a dream come true. I’ll work hard.”

Make us proud in the NT boy. But take care of yourself, we do not want anything to happen to you.

I didn’t see the game yesterday, was following up with updates and I must say I was worried when we went 1-0 up and the 2-1 down… I was furious, but very happy when I saw the match ended 3-2…. Now, after seeing the highlights this morning, I must say…. ”Zapata should never ever ever wear a Milan Jersey again, he’s USELESS and it’s beginning to look to me as if he intentionally plays bad for us” Good win anyway, and without Zapata, we sure could have gone home with a clean sheet….!!!
