Nikola Kalinić hasn’t been training with the group in the last few days so André Silva is likely to get the start on Sunday with Suso and Jack Bonaventura.
Kalinić suffered an injury in his left adductor in the match against Roma and while Milan were ‘cautiously optimistic’ that he would recover in time for the Derby della Madonnina (Sunday, 20:45 CET), it seems that it may not be the case.
According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, ‘unless near miraculous events’ occur, it won’t be possible for Kalinić to be fit to play from the first minute against Inter and it’s not even sure that he will be on the called-up list tomorrow as he hasn’t trained in a while and in the last two days he left Milanello as soon as the group training started.
Therefore, the responsibility up front is likely to fall on the shoulders of André Silva, who was on fire in the past international break, scoring twice for Portugal and helping them secure a place in the World Cup. The 21-year-old, unless Patrick Cutrone convinces Montella to give him the start, will play alongside Suso in a 3-5-1-1, with Jack Bonaventura in midfield, replacing the banned Çalhanoğlu.
Probable XI (GdS): Gianluigi Donnarumma; Mateo Musacchio, Leonardo Bonucci, Alessio Romagnoli; Fabio Borini, Franck Kessié, Lucas Biglia, Giacomo Bonaventura, Ricardo Rodriguez; Suso; André Silva.
