Nikola Kalinić suffered an injury which rules him out of the Croatia NT matches but he could return for the Derby.
The striker was called-up for Croatia’s matches against Finland and Ukraine but is forced to forfeit them due to an injury.
“During the match against Roma, Nikola Kalinić suffered a muscular problem,” a statement on Milan’s website reads. “The player underwent diagnostic procedures on Monday which revealed an injury in his left adductor. The Croatian striker won’t be able to respond to the call-up by his national team and has already started recovery treatment.
“He will be monitored daily.” According to Sky, there is a possibility that Kalinić will be fit already for the match against Inter on the 15th of October so the injury is believed to be not too serious. Earlier today, Croatia boss Ante Čačić revealed that Kalinić “had to take painkillers to play against Roma.”
The 29-year-old who arrived from Fiorentina this summer has been Montella’s first choice up front in Serie A, playing alongside Suso and André Silva in a 3-5-2. The coach will hope Nikola recovers fast.
