José Mauri went on social media after the match to apologize for his performance in the 1-0 Shkëndija win.
Vincenzo Montella rested many of key players in the second leg against Shkëndija last night as the Diavolo won 6-0 in the first leg, and he gave opportunities to some bench players.
One of them was the 21-year-old Jose Mauri. The Argentine midfielder, however, could not take advantage of the chance given to him by the coach and played a negative match, getting criticism from fans online.
The faithful were not the only one critical of the ex-Parma midfielder at the end of the match, as he himself went on Instagram and posted a message after the final whistle: “A performance to forget, no excuses. Nothing remains but to work hard to not repeat it. Thanks anyways for the support.”
There haven’t been too many rumours linking Mauri with an exit and he’s been involved in Serie A and the Europa League qualification stage, so he could stay. He will hope his next performance is better.
