President Yonghong Li has stated ‘there is a profound love that links Milan to China’ and coach Vincenzo Montella thanked for the mercato investments.

Milan changed hands in April and after 30 years of Silvio Berlusconi, Yonghong Li, through Rossoneri Sport Investment Lux, purchased the Rossoneri with the main intention of bring them back to the top.

Yonghong has already become the owner to spend the most on transfers on his first year in the history of football, surpassing Chelsea’s Roman Abramovich, as Milan have signed 10 players for €211m (it has to be noted, however, that some payments will be spread over several years and installments).

Today, Mr. Li hosted an event in Guangzhou, China and had the squad, who are touring the country as part of the annual International Champions Cup, as guests. On the occasion, the club’s Executive Director and Yonghong’s right-hand man, Mr. Han Li, and Mrs. Ping Wang, Chairperson of the China Next Generation Education Foundation, have signed an agreement which has given life to “AC Milan Special Fund”, a project that aims to support the development of football in Chinese schools.

“Today is a very important day for us. This agreement with CNGEF is a great opportunity for Chinese football to grow and to develop a new model for all young players,” the President said during the press conference, which Marco Fassone, Massimiliano Mirabelli and Vincenzo Montella also attended.

“I’m particularly happy to have the team here in China with us. This makes me proud. There’s a profound love that links Milan to China. This has been strengthened by the great work of people who work inside the club: thanks to Fassone and Mirabelli, the club has managed to sign great players.

“We are positive and fully convinced that the team will make our fans proud, both in Serie A and in Europa League.” Milannews.it also reported that Yonghong said: “From day one, I guaranteed signings for Milan in order to return to being big in Italy and in Europe. We will surprise our fans.”

Mrs. Ping Wang of the CNGEF, said: “It is a great privilege for us to work with a football club such as Milan. I think this a huge step for all those youngsters who enjoy playing football. The Vismara Sports Centre [the training center where the Rossoneri’s Youth teams train] sets an example for the work the Red and Black club does with its youngsters, where not only it improves the football skills and physical conditions but also betters students’ mental toughness and character.”

Montella and his players were present at the evening; Per Milannews.it, the 43-year-old coach said: “Now it’s up to us and we have a great responsibility. The market? I can say that I didn’t think that we would do things so quickly. So many players have arrived, and some will still arrive.”

Vincenzo, who is starting his 2nd year at Milan, added: “It is a great pleasure for all of us to be here. I wish to personally thank the President, for all the enthusiasm he has brought and for the investments he has made. Everything he is doing is making our fans dream again. Now it’s our turn, it’s not going to be easy with all these new players but I am positive we’ll do well next season.”

Yonghong Li is still expected to finance the arrival of a top striker (Andrea Belotti, Aubameyang and Morata are the leading candidates) and then it’ll be down to Montella to get the needed results.

If there was anyone out there who doubted the seriousness of our new owners and their total commitment to achieving greatness again must now realise that a sleeping giant has reawakened and it’s hungry for trophys, I really believe we will become the strongest club side in world football with the same pulling power that Real Madrid and Barcelona have enjoyed for the best part of ten years now I can’t wait to go to the San Siro again this year and the match I’m going to try get tickets for is against Juventus so I can personally watch us… Read more »

Thanks for making our dream come true

This is a pure business transaction. There isn’t a need to thank anyone. It isn’t the same as Berlusconi who really spent because he loves Milan. This is a totally different scenario. Sidetrack a little, Galliani was quite annoying in the past when he repeatedly thanked Berlusconi whenever there was a big signing. Telling us to he grateful and appreciate Berlusconi and this was a big sacrifice by Berlusconi. Sometimes it did feel like I am joining some cult.

The cult of Milan, haha, I could think of worse cults.

Forza Milan

Haha in fact berluscianity is quite good. He did really sacrifice a lot for us.

By that logic you could also say Berlusconi bought and spent in Milan for political reasons thus also his own interest.

These new owners could do their “business transaction” in some other club, but they chose Milan.

For political reason is a little far fetch plus over the last decade he wasn’t really active in political scene. He could have sold Milan long ago but he loves Milan so he hung on to it.

Yes, they could have selected other clubs but i believe that it is a business decision to select Milan as well. Right amount of goodwill and fan base at the right price.

Baresis Dream

Worldwide known brand which is extra popular at China, that’s why. But it could very well be that Mr Li happens to be a lifelong fan. I personally don’t care that much as long as he does his job. So far so good, but let’s hope we can repay our debt asap.

Eka Nugraha

Win The Title Guy’s

I wonder will the new owners buy out the San Siro? Wouldn’t that just be the icing on the cake, I’d much rather they done that than build a new stadium
For anyone whose never been it’s the one stadium that gives goosebumps every time you step off the subway and walk up the platform and see it in all its glory
The huge round towers and the noise is something else especially on European nights

San siro is magical but a little dilapidated. it needs remodelling so it can be more family-friendly thus can attract more spectators, like modern stadiums like old trafford, bernabeu or allianz arena. Also, the structures and the fact that it is used every week severely affect quality of the grass. I hope every milanista has the chance to go there at least once. The noise alone can make u cry tears of joy. Lastly, buying out san siro makes perfect sense. San siro will bridge milan’s rich history and bright future, full of well thought out long term plans and… Read more »

Mr J

Forza mr Li, forza fassobelli, mighty Milan

It looks like Mr Li is a man of his word. Milan goes beyond just winning physically on the field. The red and black have been known for bringing up talented players to be men. In just the 2000’s and the 2010’s, Milan have raised notable players who have players like Miccoli, Borriello, Matri, Astori, Abate, De Sciglio, Darmian, Antonelli, Paloschi, Antonini, Verdi, not to mention the current brights prospects in the Donnarumma’s, Locatelli, Calabria, Cutrone, Cristante, Petagna. The project with the CNGEF will spread Milan’s popularity and brand in the biggest market available in China. This should be considered… Read more »

Thank you Mr. Yonghong Li. I was really skeptical about his financial prowess because when I browsed about him on the internet, they were nothing intriguing about him before he bought AC Milan, but now I can be relaxed and believe. Again Obrigado ebowe sorte!
