Leonel Vangioni will be playing for River Plate next season, but the formula has not been determined yet.
Vangioni’s short European experience is set to come to an end as according to Sky Italia’s Gianluca Di Marzio, the 30-year-old left back is very close to returning to River Plate, for which he played from ’13 to ’16.
Di Marzio claims the deal is on the verge of getting completed but it’s still unclear whether he will go there on loan or permanently. It has to be noted that when River Plate President Rodolfo D’Onofrio spoke about the possibility of re-signing Vangioni, he said that it would have to be for free as he left them as a free agent last summer.
Mattia De Sciglio and Vangioni are both leaving Milan this summer but the club did sign Ricardo Rodriguez and Andrea Conti for the wingbacks position, and is keeping Abate, Antonelli and Calabria.

Zapata, Paletta, Sosa, Bacca left to sell.
Hope MdS is gonna be used in Cuadrado deal.
Yeah that di sciglio cuadrado deal would be great.
I believe we should keep Sosa, he is decent and can be a good depth player
We should be including the Genoa dud onto that list.
Bit of a shame about Vangioni, I’d have chopped Abate instead, however, position wise and needing to reduce the squad, a probably sensible move.
I hope Milan can include an option for a young river plate player, like Juve did with Bentancur.
If we give him for free at least we would be building a good relationship with river plate for future deal. It is important because many talents are brought to Europe from Boca juniors and river plate…
Yes.
Like giving Poli for free.
Just like Galliani did and made so, so many good relations.
Right?
Can’t sell what nobody wants
The last time I checked, I failed to find anyone whom we gave away for free, is a free agent.
So, your point just got destroyed by awesome Ink.
@ Atala. I agree with you completely, it will be the best deal now that can be more profitable to us in the future.
Vangioni never really hit d ground running, anyway, wish him good luck becos he was part of d team dat brought Milan back to Europe….mucho gracias
