Milan will pay €24m plus Matteo Pessina for Andrea Conti who will be at the training center on Thursday before signing the contract on Friday.

The 23-year-old, who yesterday won Sportitalia’s ‘Defender of the Year’ award, will join Milan by the end of the week as Atalanta have finally found a replacement, allowing Conti to move to Milan.

As reported by Gianluca Di Marzio, Milannews.it and others, the Rossoneri have reached a deal with Atalanta on the basis of €24m in cash plus the card of the 20-year-old Matteo Pessina, who played the last season on loan at Como.

Conti will be at sporting center Milanello tomorrow (Thursday) for the physical tests and on Friday he will be La Madonnina clinic and then be announced as the seventh purchase of the Rossoneri for the summer, after Musacchio, Kessié, Ricardo Rodriguez, Andre Silva, Borini and Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

The right back had a fantastic season in Nerazzurri last season, scoring 8 goals and assisting 4 in 33 Serie A appearances. He will hope to have similar performances with the red and black shirt on.

Welcome conti let make sure we have a successful season ahead

Jibola

A very strong player offensively and defensively and with Abate we are solid on the right.

Oshodi

what about Calabria?

ck

What about de sciglio? When can Juve up their offer?? Think about it, the de sciglio story is quite ironic. When we were poor, he was with us. Now that we have money he wants to leave us. The funny thing is right now Juve seems to be a poor bloke. Keita wants to join but Juve won’t fork out the money. Not as if Juve doesn’t need Keita as Mandzukic is their left winger and obviously Keita is an upgrade plus it’s his natural position. Juve really seem quite poor and hard up at the moment hahaha. you’re a funny dude… love ur comment

Ink

Whaaaat? That is what you make of the MDS story? You are joking, right?

B Hutama

Lol wkwkwk

Ck

This is the only reason i can think of. He stuck it out when we were down, now that we are on the up and he wants to leave. If he’s leaving to join Barca or Real i can understand but Juve. Look at the amount they spent over the past few seasons, nothing fantastic. Other than higuain which was Pogba’s money, nothing extravagant. Dybala and Pjanic transfer deals were not out of the world.

Ink

Well Ck, players usually do not get the transfer fee, they get the salary.
You should check out their salary instead.

Milan10

Very amusing comment but the truth is actually very simple: de judas is weak minded gloryhunter and he considered juve a better vehicle for him to win trophies. He didnt know milan would go all out in mercato when he asked milan mgmt to let him go and im pretty sure he still considers juve better team despite milan big spending thus he still wants to go there.
He isnt some anti-establishment footballing hipster who despises money, not in a million years

Ali

Calabria should go somewhere on loan to get some valuable playing time

+milan

next please. . .

Don Bee

WE DID IT!!!! Oh my God am so happy now… Rossoneris has waited for this kind of marcato for so long.. i wish the season can start next week i cant waiting this guys on the pitch. GOD BLESS AC MILAN.

Joe

Waiting to hear the word OFFICIAL finally! Conti will be an awesome addition.

I find it incredible that after all those great signings Milan did so far, the management said they are still working secretly on more signings and we may get a surprise – James Rodriguez would be an awesome surprise for sure. Loving it! No more Acerbi, Matri and Mr. X!!!!

Philldadon1899

The James ship has sailed. Think more in the striker department.

mankay

No i don’t think so…saw the story on football-italia today

Philldadon1899

What story? Care to elaborate? lol

mankay

James story…negotiations is stil on for him

Philldadon1899

“Signing a player like James? At the end of the week, we’ll have to make a budget estimate, based on our latest incomings and outgoings, and we could decide to spend on a single player or several of them. There’ll be surprises.”

How out of that do you guess we are going after him? All he is saying is we have to see how much we have and then decide on one or many players. He doesnt even say James. He says a player LIKE James lol

Joe

I didn’t say we will sign James – I simply said James would be an awesome surprise. And if you can read between the lines. he didn’t say James is out of question, he was asked about it and said there will be surprises. It’s how you interpret it – you seem to not see it but other people may. Don’t be surprised if James arrives and your jaw hits the floor.

ZeR0W1

The question at the beginning “… Players like James?” is actually what the interviewer asked, so the word James isn’t included in the answer.

dubfire

He’s such a good buy. He’s good on defense as well as in attack, he can play right/left, he’s young and he wants to play for Milan.

1milanfansouthafrica

Hope Montella utilized the flanks with Rodrigues and Conti

RUSKIN

we shud not have released hachim mastour,, we will regret it and it may come back to hunt us ,he will become a super star in another club

Tunexomomummy

I also believe so mastour is a great talent for d future of milan

Kwabena Adu

He should try FUTSAL that’s where his skills will be needed, besides those pitches are small and he’s excellent playing in tight corners

Kaka22

So what exactly has mastour done to warrant us keeping him?if u can’t get game time at malaga and Zwolle u definitely cant make it at Milan

Rikimaru Tenchu

If there is any one to blame it’s Mastour. He had so many chances….

But I do agree we shouldn’t have released him just yet.

Vinnie

I have no difficulty agreeing thst Mastour was mismanaged. Perhaps he shouldn’t have done those videos eith Neymar, perhaps he zhoukd have been olayed more at Milan, or oerhaps we was loaned.to the wrong clubs. Hard to say, but st this point, he isn’t currently a player that can raise the team or a massive prospect we need to keep for the future.

Ali

lol! Mastour the guy who doesn’t even play for some unknown club in Switzerland will come back to haunt us. Get over him guys

Milan10

Mastour has great technique and ball control but ZERO movements/positional sense, passing, vision, shooting, speed, tactical awareness and most importantly, decision making skills.
It would be so hard to change his mindset about how to play because he’s already 19.

Kaka22

I love this guy,a very good player, this is the least position we needed a player in this season but funny enough this is my best buy so far along with Andre Silva and RR

sexion

Conti is the best signing so far for me. He has the potential to be Cafu’s (ex Milan) calibre. One of the best promising young defenders. I welcome u with open arms Conti. Milan Durban, South Africa. Forza Milan

Psalmist

Glad that I’m not the only Rossonero in RSA.

Milan Boy

Good deal, please bring on Biglia, we need an experienced commander in the midfield.

Comment:great to hear I was 90% sure he would end up in Milan. it exciting to see Milan again in the market buying great players not free transfer or player from Genoa parma and clubs fighting for the bottom. thank God Galialini is finally gone with all his nonsensical transfers. it good to be patient. pls James, kovacic or moussa dembele should be the icing on the cake. I could have suggested Dortmund’s dembele but it is not yet time. Celtic dembele would be a great signing. in case of midfielder fabregas will be a great signing. hardly any player… Read more »

nick

Scottish league is weak. I like Dembele but the verdict is still out on whether or not he can handle a more tactical and defensive Serie A. I prefer Belotti.

If he can score so many goals in a smaller team like Torino then he will be simply amazing like Shevchenko who in his first season at Milan was the leading goal score even with the like of Brazilian Ronaldo El Phenomenon at inter.

Belotti please! In this Milan he will be devastating!

Milan10

Ronaldo was out injured when sheva was tearing it up so its unfair comparison

milanmalaysia

what a great day indeed!! Conti welcome to AC Milan. Even before he come he showed his desire and passion for the jersey. Hope he do well with us for many years to come. Our club future depends on players with heart and soul etched to the jersey, and i can see Conti is one of them On the side note, our mercato is far from over, as Fasobelli stated in the press that another 1/3 of their mercato targets is yet to be fulfilled, i wonder what they have in store for us. I can’t wait for the season to… Read more »

JOHN THE BAPTIST

Hmmm, does this mean we should still expect between 3-4 signings? knowing fully well we have already gotten 7, and they said its just 2/3 of our transfers. the cake is done, now is the time for the icing. just start selling now to raise funds. #Pastore? #Belotti? #James? #Fabregas? #Auba? Fingers crossed, we are getting 2 or 3 on this list. P.S: if fans here feel Sneider still got it (of course i wouldnt mind him at Milan either) then i see no reason why we say no to Ibra. he could easily pass for the best striker in… Read more »

MilanMondo

If we were to expect based on your list here, let’s be critical and think like Fasobelli. He did wonders in the mercato. The formula of the mercato is a long term, sustainable signings. That’s what they did to Donna’s contract. This is my analysis, and yes, i cant sleep doing this 1) sneijder: used to play in italy, experienced, did well in every league he plays. Pretty much indispensable in line ups, despite his disciplinary issues. Possibilty – high 2) pastore: pretty much key player in first half of PSG campaign, until Draxler came. Stiff competition in his own… Read more »

JOHN THE BAPTIST

“let’s be critical and think like Fasobelli” you made some sense with the possibity ratings, but if you are thinking like Fassobelli and not “Uncle Fester” will the arrival of Kalinic be a suprise? he said there will be suprises, yes expect 2-3 names on that list. by the way, the rating of Belotti should be medium i suppose. Milan just playing hard by looking for Kalinic, i think Belotti is our real man. Remember we will still earn about 25mil for qualifying for Europa League, also from the sales of players we should fund these transfers. James, Fabregas, Pastore… Read more »

milanmalaysia

john made some good points. i think MIlanMondo still stuck by the idea of Uncle Fester by bringing “Mr. X” (i can understand the post traumatic effect from all these years, i feel it too LOL) but nevertheless, good ratings and i can see our mercato from a tunnel perspective now. Belotti might be the one we’re looking for, despite that Cairo repeatedly saying “he’s not for sale” and start tagging ridiculous release clause. but we have European competitions upcoming and i think the 25mil deposit, the new milan sporting project and the chance to shine at Europe, Belotti just… Read more »

Just three words: Ibra – Raiola – Gigio

JOHN THE BAPTIST

Bro, Ibra isnt an 18yr old you know. so you think if “Ibracadabra” tells Mino to get him to Milan, Mino would flex his muscles? oh comon Ibra’s personalty outshines his agent anyday, anytime.

Ck

Ibra is on a 12M salary. He is probably now still on clutches. ACL tear’s recovery is between 4 to 6 months. For his age, most likely will be 6 months. He will be back only in November. To get match fit is probably December. 1/3 of his salary is wasted. At 36 years old, after such a serious injury, will he be the same Ibra???? 12 million is = 24M. I rather use this money to buy another player.

mankay

Pls someone shld wake me up frm my dream I’m sure is not reality…Milan signing the 7th player of the season, finally feels good to be a Milan again after while

Mansa

Excellent signing no doubt

Mykel

Milan is back!!!.. soon Ucl will come to italy again. Europe miss the great milan. I pray all the new arrivals meet up to expectations and no major injuries. #weareacmilan

USMAN

So happy with all signing, the next should be James pls.

Oshodi

He’s a very good player, and more importantly he wants to play for Milan. He doesn’t need two months to think about it.
I’m repeating it! Milan should recall Plizzari!! He’s our true hope, I’ve lost all patience with Donarruma if by now he hasn’t signed the improved contract. It seems Milan is forcing itself on Donarumma. Let this boy go and let’s move on. we can a little to his brother’s offer to pay a good keeper.

Rabiu idris

Suracho

borini also came from a weaker league

Milan10

Last season he played in epl so definitely not weaker league, only weaker results

rosso138

AAAAAnnnndddd defence is complete! :)

RB: Conti, Calabria, Abate, De Sciglio
CB: Romagnoli, Musacchio, Gomez, Paletta, Zapata, Ely, Vergara, Simic
LB: Rodriguez, Antonelli, Vagnioni

And another CB is coming for bench (probably Simon Kjær).

So, who to sell? De Sciglio is 95% gone already, Paletta probably also. Simic will probably go on loan. Honestly I would prefer Ely over Zapata but then we wont have experienced CB… (but maybe it is better for younger players not to have mentor at all than have Zapata as one).

Ali

I assume that Mussachio is experienced enough. Anyway I would take anyone over Zapata anyday, even the raw Simic or Ely

Tymlezz

Conti is a true Milanese he was wit us during childhood dayz, he wen to Atlanta bcas our youth training center is too far its in d provincia di Milano which is near Linate Airport but d kid bleed Red n Black in Heart Forza Milan bentornato Conti

Lol. You are funny.

SempreRossenero

Excellent Purchase! I’m glad we’re building our team in all the right areas. Although I do think we’re missing out in the CAM department and either James or Fabregas would be amazing! I’m happy with keeping Bacca but we should sell Niang. Bacca is proven in Europa league and good experience to help Andre Silva.

IMO the best formation.
XI:
Donna
Conti-Mussachio-Romanolgi-RR
Suso-Hakan-Kessie-Bona(C)
A.Silva-Bacca

2nd team:

Calabria/Abate-Zapata-Gomez-Antonelli
Kucka-Monti-Locatelli-Borini
Lapadula-Cutrone

Forza Milan – I hope we show all the haters who said such bad things about our beloved team over the past few years!!

Vince

We can’t have hakan play a center mid position. He doesn’t have the defensive qualities and we will be ripped wise open. Let him flourish behind the strikers or out wide . We need biglia and kessie to be out center mid combo. That would be deadly

Conti mussachio ronagnioli Rr.

Biglia kessie

Suso hakan bona

Silva

norah parker

I am patiently waiting to hear ” IT’S OFFICIAL “. Conti will definitely be a great addition to this squad. Forza Milan

Ink

But… couldn’t we at least try to shake that money in front of someone like fabregas to see if they would be tempted to join instead of getting a free kick kid and borini and spending on Conti first?

Anyway, it is a good signing. But not sure it is a necessary signing. Hope Conti won’t be a one season wonder. Good luck for the next season.

Meer1

You are the one who tend to criticise each and every players that we tend to buy but fair enough arguments….yeah we should atleast go for one playmaker CM like fabregas as you mentioned than with striker if we sell anyone i think we will be good to go……but it’s always nice to have some fans who tend to end up on being critic analysis…..what ever happens the end saying goes FORZA MILAN

Ink

Thank you for your comment. I try to keep my emotions detached from my analysis and see things objectively. Having an imbalanced squad is a really bad business by stocking up similar kind of players instead of going full on at urgent needs first.

Btw, I do not criticise all the purchases. Rodriguez and Musacchio were necessary reinforcements. I liked that.

Meer1

I concur with what ever you said above in your comments…..cheers

TrueRossoneri

I’m sure when u sit down and think over it, u’ll know y we haven’t signed ur Fabregas but rather that ‘freekick kid’, Borini and Conti.

that’s surprise maybe fabrigas or belotti.

Agni

Welcome conti to the team of your dream.
Unleash hell on the right flank.

Make us proud.

Agni

If we do end up signing somebody like James/fabergas/kovacic. Then I am sure UCL will soon come back to Italy.

Only Milan have the DNA to get it back to Italy, the rest can only follow our lead as far as UCL is concerned.

Ali

Good signing but we really need to balance the team out AND put a pinch of F****** sense in Montella’s goddamn head. 4-3-3 Again with all these signings? Pffff

Chuky

Simo I really love your analysis and statistics on our new buy’s and previous players. Those clamouring for Fabregas should know that he’s not getting any younger. Belloti and maybe Mertens or James would complete the marcato

Sorry a little bit of topic but is any of you guys rooting for a faction in Game Of Thrones? It’s just that it crossed my mind that Milan is coming to Europe while Daenerys is coming to the seven kingdoms. Also pls no spoilers about last season :D

Milan10

Some might say milan – conti is a match made in heaven, hollywood love story and all that jazz. While it might be true, and i really hope its true, conti is still far from world class, let alone cafu’s level. His defensive prowess still leaves a lot to be desired; his zonal and man marking, positional awareness, heading, tackling arent world class yet. He has great speed, crossing, stamina, dribbling, attacking and even goalscoring prowess though, i’ll give him that. I hope he can reach darmian level very soon with milan, THEN milanisti can start comparing him to cafu.… Read more »

JOHN THE BAPTIST

I feel what Boban said about Milan not signing excellent players is absolutely correct. and that’s what gives me the confidence that we are in that phase right now. we need about 2 marquee signings in the midfield, 1 in the attack (if Bacca leaves) and 1 solid CB (we all know Musaccio isnt that much of an all-season player) Alex Ferguson once said: “Strikers win matches, defence win titles” *i know A.Silva and Auba will offer a more mobile front line, but i would rather have Belotti partner him, because of his fighting and aggressive style, also his age.… Read more »

Pray_For_Milan

031 this is 021 another Rossonero in Cape Town, South Africa.

Moving on Conti would be a good addition to our squad but I fear he will delay Calabria’s development unless we loan Calabria out for a season.
A good Regista would be a welcomed I still want Maia of Brazil of Itturaspe/Camacho/Badelj than we can look to add another winger. Forza Milan from South Africa
