Hakan Çalhanoğlu will be joining Milan at the start of next week, an agreement with Leverkusen has been found.

Milan are not stopping and after announcing Musacchio, Kessié, Ricardo Rodriguez, André Silva and Fabio Borini, they are close to completing the signing of midfielder / forward Hakan Çalhanoğlu.

As reported by Milannews.it, Gianluca Di Marzio, Sportitalia and others, Milan have reached a definitive agreement with Bayer Leverkusen this evening for the Turkish.

It’s believed that Milan will pay €20-21 million plus bonuses (total sum of €24m) for the 23-year-old, while Sky Itali suggests that he will sign a four-year contract worth €2.5m plus bonuses per season. Çalhanoğlu, who can play several roles on the pitch, will arrive in Italy in the coming hours; he will have his medical check-ups over the next two days before officially joining the club.

Çalhanoğlu, who hasn’t played any football since January 28 due to a FIFA ban related to a contract breach, was reportedly strongly wanted by director of sport Massimiliano Mirabelli. In the half season he did play this season, Hakan scored seven goals and assisted seven more in 1600 minutes.

Çalhanoğlu will be purchase number 6 and Andrea Conti will be #7. The deal for the Atalanta right back is nearly done, and the 23-year-old Italy international will most likely sign next week as well.

I m so happy to read all this good news. For now I m wait for the new season. I hope for central forward for now.

rossonerisiamonoi

Andre Silva is centre forward , how many more do you want ?

Vinnie

Well, with both Lapadula and Bacca under strong speculation of transfers there’s bound to be at least another.

Milanisti Indonesia

I read we re being linked with Benassi. Honestly, how good is he? Can anyone describe him?

Kourosh

He’s good, but not great. He has a lot of experience for his age but he’s not what we need in my opinion.

Milanista121

If we look at midfielders from Torino, then Baselli would be the obvious pick for me, great player and great shot.

Asy

He’s similar to kucka but younger…And italian

Milan Wins… Welcome to the new Red & black!

Nildinho

Great signing – good value. He is Versatile, tons of creativity and not too expennsive – Whats not to love?

Dariush

I think we should go for sneijder, cause he is cheap and ready to take a huge salary cut to play in italy again, evn now he is world class, but there is no news for milan about him.:-(

rossonerisiamonoi

Gotta love this one , welcome to Milan ! His name is too long and weird so we shall call him Chaka (if anyone know the reference). A much needed young and creative type of player , Juninho’s style .

Yusuf

Firstly. I don’t know much about this kiddo apart from the fact that he’s good at taking free kicks. Does anyone know if he’s any good aside from free kicks? Coz really all I come across is his insane free kick ability. Secondly. I hear we are linked with Simone Kjaer. I hope not! He’s average and overrated since his Palermo days. We should go for Pepe who I believe is a free agent and can bring experience to our backline. Considering his age he will be a quick fix. Thirdly. In respect of our forward line I think we… Read more »

Bacca would not be easy to manage as a sub and not a starter in a world cup year. That’s why i am ok with the rumours of his departure for the right price, despite being interested in seeing what he can do in what’s starting to look like a pretty decent first 11.

Not against keeping Niang, but like Bacca, if they don’t really fit the system they are replaceable.

It would be interesting to have Ibra back too, but we don’t have good experiences with former heroes returning.

RUSKIN

Milan bring in zlatan ibrahimovic ,he is a free agent and will help make our team more solid cos with all this buy I don’t see any anchore in the team ,IBRA is so good at team work and adds value to a team

Deb

Ibra means Mino Raiola again. You sure you want the club to go down that road again my friend. No doubt about his quality but that piggy agent will ask for a salary that will make Fassobelli have a heart attack.

andimakmur

Great! Good price for this young and versatile player. One thing to wait is the OFFICIAL news haha
By the way, Hachim Mastour’s contract is expired. Anyone know what happen to him? Is he really overrated?

nick

I doubt Milan will renew Mastour contract. He will be playing Fifa 17 like the rest of us. He’s probably just waiting on the release date. Smh

Milan should sign dani Carbero for 20 min and Lucas moura for 25 we will win the title

Milan10

If signing like this still wont convince the naysayers that milan can win the scudetto than im afraid nothing will. What a fantastic #10 calhanoglu will be. Still, i think milan still need proper cb and old skool dm for the mercato campaign to be considered perfect. In their best days, monto and loca are fantastic ballplaying dm in the mold of didi, falcao, redondo and albertini but milan still need makalele/roy keane type of player who can shield the defense with his tackling, zonal marking and interceptions. Biglia, krychowiak or maia would be perfect for that role. Matuidi, not… Read more »

With all due respect, I think those that think we can win the title are going a bit overboard. Is it possible? Of course it’s possible, but not likely in my opinion. It has been a fantastic mercato for sure, but we need a lot more than a bunch of new signings to aim for the scudetto, we need time. We have to hope the new players are all equally motivated and gel quickly. It’s going to be tough competing with a very strong and united juve squad that was been developing chemistry together for years and years. Like I… Read more »

Exactly. Very well spoken. I’ve said the same thing before. Milan10 amazes me, as this is basic football knowledge.

Still, nothing wrong with “hoping” for the improbable. By all means, let’s dream about the Scudetto. I know I will. But don’t expect it, or you will most probably be disappointed.

Milan10

Really mate? Basic football knowledge like good mgmt (like roma’s) doesnt guarantee league titles u mean? Mu post saf is perfect example of that

P.s.”Impossible is nothing” is adidas tagline so..

Ola

How on earth will you dream for what you don’t expect? And you guys want them to have a winning mentality.
Sometimes (especially when it comes to Milan) you have to take the bull by the horn.

Milan10

No offense mate but ur comment reminds me of a quote from that cute movie little miss sunshine, “A real loser is someone who’s so afraid of not winning he doesn’t even try.” Maybe im just blind naive optimist and i know i cant speak for everyone else but of all problems in the world, some milanisti are afraid of little disappointment from milan’s failure to win serie a? I expect that kind of attitude from madrid/barca gloryhunters but from faithful milanisti? I know milan have been though some difficult period (which is not worse than early ’80 and 96-98… Read more »

I get the enthusiasm and the optimism. After all it’s been quite some time since the last strong mercato. But I have to agree with RKaY and Kourosh. Surely it possible to win the scudetto but not likely. For sure it’s not something to demand for next year – contrary to CL which is a requirement. No team in history managed to succeed immediately after revamping their team: ManU last year, PSG, City, Chelsea. Most of them spent ridiculous amount of money bringing proven stars and still didn’t win in the first year. We have a very positive mercato so… Read more »

Like i said, 2011/2012 juve won the scudetto after finishing 7th the season before. 87/88 Ac milan, 94/95 madrid, 95/96 ac milan, bayern 98/99, 98/99 ac milan, 2000/01 roma, 2010/11 ac milan. Notice that i mention milan more than once? Milan always have what it takes to win scudetto. Why should we compare milan to psg, chelsea, man city, clubs that have next to zero histories? Winners like old berlu, florentino perez and abramovich share one quality, that is the burning desire to win. All of them never settle for 2nd places, especially after investing so much. Sacchi, del bosque,… Read more »

Kourosh

I like your optimism. It’s got nothing to do with being afraid though. Of course “we can” do it. Of course nothing is impossible. All Milanisti will (maybe secretly) hope for the Scudetto. Hell, we even wished for it the last few years with those horrible teams! But it’s all about being realistic. Putting it bluntly out there and making it “the objective” will do nobody any good, is all we’re saying. Most of all, the pressure will kill these young players, let’s start the season and then take it one game at time, eh? We’ll see how it goes.

Milan10

Like i said, I cant speak for everyone else but im fairly certain most of milanisti dont have problems with paletta, berto, deulofeu or even de judas leaving. That means milan have set the quality bar much higher than recent years, otherwise milanisti would lose their mind knowing de judas is going to juve. It speaks volume about milan newfound strength if they dont have problems whatsoever dumping de judas to juve. It means milan have grown much stronger thus have to set targets accordingly

Nas

@ Milan 10
I don’t often agree with you but this time I agree 100%
I can honestly say that even if we buy nobody else from now until the start of the season we have a strong chance of winning it and if I were the new owners I’d be telling montella that too

Milan10

Thats the spirit mate. And by spirit i mean force within our heart not baileys caramel kind of spirits

ak

You’re not a blind optimist, you’re someone who doesn’t understand football. Juve still had that incredible and experienced defence when they won the league, a rejuvenated Pirlo, and Marchisio and Vidal in their midfield. They had SEVEN of arguably the best players in the league at their position. Buffon the best GK, BBC the best defenders behind Silva, Pirlo the best player in the league, Vidal and Marchiso the best b2b mids in the league. Now, this Juve team has been together for years and have better quality, depth and chemistry than us. Napoli have a team that’s miles ahead… Read more »

Ah so by that logic juve already had 6 arguably best players in their respective positions in serie a before pirlo even came along despite finishing 7th in the classifica? Very smart and im sure u wouldve said exact same thing at that time. Im guessing u dont even consider conte and pirlo’s arrival the most significant change to the team. 100m (and counting) have been invested into ac milan, a club that beat juve twice last season, while other clubs have done nothing so far and u still feel inferior to juve AND napoli? Bonnucci wasnt all that great before that season though. He was very error prone before that. Even during that season he had his fair share of blunders, but after that he just kept on improving, other than that I agree with you.

Kourosh

You’re right. They already had experienced, quality players to build from, then they added the missing pieces. Our transfer market has been so far unreal though, it’s like playing a video game and buying a whole new team. I don’t remember Chelsea, Man City and PSG splashing like this immidiately after changing ownership. Those were smaller clubs trykng to get big and players were reluctant at first, but this is Milan, players want to arrive here so that makes it easier I guess. Almost all of them are too young though, so it will take time. P.S. : Bonucci still… Read more »

imadala

krychowiak and kjaer….

Milan10

Nice picks mate

Baresis Dream

I don’t know how Musscacio is in the air, but we need someone to defend against tall strikers in set pieces. Last season Montella had Kucka marked Kalanic and Roma’s striker (whose name I can’t remember now) on corners.

I would get Pepe (free transfer) and William Carvahlo as an extra CB and DM.

Milan10

Romagnoli, musacchio and even zapata are good in the air mate. Dont worry. Its the low passing that sometimes causes troubles for milan.
Pepe is great in the air too. He’s also good in grappling and hitting vital organs. Bruce lee himself wouldve been proud of him. He’s like dark phoenix character in x men comics, a total destruction hidden beneath lovely figure and face.

P.s. U dont know the name of serie a topscorer AND former milan target mate? *wink

Joe

I agree about Pepe, we don’t need a risk of playing with 10 men because Pepe does something stupid and gets sent off. Lol

Milan10

“It aint a foul if the opponent is still breathing normally” – pepe

Baresis Dream

Not Romag nor Palette can mark Dzeko, Mandukic, or Milik. I don’t know about Mussacchio, but I doubt you know, no offense.

Pepe is aggressive, and Messi is short. So what? He’s better and more experienced then practically anyone in our reach – in particular, Kjaar.

And no, scudetto is out of reach. Top 3 should be our goal; that’s already a tall enough order.

Milan10

Because uve seen dzeko or mandzukic beat milan defense in aerial challenge?
And yeah as a matter of fact i know musacchio is good in the air because ive seen him play for villarreal. Ive seen him bullying pepe around as well.
If pepe’s that good and available then im sure many teams including milan would come calling. Have u read anything about it yet?
So >100m investment and counting equals top 3 finish? Does that mean 30-40m equals 1 place higher in the table? So in order to finish 1st milan are 100-150m short? Duly noted

Milan_CRO

Have you seen Villareal – Roma 0-4 on 16.2.2017 ?Džeko made Mussachio looking ridicilous..
Maybe it was a bad day for the whole Villareal squad so he played worst then usual, but that was really bad.
Still better then Palleta,Zapata,Gomez or Romagnoli imo .Goin for Pepe or Kjaer would not be a mistake.

Baresis Dream

I’ve seen Romag and Paletta beaten in the air consistently this season; but it’s not only me – Montella lets Kucka mark the biggest airial threat. I noticed this in our first game against Napoli with Milik. Please go ahead and watch some reruns of last season to check on me. I’m not basing my opinion on some stats site, but on what I’ve seen all season. Why do you think Zapata played so many minutes last season? I think it’s because he’s the best we have in these situations (and unfortunately quite bad in many others). That’s why we… Read more »

I’m afraid i gotta agree with Milan10 on this one, Norman Vincent Peale once said “Shoot for the moon. Even if you miss, you’ll land among the stars.” we’re very lucky to be playing in europe this season, the season objective was ‘qualify for europe’ which we achieved only because both Juventus and Lazio who played in the Coppa Italia finals had already qualified for europe by the league table standings. Notice even when Milan were 2nd or 3rd on the table we didnt feel it was our rightful position as the players already had their minds on the europa… Read more »

I must be dreaming. We’re about to sign 6 players in the starting 11. By the early july.

imadala

If i we looked at portugal game.now..I think we still need a deadly striker,if bacca leave

Keep calm imadala. Playing for the national team is not the same as club football.

Just look at messi who is not the same player when he plays for Argentina compared to Barcelona. Night and day!

RUSKIN

bacca shud stay, from what I see from silver bacca I’d a better finisher

ted

It depends on what formation Montella will use, if he plans to play two up or two behind or with no.10 in the whole then I think Andre Silva shouldn’t have problems scoring. Of course neither would Bacca if he had proper feeder.

For me proper formation with players at disposal and ones to come yet (Calhanoglu, Conti and a regista) would be 4312, 4321, 4231

For now:

Donnarumma
Conti Roma Musa Rodriguez
Kessie Locatelli Bonaventura
Suso Calhanoglu
Andre Silva

Baresis Dream

I like your formation, but I would switch Bona and Hakan. We are already accustomed to playing Jack and Suso on the wings, and honestly they performed quite well last season.

1milanfansouthafrica

Awesome comments but i think we can suprise ourselfs this season after what Montella did last season.

Milan shld aim for d scudetto! And dats y we shld retain some of our old players like monto n romag so dat it won’t be all new…We can’t aim lower…Juve has an edge but even with d little resources, Milan was 3rd until d collapse…Dis team shld be able to dispense of supposed smaller teams against whom we had problems last season….Milan will win with enough tranquility

This is what I think of this whole “we can win the league”-debate. First of all, theres A LOT of new players to work with, second of all they all have to gel/get acquainted to our league since only Kessie knows Serie A, well Borini too but..yeah, and then Conti will be added to the list. There is still a lot of work to be made from Montella. Milan10

Exactly

Milanista121

Hahah, well maximum would obviously be the scudetto now wouldnt it?
Roma are not scudetto contenders at the moment. They’ve sold Salah, Paredes, and one of Rudiger/Manolas are on the move, and they have a new coach. Like I said the mercato still has a long way to go, but currently Roma are an enigma, just like Milan is at this point. Only time will tell what these transfers will mean for the team.

Milan10

“well maximum would obviously be the scudetto wouldnt it” spoken like a true milanista. Thats the spirit mate

hbsl

Even though i would have love POLI to stay, then adding Calhanoglu will not be a bad idea. When will bertolachi leave please? We need to resolve the issue of Bacca and Lapadula to enable us plan for the season. Boroni is not the type of player we need but let’s see how the whole thing play out. We are making huge statement with the signing thou

Psalmist

All these new signings and possible teams are all so exciting. My only concern is communication in the group.

Usually there’s a language link in most clubs transfer activity. For communication and bedding a player into the group.

We have got so many different languages in our group now, just wonder if that’s not going to have an effect on our performances

RUSKIN

with the names that r brought in,Milan r not title contenders,we will end up in 5th position or manage a fourth position ,the change from the squad is just replacing players

Estefanomilano

I dissagree with u on this mate. Because for the first time after years we are strenghten the squad in every possition we have almost new players. The only thing iam considerd about is that they will connect togheter.

JOHN THE BAPTIST

Believe me, Belotti and one of Pastore or James will come in. I know its not easy selling these players but just a rough estimate here (hey dont wanna hear all those who comment and say ‘football manager’ ish), just carried away like Fasobeli, that all: (even though i dont want the sale of Bacca and Kucka it looks highly unlikely they will be here next season) so: sell: Bacca – 20m Lapadula – 10m Niang – 10m Honda – 10m Berto – 10m Sosa – 10m Kucka – 10m Monty – 10m Paletta – 10m Vangioni – 10m Abate… Read more »

My assumptions is based on a 3-5-2 formation

Hakan will be a very good transfer, because he is very creative and excellent freekicker and penaltykicker, we needed this profile of a player, we needed a number 10 in the team, a real number 10, not a joke like Honda.
