Mattia Perin seems to be the leading candidate to replace Gianluigi Donnarumma but there is still no agreement with Genoa over his valuation and there are also some questions surrounding his health.
Milan are in need for a new starting keeper after Donnarumma communicated through his agent Mino Raiola yesterday of his ‘definitive’ decision to reject the contract extension offered to him (5-year deal worth more than €5m per season).
According to Sky, Marco Fassone and Mirabelli have decided to focus on Mattia Perin. Sky reports on Friday that the Diavolo are offering Genoa €7-8m plus bonuses related to appearances, but il Grifone are demanding a higher figure.
Alfredo Pedulla suggests that Perin’s new agent Alessandro Lucci, who also helped Vincenzo Montella get to Milan last year, proposed the player to the Rossoneri. In addition to the price-tag (differences between offer and request), there is also a question mark about the physical condition of Perin, who is currently in the final stages of recovery from a second anterior cruciate ligament injury.
The player therefore could be asked to undergo checks so that Milan would be able to determine his condition before proceeding with the negotiations. Sky states that Mirabelli likes the player (wanted him during his time at Inter) while Montella has already given his green light for the transfer.
The alternative to Perin seems to be Norberto Neto of Juventus. The Bianconeri are asking €10-12m for the former Fiorentina man who played 11 matches since 2015, and Milan consider it too much.
Perin is the best achievable alternative regarding the pure abilities. Of course it’s a high risk due to his injuries, but that amount (even the 11-12 million) worth a try.
I think we should go for Perin with Plizarri as the second Keeper. This would Mean Plizarri can be introduced gradually whenever we rest Perin

This kid can be a solid signing and with Abs help we can groom Plizzari’s to take over the reins in a few yews time.

This is the best alternative, and i think that if he wont be fit until the beginning of the season we can use Plizzari, and see how he performs. Perin is a really talented keeper, I would sure like him as Dollaruma’s replacement. Hopefully when Perin isn’t playing we can play Plizzari and in this way slowly intergrate him into the team.
I really have my hopes high on Plizzari, I hope he’ll become as great as we all hope he’s gonna be.
Its been a set back of Donnarumma’s news, but we cant let that beat our mercato which has been going well so far.

Very well said. Regarding Plizzarri, we need to be very cautious. We have to consider that this year won’t be 2015 or 2016. The expectations are much higher and I doubt if the 16yr old Donna would have any chance in a year like 2017. 2 years ago, the whole team was crap, nobody was expecting anything which was the perfect timing for 16-17yr old keeper. No pressure at all. But fortunately things change. So let’s better leave Plizzarri aside for some time.
Perin is a great option, the guy stated a while ago that he wanted Milan. He may be injury prone, but Plizzari is a great backup and if he ends up taking no.1 spot from Perin, great. We can’t expect Plizzari to be number 1 now though…too much pressure!

We can’t afford experiments these days. We borrowed money, and we have a plan, and if we don’t qualify to Cl next season, will be a big financial boo-boo. On the other hand we need 3 goalkeepers, and at this point we have 2, one being older than my grandfather.

It is better to have a proven goalkeeper and leave Plizarri for Copa Italia to start warming. Are you implying that we will not become as big as bayern? When we become as big as bayern, then all players in the future Milan squad won’t be tempted to risk changing clubs just for the sake of playing for “bigger club”. For a player to move side, they will have to adjust to new culture, new system, new teammates, new leagues environment, etc.

Any decent goal keeper will do the trick. We just need a compact midfield and defence. I like Perin, even more his schoolboy hair style. Leno is another option. Mila have enough goalkeeping talents to lose sleep over Donna. Plus our style of play is possession based which means the keeper won’t be facing too many shots except on big occasions. It’s too risky plus you lose a bit of ability from major surgery in my experience.
