Mino Raiola has denied reports that Milan have given Gianluigi Donnarumma an ultimatum, and said ‘after international duty, Gigio will go on vacation, then we’ll see what happens’.
All the major sport newspapers in Italy this morning reported that Milan have given 18-year-old Donnarumma an ultimatum: either renew your contract or stay on the bench for the entire next season, until his contract expires in 2018.
His agent Mino Raiola, however, spoke to Radio Deejay on Saturday and insisted these rumours are completely media fabrications.
“Nobody said Gigio doesn’t want to renew with Milan,” Raiola said. “I don’t think Milan directors said such a thing [about leaving him in the stands] either. I think they’re just trying to create war between me and Milan. After international duty, Gigio will go on vacation, then we’ll see what happens.
“We are talking to Milan, we’ll see. We’ll evaluate certain things and there will be others to evaluate too. I don’t take anyone away as a free agent. Obviously, this is a difficult situation. I’ve to look after the interests of Donnarumma without letting myself be influenced by the public and journalists.
“I have to find the best solution for him [Gigio is wanted by many foreign clubs]. We are evaluating many things and the evaluation process is not over. It’s still early to decide Donnarumma’s future. I don’t understand why he has to decide a year-and-a-half from the end of his contract.”
Tomorrow Donnarumma will take the field, and Milan fans hope that it won’t be the last time they see the man who is destined to replace Gianluigi Buffon in the Italy goal, wearing the red and black shirt.
