Giacomo Bonaventura and Carlos Bacca are still not training with the group and their condition stays a question mark heading into Sunday’s match.
Vincenzo Montella said after the match against Crotone that ‘I hope to recover Giacomo Bonaventura for the Roma game’ but the optimism regarding Jack’s return has turned into pessimism.
Also today (Saturday), Bonaventura – together with Colombian striker Carlos Bacca who hasn’t featured since the Derby della Madonnina – trained apart from the squad and according to Sky Italia, they are big doubts for the match on Monday night against Roma at Stadio Olimpico (21:00 CET).
Lapadula will certainly get the start if Bacca won’t make it (some would say he’d still start even if Carlos was fit) but the bigger issue is in midfield as the Rossoneri will also miss Juraj Kucka who’s out with a suspension (will be replaced by Pasalic). Sky reports that Jose Sosa or Andrea Bertolacci could get the start, although Matias Fernandez has fully recovered and should also be considered.
Sosa played against Crotone and was criticized by the media and the fans for his performance while Bertolacci hasn’t played a minute since the first Matchday as he struggled with an injury.

No Jack and Kucka (and Monty) against Roma?? Thats our whole starting midfield…
Montella I hope you will change our formation or at least make some changes cause Locatelli – Sosa – Pasalic trio is not good enough to hold Roma… We need one more midfielder in there or more help from Suso and Niang (wingers)…
Anyhow, good luck, I wish we will be second for Christmas :)
Even with a draw we would be happy!
agree
Without Jack, I’m afraid we won’t have much to say in this match. He’s too crucial for our midfield right now.
Let’s hope for the best anyway.
I just have to hope that Sosa won’t play. That guy played horribly in the last match and overall this season.
If Bona and Kucka will not be playing, then we only have one midfielder left that is Locateli. Every other players are big time mediocre and flops. Then loss is guarantee. At least with Bona and Locatelli plus any other flop player we can still play for draw.
FORZA MILAN!!!!
How do you expect a win from Milan when you already condemned ur own players by ur own mouth. Learn how to praise ur players even when they are down to bring the best in them.
This is exactly what our problem is going to be because of a lack of funds in the new year I had hoped that we could of held it together until January when reinforcements could of been made after the Chinese money had arrived but now that’s gone and I seriously doubt we have the kind of quality players needed to hold on to second place or even third We’re always going to be just 1 or 2 injury’s away from disaster because our squad is just not good enough in terms of having back up players to come in… Read more »
Come on guys Jack or no Jack let go do it. Football is all about determination. We are whole household nam so let go beat them in Rome. Milan forever
hell yeah
Yea
I don’t know why is everybody hammering pasillic. He isn’t great but he is not a liability as well. Yes sosa had a hugely disappointing game against Crotone but that was only his second start. In his first appearance, his wide array of passing was quite impressive but of course now that we have locatelli sosa’s passing is less important in some sense. missing out on Bonaventura is a loss but it not a total disaster. Sometimes bonaventura push too far up that de sciglio had to follow suite to close the gap and de sciglio got the blame for… Read more »
@ Apache and Ck you both have at least given some of us reason to watch the and not concede defeat defeat before the match day. The midfield may look bad but not a disaster and I strongly believe that these crops of players can pull of a surprise for the last time I checked Roma are not invisible.
Montella should think about working with different formation that can work with the squad quality when key players are missing and obviously with 4.3.3, Bonadinho and Kucka are our best midfielders who would be absent. Character and luck could win us the game of course with our quality drop in midfield but realistically it would be very difficult. Let’s hope Montella can bring home at least a draw and we work to get 3 points off them in the return leg at San Siro. I believe compact counter can still do it for us even with the players missing because… Read more »
Agree. Our available players must show that they are deserved to wear this shirt. We can beat Juventus even we lost posession. Lucky for us that we don’t miss any of our first back four. Poli would be useful in midfield to strengthen our defense. But if we would play counter attack, it would be easier to use 4231 formation than 433. Put Loca and Poli in front of our defense. Pasalic up front.
Both Sosa and Bertolacci were mysterious signings in my book so let’s just hope Bonaventura can make it.
Bonaventura is the only player that can take the game to roma buy we can still try out mati because he can also dribble. Sosa won’t be bad for protecting locatelli. Any way I still see us winning because of team work. Forza milan
with…
Amelia
K.Constant-Salamon-Vergahra-Didac Villa
B.Traore-Emerson-S.Muntari
R.Oliveira-Pazzini-Dhoraasoo
we will still manage to beat this roma
Pazzini is not good enough for this line-up, put him on the bench, move R. Oliveira to the ST position and put Mancini (the Brazilian on loan from Inter) on the right wing.
With this line-up, I assure u K. Constant would score an own goal, same goes for Muntari. Dzeko would score a hat-rick and Pjanic would get a beace…
somebody tell Montella, we need more bodies in the midfield, please no 4-3-3. I strongly think a 4-2-3-1 would do. please play Poli to pair Loca like @Agustinar rightly said, also play Mati in place of Bona.
#forzamilan!
Pjanic plays for Juve
We are Acmilan we are goin dere to show them that we are young milan so it is 3 point for sure
I love your determination *APACHE* ( LET’S GO BEAT THE IN THEIR BEDROOM” forza milanisti
Ahead of the rome derby, Spaletti praised Lazio while also stating that “theyre not barcelona”. I hope we go into the game with the same approach. Bacca not making it isnt as vital as Kucka or Bona, but if we go there and play as we know how and play as a team, well, anything can happen. Lets hope for the best! Forza Milan!
I don’t know if bertolaci is ok, but he cld prove useful today n I also think 4231 will be d best approach vs roma with poli n locatelli in front of defence, niang, sosa, suso behind lapadula….
Guys keep cool;the match is going to surprise Roma like how yesterday Manchester city are been surprise by vardy.that’s what lapadula will do tomorrow so more vim and more fire to Ac Milan
I am sorry for myself and for you guys, but we will lose this match. Big time.
And we still would be in the top 5 then. So it is ok.
You said we were gonna lose against Inter as well, so keep saying these things, and hopefully our team will prove you wrong time and time again.
I know, but Inter was a bit better then. But I am more convinced about tomorrow, very fee hesitations. As roma will walk over.
Yes
I believe My Milan will hit them hard tomorrow even without Bacca and bonaldinho I just wish we take the super coppa this December against Juv with that we can have a moral boost toward the January window.
I have nothing to say until after the match… but I hope for a win FORZA MILAN!!!!!
