Roberto Donadoni feels ‘that Milan’ of Berlusconi is ‘untouchable’ and shared a story about President Silvio.
Silvio Berlusconi will be celebrating his 80th birthday on the 29th of September 2016 and after Carlo Ancelotti spoke of il President, ex-player and current Bologna coach Roberto Donadoni shared his thoughts on the former prime minister.
“Milan represent the great majority of my professional career. My city Bergamo launched me into calcio but then to wearing the Milan shirt was a dream. I learned a lot from Milan,” Donadoni told Milan TV.
“The future of Milan? I can’t predict the future but I don’t think it will be easy to repeat what the Milan of Berlusconi did. As an old Milan fan I hope they can start winning soon, but I think ‘that Milan’ is untouchable. The foreign ownership (a Chinese group will soon complete the buy of the club)? Today, globalization leads to that. Maybe you lose a bit of the identity but if people want to do things seriously then all can benefit from it. It’s the people that make the difference.
“An anecdote about President Berlusconi? Once he took me by the arm at Milanello and he asked me what I think other people thought of him. It was hard to answer but then he intervened and said that he is certainly a person who has the skills – but he is also the person who gets up early in the morning and goes to bed late. This response helped me so much in the rest of my career.”
Donadoni – a former midfielder – played for Milan from 1986 to 1996 and again from 1997–1999. Together with Berlusconi and other legendary players, he won 6 Scudetti and 3 UCL titles.

I dont think it could be repeated even if milan had best football mgmt in the world. But achieving 1/3 of those trophies berlu won would be more than any other team could hope for. Thats how legendary milan under berlu was
Milan is a big club! i.hope they get back i love this shirt for real
It would be nice to have all the stars and legends of the Berlusconi era in one room and on global TV and have them reminisce on such an excellent era, and to thank him in person. Bravo, Berlu, Bravo! I have my hankie ready for the tears when that happens… Forza Milan, Forza!
Why this guy hasn’t been given a chance by Berlusconi yet though to coach Milan is a mystery.
