Alessandro Matri has left Milan, this time for good as Sassuolo confirmed his arrival.
Matri joined Milan in 2013 for €11 million (paid in installments) from Juventus and his experience was everything the fans thought it would be as the striker flopped with the Rossoneri colours.
Matri was sent on loans to Fiorentina, Genoa, Juve and and Lazio over the past 3 seasons and now he’s leaving on a permanent basis to join Sassuolo Calcio.
“Even though these recent years you have played with different teams, you have always represented the values of the Milan family,” a statement reads. “Today we say goodbye to you, Alessandro, a great guy and an exemplary professional. Best of luck from everybody here at Milan.”
Matri underwent the medical check-ups and signed the contract with Sassuolo. He had one year on his Milan deal and it’s reported that like Jeremy Menez, Milan agreed to let him go for free.

I remember curva sud and most of us here yelling “matri ? No!” Galliani’s response was “the fans has no business with transfers”. 11 million was given to juve to purchase our target (tevez). Allegri asked for him too and thats why i will never forgive allegri and galliani. We threw away 11million bertolacci would soon go for free too. Pathetic!
Let’s not be assholes about one of our own. matri was a youth product, he left, played amazingly for Cagliari under Allegri. It was only natural he would want him to come with him, unfortunately it took too long and Allegri was sacked. Matri came in, without fuss, loving that he had come back home, and what happened, he had 15 appearances for us, was shipped off every season, and the youth prospect was loaned out, only ever getting a few appearances and still he scored goals. You’re just looking at statistics, why was he bought for that much, why did he only get 15 games. If he was brought in the year Allegri moves things would have been different. I may be on my own but so what, I support our players
Totally agree with you, he gets bashed unnecessarily much, he needs a well functioning team around him, no wonder he did okay at Juve, Genoa and Viola, so-so with Lazio but they were up and down which proves my point. Matri has never been fuori classe, a world class player, but he is a solid player and a true hard working professional. He’ll probably do well at Sassuolo, and wouldnt be surprised if he would score a hat trick against us as well haha.
If he was good the clubs he went out on loan to would have bought him, duh…
he supposed to go for at least 1- 2m but all the way its the best news in Milan history after bonera.

Galliani had been fooling around with Milan’s transfer budget for the past few seasons and might be earning quite a large sum of it personally.
He should have been asked to step down when Barbara stepped in the management.
the menez deal does not make sense, if you were going to get rid of him for free, then should have kept him. telling you he a good player. Management at milan is so sh*t, it is unbelievable!!
