Milan’s second non-EU slot set to be taken by Jose Sosa, Cuadrado and Bentancur no longer possible

Gustavo Gomez and Jose Sosa will fill Milan’s two non-EU spots for the summer window; it is not possible to get more non-EU slots by selling players.

There are two more weeks until the summer mercato ends but in these 14 days, Milan won’t be able to sign players that don’t have a European passport.

Gomez, the first-ever Paraguayan to play for Milan, and Jose Sosa, who was born in Argentina, are both new signings for the Rossoneri (Sosa will officially join on Wednesday) and they will fill the only 2 spots that Milan have for non-EU players.

This means that potential moves for Juan Cuadrado, who was believed to be one of Vincenzo Montella’s main requests, and Rodrigo Bentancur, who Milan spent a week trying to sign but found no success (also due to Juventus’ first refusal clause), are no longer possible for the Diavolo.

Every summer there is confusion whether it’s possible to get more spots by selling non-EU players and of course that it’s not the case as Adriano Galliani – like everyone – only had 2 spots to use.

Well, it is what it is. No point in moaning now that it’s done.

I expect Galliani to at least use the other half of that 15m budget on bringing another player.

El Ghazi has been offered, so just wrap our summer up n focus on how to use these guys we’ve got. Then there after we can start thinking how to spend wise n big this coming Winter

I prefer El-Gazi much more he is very strong so im happy if they get him. But milan need to secure Riechedly Bazoer from ajax also, so Mauri and Bazoer can be the future of ac milan midfield.

imadala

i guess 7th place again, 6th place if we are lucky

Sosa is not that bad beside his stats over the last three season as been very good… I think he will bring creativity to our midfeild… And he can look over mauri and lucatelli help them to develop.. I would rather Sosa than monty anyday… Forza Milan good luck Sosa.

With the remaining cash, it would be nice if we use it up on another midfielder. Last season one of our main weakness (if not our main weakness) is that our midfield lacked creativity to construct goal scoring passes in the opponents half. We just signed Sosa, and i hope that our mercato doesn’t finish with him, if we can get another CM or winger that would be a step in the right direction. Another reason for Milan’s need for a one more midfielder is because honestly speaking, the majority of our midfielders are very shitty. Poli, Montolivo, Bertolacci to… Read more »

I would rather see More of Vido and Cutrone in the striker position and Cosimo La Ferrara on the wing left or right and Ivan de santis as center back! More youngsters

Justin

Makes sense when you consider how most of the first team underperformed anyway, so what is there really to lose?

Kourosh

For the love of God don’t even mention Cutrone. He’s so horrible I cringe when I think of him. You would have known if you had watched the under-18 tournament.

Milan is officially at the second grade team in Seri A. WTF

vinz

The club certainly wont be able to improve its squad till Galliani is out.
What’s the purposes of having scouts at the club but cant be utilise effectively..
No wonder Braida moved to Catalan….

Christian Darmanin

What about Vangioni? Haven’t we brought in 3, rather than 2, non-EU players?

Cage

He came before the league ended….

Montenapoleone

Vangioni has an EU passport.

Guys guys guys! Calm down! With all due respect to the writers on this blog, they somehow manage to miss one really important thing about Sosa and eu places: Sosa, has an eu passport! He isn’t going to take a non eu slot at all! You could still argue that he is a shit player and is not an improvement on anything we have except for maybe bertolacci, even Poli I think is better. My main concern here is that we won’t have enough budget left for bentancur-a much more talented and promising prospect. But non eu slots? Naaaah, tabloid… Read more »

Good news is we’re weaker in midfield than in the flanks. We have Bona and Niang. So Sosa might just have been what we needed. Maybe Cuadrado later.

We made a big mistage in signing Jose Sosa to our team, because he is not a long term solution for us and he will take one of our teams foreign players spot from our team, that we must have saved that foreign players spot to a world class players and not bust signings like Sosa was!
