Milan can only sign players on loan with option to buy (or free agents) and it’s reported that as a result the Rossoneri have ended their interest in Musacchio.
Milan haven’t made a single signing since the 24th of June and this situation is unlikely to change unless the Rossoneri manage to sell high-profile players like Carlos Bacca or Mattia De Sciglio.
Silvio Berlusconi and Fininvest are refusing to finance this transfer market while the negotiations for the sale of the club will only be concluded after the mercato ends. This means that Milan and Adriano Galliani, who is spending the majority of this summer on the beach, can’t really do anything to strengthen the squad of Vincenzo Montella.
Yesterday Galliani travelled to Valencia and had a meeting with Villarreal President Fernando Roig to speak about Mateo Musacchio. As reported by Sky Italia, Uncle Fester made an offer to sign the 25-year-old center on loan with option to buy next year for about €22-23 million. Villarreal rejected it and Sky reports that Milan will no longer try to sign the player as they can’t pay for him now.
La Gazzetta dello Sport mentions that Shkodran Mustafi (24) could be a target now although it remains to be seen if Valencia will accept the loan + option offer which Villarreal said ‘no’ to, and Milan probably cannot meet the asking price. There are also free agent options like the 33-year-old Alvaro Arbeloa (even though he’s not really a center back) and 29-year-old Martin Caceres.
But Sky reports that these profiles are not entirely convincing the red and black club since they are trying to avoid signing ageing players with big wages. Milan are unable to offer anything other than loan + option as they still don’t have any guarantees that they will have money next year (and therefore cannot offer loan + obligation to buy which clubs are much more inclined to accept).
Jose Sosa is also on standby and Milan can’t complete his signing for €6-8m. Juan Cuadrado and Mateo Kovacic are both difficult. If nothing changes, Milan will stay as they are right now.

Pathetic
Im not pushing for Sosa, but if we cant afford 6m for a player we shouldnt even play in serie a, this is disgrace!
If Berlu really loved the club he would invest at least 30-50m for us to get two decent players… At least as a parting gift…
But no, selfish old man wont give a penny more to Milan… And he has milions… It shows that Milan is just a toy for rich old man.. Toy with expired expiration date..
Decent players? All we have are decent players. They’re all mediocre players. If they sell any of those two then they are morons. Selling the people who are just eating up space and who are sellable should be sold. Then with that money and putting together this own money to buy a great player. Not a decent player. I’m done with DECENT. i want GREAT. Everyone wants that and that’s what we must strive for unless they want to invest in youth players
That is what I told everyone would happen – Berlu is a politician.. do any of them tell the truth?
This is getting ridiculous, but as was predicted. Galliani and Berlusconi are doing some dirty jobs with the money, they always overpay for a player, or overprice a player which later joins other club on a lower price, i don’t think they are that stupid. Now we are only left to hope for the best, but after this season.
I have hope and believe in MILAN, very soon I’m expecting good news
Good feller. Keep hoping.
Well done mr. Frogman. Thank you so much for our soured summer
Pray for Milan I am going to Redeem convention I will do so
Juventus has Dybala-Higuain, Inter soon to have Gabigol-Candreva, Milan pushing hard to sell Bacca/De Sciglio… F*** you AC Milan!
Surprised we could afford the airfare for Galliani’s trip to Valencia…Worrying times.
Pls leave him and go for mustafi more than him.
And now a whole milan has no money to buy what a shame.b&g you have done enough to give us this shame.
Lol…
Serie b loading…
The bald oldie could have at least sold Menez for 5 million and used that money for Sosa. Used Poli and kucka/matri as swap for zeleinski. This guy has no reasoning skills anymore.
I dont agree with you on kucku.. his an engine room if hes best used…
Kucka should stay..
This club has become a joke not even gonna waste my time watching this season if they doesnt make some huge signings at the end of the transfer market… I am really dissapointed and angry Milan cant do anything right and i hope no fans buy anymore season tickets i heard they sold 6000 so far and Portsmouth has sold 12000 LOL
Berlusconi and Galliani are frauds. Something seems fishy here. They both are criminals and should be prosecuted for money laundering and tax evasion.
After all, Galliani was named in the Panama Papers.
An article was also published this week on how much Milan have made Genoa rich over the past 8 years by buying even their worst players like Kevin Constant and Birsa at ridiculous prices.
Dont forget antonelli,kuco
AC MILAN WANT TO COMPETE WITH THE LIKES OF JUVE, INTER, ROMA, NAPOLI AMONGST OTHER. ALL THESE BIGGER CLUBS ARE REINFORCING THEIR TEAM WITH NEW AND QUALITY PLAYERS WHILE MY CLUB, MY MILAN ONLY TRYING TO FORCE THE SALE OF HER KEY PLAYERS THAT CAN PUT FEAR IN OPPONENT ON THE FIELD OF PLAY. CAN ANYONE ADVICE BERLUSCONI AND GALLIANI NOT TO COLLAPSE THIS GREAT AC MILAN. CARLOS AND DE SCILGIO ARE AMONG KEY TO SUCCESS FOR MILAN NEXT SEASON OR ELSE IT IS BERLUSCONI AND GILLIANI THAT SEAT AND WATCH FAKE AC MILAN MATCHES ONLY.
Lets see wat does the youth academy holds for us… let us once again believe on the academy who have produced legends for us…
I feel positive about our young players… only if we manage to retain and give them a chance… Starting from MDS, Niang, Calabria, Locatelli, Donnaruma, Rodrigo Ely, Zanelleto and Luca Vido. Apart from them we have Mauri, Suso, Romagnoli… We have a good set of young players.. The coach and these players are the only positive signs I see at milan
Inexperienced youth aged 17-18 with raw talent cannot give us glory, maybe in 5+ years they could play a bigger role if managed properly but now we need stable and mature players with ability to bring us somewhere.
Stop mixing virtuality (fm, fifa) with reality people!
MDS, Niang, Donnaruma, Romagnoli, Suso are our sure starters… Seeing Montolivo’s bad performance and Locatelli’s performance in U-19 European Championship… Locateli or Mauri can take over the regista role from monto. And Calabria have already started a few matches for us in the last season… This talent is not Raw, man. I can see it…
Why be negative saying this isn’t “FIFA” or reality? Of course this isn’t FIFA, but Maldini has a point, if Milan are this cash-strapped, they will have to focus on youth, so why not establish a “project” that develops and focuses on their youth players. Would you rather have the club continue as is for the next five years? Or actually make something great happen in five years?
Leave the squad as it is and we’ll see what Montella is made of for the first half of the season!
How are the mighty fallen! Much as people blame Berlusconi, I think the real culprit of the Milan fiasco is Galliani. Last season Berlusconi invested in the team, but what did Galliani bring home? Let’s go back to that season when Barbara was to take over as Vice President and Galliani to leave. Galliani virtually blackmailed Berlusconi and the club by asking for an outrageous sum of money as severance package. Eventually, Berlusconi had to backtrack and made two Vice Presidents. Around that period, Milan had the chance to sign Carlos Tevez, instead smart-ass Galliani opted for Matri for about… Read more »
Bravo..!
Agreed! Braida was behind our great transfer on the past
Also don’t forget, galliani spent 178m to buy Genoa players in 8 years. Scandal!!
Pray for Milan I am going to Redeem
convention I will do so
LOL…
I really feel like we have to hope for Suso and Niang to the have season of their lives up front.
still believe in AC Milan whatever happen. But better if we sign a good player… for champions league table
This is what signing mediocre and old players bring, we can not even sell them and we have to keep them, some fans still want to get cheap mediocre old players, i understand that it’s not fans who sign them, but the fact that a Milan fan wants Sosa, Valero, Arbeloa and many others like them, it pisses me off. I read that Honda is unsellable, because we earn 1,2 Millions per year for selling his t-shirts, but aren’t we paying him more? What argue is that? If we are signing one of those old mediocre players then i would… Read more »
Well done for doing nothing Galliani now come home and dont travel again no club is going to accept loaning their star players out with no guarantee of a sale after the loan. Stay in your office and make phone calls instead of traveling around to sit at the table with €0000000
Where is Suracho???
Even though I’m not happy with what’s going with the mercato, I hope we don’t finish on the other side of the table. I have said to my friends since when Kaka was sold that Milan will dropped. I remember when they sold sheva, and it was that same person who killed us. They always said that Galliani is a Juve fan, look true to me, let Pirlo go to juve, gave juve the money by buying matri and allowing them to buy Tevez. Gives away Milan leaders to PsG. As a lot of people here mentioned Galliani is a… Read more »
It is unfair to condem Berlusconi (who spent hundreds of millions in the past) and Galliani (who brought many Balon d’or winners) for current Milan situation. The reality is lack of money. Berlusconi can no longer spend like before. Alternatives are 3: total sell ( tale-over eg chinese), partial sell (investment eg Mr Bee), or rely on Italian youth (eg our youth and primavera). All the options have risks and does not guarantee success. With current mind-boggling transfer fees (eg €94m for 29 yr old Higuian which does guarantee Juve will CL etc), soon transfers will hit €150-200 next season!… Read more »
even i believe more in youth project rather than selling the club to Chinese or anyone else. But for tat we need someone with great charisma(Maldini or Baresi) to hold the seat of sporting director
Berlusconi may be okay, but Galliani is not. We stopped getting quality Brazilian talent after Leonardo left and finally with the exit of Ariedo Braida, Galliani has been fully exposed as not the shrewd negotiator we thought he was. Now nobody takes him serious because the real people doing the job were in the background while he was getting the plaudits.
Right now the only thing that keeps me as a Milanista is Donnarumma nothing else if he wasnt there i would have given up on Milan already last season… I can tell all of you that the sale to the chinese has collapsed that is why Uncle Fester is flying all around europe with his desperate loan to buy option offers and why they signed Lord Lapadula our ”savior”
I hope we dont sell, manage to get at least a new quality centre back, and then focus on youth as said before. Locatelli and Mauri can act as new signings as Mauri was never used and loca is new. And perhaps Montella can revitalize Bertolacci. Our attack is set, our wing backs and goalkeepers are set. Just need a new centre back and 1-2 new midfielders, but we might have them within our ranks already. Verratti as an example was in Mauri or locatellis age when he was a starter for PSG.
I agree with the fact that we should build with youth. But why so many of fans here think that Berlusconi is the onlyone who wants the youth system? I am sure that whoever buys us (if we get sold at all) sees that we have talented young players in our team and just tries to build with them. And yes, our midefield definitely need atleast on good player in there, and in my opinion it should be priority over new CB.
I think that its because he spoke of a youth project in public. I just personally am not that into the new chinese ownership. Theyre prioritizing a new stadium and see Milan as a business opportunity rather than anything else. Feels like theyre neglecting the sporting aspects. Just my own personal opinion.
I can understand your opinion, but lets just say that the Chinese are in this for business reasons. They have to put a winning product on the field or fans and business investors will not want to invest. Its simple finances. I agree id like to see a foundation of Italian players as well, the problem with that is, all the good ones are too expensive for us to get. Veratti, Berrardi, etc. The Chinese will have no choice but to spend to make their investors and fans happy. My opinion of course
@philaldon, yes I understand that of course, but how is it going to be a winning product when its clear we need 1-2 more quality players in midfield and one in central defence? But thats okay, as long as we will have a nice youth project and actually focus on them. Of course I respect your opinion, but I would like us to remain Italian. @ted; I hear you man, but San Siro is HISTORICAL, despite it being so old its still one of the best arenas in the world when it comes to atmosphere, if not the best, might… Read more »
@Milanista121 – Prioritizing new stadium is what Berlusconi and Galliani should be doing 10 years ago! With new stadium and expanding its brand to far east Milan as a club would generate a lot of money on yearly basis. And I’m talking about club being selfsuficient not dependable on its owners what it is now!
We won’t sell before the market is over. So no new players will come.
But I trust Montella to atleast get us a Europa spot. Then next season, even with Chinese fund, they can’t spend anything because of FFP.
Both Chinese and Berlusconi must be blamed for not putting aside a compromise package for this summer. Atleast 20 million each would have meant 40 million for signings- enough for Mussachio+ Zielinski.
Just so irritating and disappointing.
I would rather keep this current roster of players than sign the likes of Sosa, Valero, and Arbeloa, which all 3 would be a waste of money. Montolivo can’t pass forward, so let Locatelli try. Berto can thrive under Montella’s system, so give him a shot. We need to sell or loan: Ely, Vangioni, Vergara, Kucka, Mauri, Poli, Adriano, Bacca. Milan’s current roster does not fit Montella’s preferred 4-3-3, but rather a 4-3-1-2. Jack lacks pace wingers need, Niang is so much better as a striker as he gets involved with the build up play and presses high. I believe… Read more »
Honestly, our situation right now is pathetic to say the least. No team that I know of in the big leagues is in a situation like we are in. And besides a cb. We are looking at the wrong players.. Why do we want to sign attacking players when we need a whole new midfield. Nothing against kucka cause he’s been good, but when he is the best cm on the team that shows the players we need. Forget about musacchio, I’d prefer mustafi anyways he’s cheaper and better. We should start off by getting mustafi then fully put our… Read more »
AC MiLoan indeed
The chinese deal is off. Suracho is the happiest man on earth. We will be so grateful of Berlusconi when Bacca, de sciglio romagnoli donnaruma are sold to clear the 200 million debts. Youth project????? We have been talk about this project since Allegri left. De sciglio and donnaruma are both our youth project. Looks like we will be losing them. Youth project is sustainable??? Yea if Berlusconi sells them then AC milan is sustainable. Just hope that we can compete for a europa spot.
I believe Berlusconi will only leave this club the way he found it. Bankrupt and relegated. The only hope for next season is Montella, or else Serie B inbound. I am sick to my stomach with Berlusconi and his running of this mighty club! #Lostallhope #Berlusconigtfo!!!!
How far behind is milan?
Hapoel Beer Sheva is playing qualification for CL right now..
Somewhere this very night, as I type this, a man is sitting back in a chair, staring in anticipation at the telephone in front of him . . His name is Maldini . . Paolo Maldini . .
