Milan are ranked in 12th place while Juventus is the most valuable Italian football club and Real Madrid leads the way for the 4th consecutive year.

Forbes released their “The World’s Most Valuable Soccer Teams 2016” list this week and Milan find themselves in 12th place with an estimated team value of $825m (which translates into €730m).

As reported on Forbes’ The Business Of Soccer study, Milan’s revenues in the 2014/15 season was $240 million while their operating income (earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization) was -29 million dollar. Milan’s debt (includes stadium debt) represents 32% of their value (roughly $264m).

Last season Milan’s team value was $775 mil according to Forbes so this year’s valuation is a 6.5% rise despite the fact that the Rossoneri have been struggling for results. In 2013 for comparison, the Diavolo were the sixth most valuable club in the world with a value of $945m.

Real Madrid are the most valuable club as they’re worth $3.645 billion according to Forbes. They are followed by Barcelona ($3.549 billion), Manchester United ($3.317 billion), Bayern Munich ($2.678 billion) and Arsenal ($2.017 billion). Manchester City come in 6th with a $1.921 billion valuation while Chelsea ($1.661 billion), Liverpool ($1.548 billion), Juventus ($1.299 billion) and Tottenham ($1.017 billion) complete the top 10. Dortmund are just ahead of Milan with a $836 million valuation.

Considering their lucrative TV rights deal, which is far superior to Serie A’s ($2.60 bil per season compared to $1.08 bil), it’s natural that the Premier League clubs make more than half of the top 10 on the list. For instance, Juventus are the only Italian club in the Top 20 when it comes to TV earnings ($113m) but are still behind the likes of Swansea City ($136 mil) and Stoke City ($131 mil).

While Milan are out of the Top 20 in TV earnings and are not in the Top 10 sides that make most money from kit and shirt deals, they are leading the way in the ‘Most Expensive Season Tickets’ list for the 2015/16 season. In fact, 6/10 are Italian sides with the Diavolo charge $5,177. They are followed by Palermo ($4,305), Lazio ($4,304), Fiorentina ($3,814) and Arsenal ($2,895).

This valuation given by Forbes roughly matches the reported offer of the Chinese group that is in exclusive negotiations with Fininvest and Silvio Berlusconi to buy the majority stake at Milan.

I Wondred Why …..
Where Is Our Great Milan???

Ouch!

Wow after a disastrous 5 seasons and we still at a respectable 12th place. Hopefully Berlusconi sells asap so we don’t don’t slump further down the pecking order.

I understand what u mean mate but How is 12th place respectable? Milan used to be in much higher place, even higher than barca and bayern.

Forza Milan

Like he mentioned it could have been far more worse due to past 5 year failures. So I will take the 12th position ofcourse with a pinch of salt. I hate Juve soo much and now it hurts to see them above Milan in earnings and in Serie A standings.

Milan10

Yes i know, hence “i understand”. but im on sheva’s side on this particular matter; milan should aim a little bit higher than this no matter how they perform season in season out.

Why do you hate Juve? we serie a fans should stick together. we are lucky that at least Juve is doing well and have some promissing pklayers on the pitch souch as Pogba and Dybala, if not for Juve Serie A would fall behind french Ligue 1 and portuguese lige in rankings. Me as a Inter fan would love to see Milan dominating in champions league again. Milan used to be the destination for world class players!

I’m surprised we are 12th despite 4 forgettable seasons. This club is massive and with good management, Milan will be back up there within 3-4 years.

Correct me if im wrong but even when milan won their last scudetto, teams like tottenham and arsenal were already worth more than milan. Hell Even newcastle were in top 20 most valuable clubs back then. So i think its not only due to performance decline, its more about bad mgmt. Milan died when they sold sheva and didnt build their own stadium when they had all the resources.

Italy are on top on season tickets though. Offering poor quality in return .So unfortunate
