Luca Antonelli scored a goal against Frosinone but it was not enough as Milan now chase Sassuolo for 6th place.

Mattia De Sciglio was preferred over Antonelli for the second match in a row but once again Luca entered as a substitute, this time replacing Ignazio Abate in the 73′ minute.

60 seconds later, Antonelli scored a great goal to give Milan hope that they can win the match. However, despite the late Jeremy Menez penalty kick, Milan only got one point from the match against Frosinone who sit in 19th place.

“Today we created a hatful of chances,” Antonelli said to the MC at the final whistle. “They had four shots and scored three goals. But bad luck isn’t the only factor as we cannot afford to pick up just one point from games with Verona and Frosinone. We now find Sassuolo ahead of us and we have to hope that they slip-up in the next two games. We struggle in the must-win matches and we don’t know why.

“We needed to win today to keep Sassuolo behind us. We now find ourselves chasing and that is far from ideal. We must give our all in the coming games, starting from tomorrow when we get back to training. My goal is dedicated to my new-born daughter Azzurra. I also promised I would dedicate this goal to my wife.

“I have mixed emotions as I would have preferred the 3 points.” There are only two matches before the end of the season: Milan face Bologna away next Saturday and then play Roma at San Siro.
