Leonel Vangioni has come to terms over a move to Milan but it remains to be seen if he will arrive in January or in the summer as a free agent.
Milan continue to work in the transfer market and although it’s clear that they need to sell before they can do anything, Adriano Galliani is trying to secure deals.
River Plate President Rodolfo D’Onofrio revealed yesterday that “Milan have sent a written offer to Leonel Vangioni. The lad needs to stay at River until June, then he’ll be free to go wherever he wants because he’ll be available on a free transfer. At best we’ll organize a friendly by way of compensation.”
Vangioni, who Milan have been scouting for a while, is a 28-year-old Argentine left-back / wingback, who has spent his entire career playing in the Argentine Primera División for Newell’s Old Boys and River Plate. He has an Italian passport so he won’t be considered a non-EU player if he arrives.
According to Gianluca Di Marzio, there is already an agreement with Vangioni’s father / agent and all that’s missing is a deal between River and the Rossoneri. It’s unclear if Milan will bring Vangioni in January or in a few months when his contract with the 2015 Copa Libertadores winners expires. Di Marzio reports that in any case Milan have asked River for permission to conduct the medical soon.
Sky also reported last night that Milan are more and more convinced by Ajax’s Anwar El Ghazi and if they can’t bring him in January then they will try to make another move in the summer.

Miha is a good coach and he can make SES star again. what we need is CM and CB. 2 CMs would be better but less likely. as things are going Nocerino, de Jong are on transfer market and Mauri might be loaned. Witsel is unrealistic for this January window. Same for Vazquez. Rugani will not be sold to a direct rival by Juve. Only El Ghazi is realistic.
does it mean they don’t trust Calabria anymore? Antonelli is the best wingback and i don’t think MDS will leave. Abate had few bad games but not that bad to sell him, in my opinion. i don’t like signings like him. always think that kind of players will become new Nocerino, Zaccardo….

MDS was switched to LB if you hadn’t noticed during Antonelli’s absence. he can play on both flanks. if you look at our wingbacks we have 1 that can play on both flanks, 1 LB and 2 RB. so MDS is practically LB because of Calabria. so getting a new LB would mean most likely Calabria will get even less time. and do you even watch Argentine’s league when talking about solid back-up?

He needs time to develop. I dont think anyone ever trusted him to be a starter, rather give him some space when the time is right. Like when we are leading vs smaller teams etc.

Another waste of transfer, another free transfer, another mediocre. we need good central defense and a good defensive midfielder to replace monti. Also another creative midfielder that will reduce stress on Bonaventura.
Mediocre? Have you seen him playing? I have, he is not a top 10 Lb , but he is very good! For free would be amaizing, specialy because MDS cant play that well on the left flank. Btw he is defesively more solid than antonelli.

109 appearances for river plate,one copa sudamericana,one copa libertadores…a very good cv in my humble opinion. But mr.Galliani, our main problem now is the midfield. Even a child learning how to play knows it that our midfield is full of uncreative players,we need midfielders not wingers…we need atleast two cbs and not a left back. Thank you!
Vangioni has been playing more recently as winger than a wing back. so I guess he would be definitely a good back up to Bonaventura. He can cross and dribble but his videos in you tube shows him to be pretty poor in defense. as far as back up for a 29 year old antonelli is concerned I would prefer someone younger, like Adam Masina who did well against us at San siro or Abdul Rehman Baba who was great with Augsburg but now rotting at Chelsea.

The things i concern about this player are his age and his salary (because he is free or will be much cheaper than his transfer fee). He is 28 y.o. and if he gets big wage because of no transfer fee, than it will cause problem if he doesn’t perform well. Its not what we need the most but it would be a usefull signing. But Milan should focus on the CB/CM position first. then they can get as many backups they want after they have a solid fundation.
