Mihajlovic: “We should have scored more, whistling at Milan players is unacceptable, the mercato…”

Sinisa Mihajlovic thought Milan should have pushed harder than they did in the second half against Perugia and says the clubs knows what’s needed in the market which ends in 13 days.

Milan beat Perugia 2-0 in the Coppa Italia last night with Keisuke Honda and Luiz Adriano scoring two great goals. The Rossoneri have advanced to the next stage of the Cup and they’ll face Serie B’s Crotone in December (the winner of that match faces Sampdoria).

The Rossoneri played very well in the first half but took their foot off the gas but as it turns out, those weren’t the instructions of coach Mihajlovic who wanted his team to keep pushing and trying to score more, especially after Perugia were reduced to 10 men in the 65 minute.

“We did well, but after our second goal we were happy to settle and I don’t like this because we always have to play by giving our absolute all,” Mihajlovic told Rai Italia after the match.

There was just one negative from this evening and I don’t understand how the fans can whistle a Milan player (Alessio Cerci). If they come to the stadium they have to cheer the side on. If they want to whistle they should do so after the match. It’s unacceptable. The players give their all for the shirt.

“Romagnoli and Ely? They did well, they were focused and switched on. We gave away nothing and it was a good test. We should have added more goals after the second however. Everybody played their part, it was not easy. It was the first match of the season, we’re on the right path and we must continue like this.

“Fiorentina? It will be a hard match. Every match in Serie A is difficult. Zlatan Ibrahimovic? I prefer to talk about players in my squad. The club knows what is needed on the transfer front.”

Mihajlovic got a rating of 6.5 / 10 from today’s La Gazzetta dello Sport for his management of yesterday’s game. The best player according to the pink newspaper was Keisuke Honda (7.5/10) who scored and assisted while the least convincing Rossonero on the pitch was Bonaventura (6/10).

“We wrapped up the result in the first half, but I did not like the attitude of the team in the second half because we must always give our all,” Mihajlovic, 46-years-old, told the Milan Channel. “We did well in terms of possession and we carried out what we have been working on in training.

“Romagnoli and Ely both played well, but thanks also to the rest of the squad. Our forwards are the first line of defence. Cerci? It’s not acceptable for the fans to whistle during the match. Menez? If he wants to play in behind the two strikers or as a support striker, he will have to do what’s asked of him. He has been training with the group for just 4 days and naturally he is lacking in match fitness.

“It’s never easy to win. We should never think about easy or tough opponents, but only about winning. The transfer market? The club will now evaluate the decisions to make (Mihajlovic wants to sign another midfielder). We will now continue to train as we have been doing ahead of the match with Fiorentina.”

“De Jong and Montolivo? I said I’ll play the best Milan possible and at this time De Jong is much better than Montolivo,” the former Sampdoria boss said to the press. “Then maybe in a month Montolivo will be better than De Jong and then Montolivo will play. Those who deserve it will play.

“What we see from Mihajlovic’s Milan? You see the organization, the character and the pressure. There so a lot of good things but there are many things that we need to still improve. Flaws? There are many, I can’t name them. Bacca and Luiz Adriano? They are not yet at their best.

“It will take a bit more time but only be playing they can recover their best form. The attitude of the team after the red card? I didn’t like it as after the red card we didn’t try to score a goal, we had possession but possession that I don’t like. We must always try to play to the maximum and always try to score goals.”

Serie A kicks off on Sunday for Milan and it will be a lot harder than last evening’s Coppa Italia affair. Fiorentina at the Artemio Franchi has always been difficult but Milan will hope to do it.

Mihajlovic… A good choice for this Milan… Only Bayern outplayed us in the pre-season and we all know they are one of the top two in the world at the moment, so that was expected. We gave Madrid a good fight. Mihajlovic beat his own INTER Milan twice and made it look easy. I’m very impressed.

I like this guy., Miha. No more scripted Pippo’s crap.
After this match I believe we should keep Menez. He can come of the bench and with his lightning pace light up tired defenses.
We need Witsel more then ever.

Hasowayne

Absolutely true about Menez.

ACMilanSince 69

No more Pippo. Amen.

It’s always nice to hear from miha. Glad that he didn’t approve that kind of second half game possesion. We should have scored more against 10 men. Hope they’ll continue to grow as organized team, like they did in the first half. Forza Milan!

abdoulie milan bah

yan bah

Ely remind me vidic I have a huge hope Ely will be one of the best defender in the world

Milanista121

So true about the fans jeering, if you wanna jeer do it after the match, but as long as the team is playing, we as supporters have to support every player out there who are giving their all for us, after all, they are human too!
Hope some of you fans here learn something from that.

Discipline is d key,and dats wat miha is trying to instill on d players, only those who deserve to play will play,u don’t play well miha tell it to ur face, period. No more favouritism only hardwork will give u a starting place. let the usual conspirators resume work, but this time around failure will be there portion.

We wrapped up the result in the first half, but I did not like the attitude of the team in the second half because we must always give our all So true I have seen this new Milan since Ibra left that always become lazy when we lead in second half thats not ok we should score 5 goal more if its easy we don’t even play 3 games per week like we did before we should play until we can’t even more we only have 1 game per week thats nothing we should have 3 with CL and still… Read more »

When you get many player at once you have to patient,
Remember our line up, bacca adriano brrtolacci ely romagnoli, 5 new player…!!
Its not fifa guys…
Thats why we lose to munich and spurs they have togetherness. We cant build top team at once. Chelsea man city psg takes time to be top team. Now, You guys still want add many player to come this transfer market? Witsel or ibra is superb additional but if they wont come its okay, maybe next year we can buy another quality player

rosso-138

funny how you mentioned clubs with money.. and said it takes time..

cloud

I means even rich team like chelsea man city cant buy trophy at first time, they buy many player but still takes times.. Come on, we have many new player, new coach, new formation, you still think can challenge madrid barca now? Im just said we need times to find our balance, togetherness, and tactical adaptability. We absolutely need creative midfielder but dont push hard, isco illaramendi witsel ibra, how many player you want to buy this season? I agree we need some quality player but i dont think it comes at one transfer market! We have 5 new member… Read more »

Tutti sport reporting that both Nocerino and Mauri will be offloaded to free up space for Soriano, Mauri is better than Soriano. Just when I was regaining trust in management this happens. Just get rid of Nocerino, Matri, Alex and Zaccardo. Bring in a midfielder who is BETTER than what we have not at the same level, we have the depth now, we just need the quality. We need consistency in midfield and currently the only midfielder we have that is a certain starter is De Jong. Our team at the minute has Lopez, Romagnoli, Antonelli, De Jong and Bacca… Read more »

Mauri is not yet ripe for milan,he should be loaned out.

NIco_pato

I love the attitude of Miha, Perugia isn’t Fiorentina. I hope they’ll do well against bigger opponents (starting Sunday). We don’t need Ibra, we have 3 good strikers. Lets buy one good midfielder and then we are ready to fight for a CL spot (or even the scudetto)

fan

u know why we need ibra? why berlusconi want ibra? why miha want it too? i still remember, el sharaway said ibra never let u as his mate do even a small mistake like miss passing even once during the match. ibra mentality is winning, with him everybody already feel they in lead every game. that caracter we dont have it right now, de jong is good but in oder to be back as champion leauge team, u need leader with ibra character. he might be 33 years old but , full of skill, full of experience, full of quality.… Read more »

Hasowayne

Anyone else read the Berlusconi interview on football-italia.net?

NIco_pato

Yeah, I did. So Ibra is still an option? I hope the midfielder he talks about is a good one (and not Soriano)

Mocubadeg

I saw one points of the article (miha wants another midfielder) Yeah, It must be Javier Pastore!!!

ACMilanSince 69

Why were they whistling Cerci?
