DIEGO LOPEZ cheered on his team from the sidelines but can’t wait to get back.

Milan will welcome Lopez back after the break (although it might be against Fiorentina and not against Hellas Verona as initially anticipated) and the keeper, who arrived from Real Madrid at no cost, is eagerly waiting to play again.

“I have a huge desire to get back to playing as it. It has not been easy to spend four games out on the sidelines, but I hope to return to being at the Coach’s disposal in the coming matches and I’m eager to get back and to do my job well,” Lopez said in an interview with the Milan Channel.

“I injured myself at Parma before controlling the ball. At that point I couldn’t control the ball, I wanted to react, but I had already hurt myself. When I was going to control it, the moment I put my foot down I felt an incredible pain. From there I lost sight of the ball, as if it was locked, and it went in. I watched the matches against Juventus and Chievo nervously and suffering from the stands! I cheered my team mates on however.

“I’m certain that we’re going in the right direction. My team-mates have explained to me that matches with Hellas Verona are always difficult. I hope to be available to the coach for the next match and return maybe as early as Monday and to lend a hand to the team in an important game. It will be a very important match. With 3 points it would allow us to climb the table.

“We need to have confidence in ourselves against a side that has the same number of points as us and will make it hard for us. We have to start collecting points away from home. Up until now we haven’t picked up many. We need to win at Verona and then we tackle another very important rival in Fiorentina. We wanted to win the latest matches. We defended well.

“Perhaps we felt the pressure of collecting 3 points. The squad is in good shape and needs the confidence of collecting points. The squad has talent and the desire to make up ground. It’s the coach himself who passes all of this onto us.”

If you had a good sense of positioning you probably would not have gotten hurt. In a way he reminds me of Amelia with the ease with which they concede long-range efforts. Almost always off their lines.
