DIEGO LOPEZ will miss the next 3-4 games for sure but Riccardo Saponara will miss more as he injured his knee.
Milan are top of the table after two Serie A games with 6 points after beating Lazio 3-1 at the San Siro a couple of weeks ago and beating Parma 5-4 at the Tardini yesterday, but they received some bad news today as their injury list expands.
The 4th goal Milan conceded was an own goal – De Sciglio back-passed to Lopez but the Spaniard got injured when he tried controlling it, suffering an injury to his thigh and today tests were performed and the outcome isn’t what they hoped for.

Inzaghi: “A deserved win, Milan need to continue with this heart”
As reported on Milan’s official website, Lopez “suffered a right thigh injury. He will be evaluated in a couple of weeks.” It of course means that Lopez will not play in the Saturday showdown against Juventus on Matchday 3 and is also ruled out of the matches with Empoli, Cesena and probably also Chievo. Veteran goalkeeper Christian Abbiati will step in his place.
Alex da Costa also sustained an injury during the game yesterday and his condition was too evaluated earlier today. “The defender meanwhile is struggling with bruising to a muscle in his right thigh. In the following days there will be further tests to determine the prognosis,” the statement on acmilan.com adds. It remains to be seen if Alex will be ready for the game with Juventus but if he doesn’t play, Adil Rami and Cristian Zapata will start in defense, since Daniele Bonera is banned.
But that’s not all injury news – as revealed on Milan’s site “Riccardo Saponara suffered an injury to his left knee during a tackle in this morning’s training session. The footballer was taken straight away to the ‘Istituto Ortopedico Galeazzi’ in Milan where tests and a visit from specialist professor Herbert Schonhuber revealed damage to the collateral ligament and the meniscus. Tomorrow morning Saponara, with the assistance of Milan’s medics, will undergo keyhole surgery.” The early indications suggest that the 22-year-old midfielder will miss the next 4-6 weeks but things will be clearer on Tuesday.
Fernando Torres is expected to be fit for the game with Juventus this Saturday but Stephan El Shaarawy remains a major doubt. Coach Filippo Inzaghi will hope to have Torres, El Shaarawy and Alex recovered as Juventus are the biggest test yet.

Saponara is very unlucky……
Bad news but I hope we regain elshaarawy for juve clash….the team spirits is high.forza inzaghi
ahh the curse of the juventus match. prior any match a starter of milan has to be ruled out, since we are spoilt in attack and bonera was sent off i thought we broke the curse..all of a sudden alex injured and diego lopez suffers this -.-
2-1 for milan vs juve..
please El92 dont be pato
bonera proved it again. it’s just too pathetic. bonera please don’t become zaccardo, have some self-respect. we need to get rid of these 2, albertazzi and mexes. well essien and pazzini are just another useless players that we need to get rid of. all of them yearn more than 10m in a season. so i hope we will make good transfers this winter and next summer and our squad will look like this:
