Report: Milan make new €13 million bid for Cerci

24

MILAN CONTINUE to work on signing Alessio Cerci and Adriano Galliani had two meetings with Urbano Cairo yesterday.

The Rossoneri backed out of the race for Torino’s Cerci but got back to it in full swing. Filippo Inzaghi wants a left-footed right winger who can score 10-12 goals per season and the 27-year-old remains at the top of the red and black list.

The budget of Milan is not as big as the fans would’ve liked but it seems that the resources will be invested to sign Cerci (or another winger in case Milan fail to get him) and maybe also a midfielder will be brought although it’s not a priority now.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Milan Vice President Adriano Galliani had two meetings with Torino President Urbano Cairo on Tuesday in which they discussed Cerci (it was also used to define the co-ownership of Gianmario Comi who has been bought out by Milan but will stay on loan at Avellino in Serie B). Torino still demand €18 mil for the Italy international.

The pink newspaper claims that Milan and Torino are working to bridge the gap between supply and demand and the Rossoneri have made a new offer worth €13 million. It appears that the Toro club wants a youth player to be included in the deal as well and an inclusion of a youngster could be the thing to unlock the operation. Gazzetta is suggesting that one of the players that Torino like is Zan Benedicic but the player has already been loaned out to Leeds United for the season.

Atletico Madrid are keen to sign Cerci as well and their offer remains €12 million plus €3m in bonuses. Galliani is looking to use his good relationship with Cairo as they are old friends, and also the fact that Cerci (reportedly) prefers to stay in Italy than move to Madrid or Monaco (despite the fact that both of them can offer UCL football), and strike a deal in the next days.

It is reported that Milan and Torino have agreed to conclude the talks next week (whether it’s a success or a failure) and coach Inzaghi is hoping to get some good news soon as Cerci has always been his top option for the right winger role.

How sick I will get if in the end all we do is sign Cerci and close our Mercato. That Midfield is really not of any standards, it’s so unstable and unbalanced. With regards to our defense, we can only manage because I am very sure they are not thinking of signing anymore defenders.

Some Guy

Cerci and Grenier, and I think we’ll do well, or at least better. The midfield won’t look nearly as awful with Nigel back, he’s like a whole new signing.

Hasowayne

Yeah, valid point.. Haven’t forgotten about my SPARTAN. Nigel DE JONG.

Cerci is a quality player, very technically good! Although Torino are selling him while he is at peak career value! Don’t get me wrong, I would love to see him play for us, I just feel as though we can spend that amount of money who will be worth €30m plus in a few years if we make the right investment! I am also very disappointed that we’re not showing any interest in Nastasic or Rabiot. They are both available and are perfect investments for our squad. I am sick of us paying minuscule transfer fees on old players and… Read more »

I would rather get Douglas Costa or Andre Ayew. Or even only get Taarabt and some good young defender like Doria.

Greg

If we are paying 13m I bet Balotelli is being sold.

Valentino

He is, to Liverpool 17m pounds

eternal paolo

If our management ever consider the midfield as part of the team then we wouldn’t be having the trouble we have in it now,but for berlusconi’s fetish for strikers,we’ve had many chances to sign gud midfielders but opted against it(even in this window) imagine rabiot going for 5m pounds, but milan chooses to spend big on RW,an area that is not a problem currently(considering we have only the league this season).I have no hope for this team under inzaghi, jst hoping the perform well enuf dou

nick

We also need to sign Isco, M’bia(free transfer) as he is no longer with Sevilla, Jackson Martinez & Taraabat. Cerci alone is not enough.

eternal paolo

Some people are yet to adjust to the reality that milan no longer have they spending power it used to have(berlusconi won’t invest like b4).unless we are able to awaken italy from its economic grave/make our club economical viable(stadium nd other deals) we can only dream of signings like jackson martinez and others like isco nd co

Smac

In my opinion the signing of Douglas Costa would be better in such case that we might end up spending a bit more but his retail value might increase whilst the market value on Cerci is likely to drop even if he performs well due his age and the fact that if we sign him he will at least play for two seasons at the San Siro and he’s age will be 29 and he is on the downhill of his career meanwhile Douglas Costa will be 25 with a higher market value and a lot more years left in… Read more »

Benega went to Sevilla for only 2.5 recently. Mbia is a free transfer, Taarabt can be ours for 3.5m. Imagine we could use only 6m and still get get 3 quality players that would most def improve our team. People are praising Galliani for haveing a low bugdet and still get players?. Well look at the players he gets, nobody wants them!

Nick

@sansiro…I totally agree. If Galliani was really good we would get quality players on a low budget and not rejects.

Years ago before the calciopoli scandal Berlusconi was planning on partying ways with Galliani and replace him with Luciano Moggi.

Luciano Moggi knows how to build a competitive team, Galliani clearly doesn’t.

He just buys whatever rejects that are available. That’s not a transfer strategy.

Benjamin

am expecting douglas costa, cerci, taarabt nd dzemaili or fenando get essien nd zaccardo out

Lumen.

When Cerci will be 29 or 30,Mastour would be 18 or 19,but if you get D.Costa i fear that the competition between D.Costa and Mastour will force Milan to sell Mastour,IMO.
I think within the last days we can get a midfielder either Grenier,Fernando or Dzemaili and possible a CB on loan if Mexes or Zaccardo eventually leaves.
Fingers Crossed.

chris

except you all can prove to me that cerci is some cassano type of right winger with left foot then I think this is a bad idea. I’d rather we stay as we are and get taarabt. I bet you after this season cerci would be worth half this price regardless of where he goes and by the the next he’ll be twice as less again. Costa pls! daz all

Chona

Last month milan offer 25 mil for iturbe and he join with roma so how come if cerci is number 1 target and milan just give 13 mil???

6t9

I was, am & will b against the Cerci idea, it will b another Matri case. We dont have money & still we are taking decissions to increase our burden. Milan should not invest on any player over 24 years of age untill he is not a true champion who succeded in different clubs playing in highest level in europe.
