Seedorf on Galliani, Balotelli, tactics and more…

CLARENCE SEEDORF has discussed his relationship with Adriano Galliani and defended Balotelli in an interview today.

The Italian media is all about Seedorf getting the sack at the end of the season (there are even reports today that he could be set free even before the Inter game next Sunday) and despite doing relatively well, Clarence’s future looks far from Milan.

Many believe that the club doesn’t support Seedorf, especially Vice President Galliani, and even people that were in favour of his appointment have changed their mind. Sky’s Gianluca Di Marzio described Clarence as a ‘lonely man’ right now.

Balotelli’s frustrations justified
Game recap: Roma 2-0 Milan

“My relationship with Galliani? We have a relationship for 10 years now and it goes behind football as we were often in Brazil together with our families. I don’t want to take Galliani’s job – I want to be the Milan coach, not the President or the General Manager,” Seedorf told Sky Sport Italia’s Giorgio Porrà on Sunday, in an interview that was not planned by the club.

“I have great respect for Galliani and he has given me a lot of confidence. The closeness of the club is crucial. I’ve asked him to be close to us. Galliani as my tutor? I’ve had many coaches in my career, some of the best in the last 25 years of football but the advice of Adriano is always welcome and it’s important because he was close to all the coaches at Milan. Galliani came [to visit us] when there was a need to come, when I asked him. At other times, due to his many commitments he couldn’t come but the closeness has always been there.” It’s reported Galliani wants to sack Seedorf & appoint Inzaghi.

“Mario Balotelli? The growth of Mario is clearly seen. He asked me why he was substituted against Roma, the same way Keisuke Honda did against Lazio,” continued the 38-year-old former midfielder. “We have an excellent rapport between adults. We clarified the situation in the dressing room later. Many players fail to give their best. I don’t think he left the field in a bad way. As for insulting his teammates after a misplaced pass, I’ve seen that gesture a thousand times in my career.

“Journalists have not helped Balotelli’s growth process. I talk to him and give constructive criticism, but I do it in private, not via the media. At times it’s better to leave him alone. I feel his positive changes are not highlighted. It’s not fair just to highlight the negative moments. His scoring statistics are strong, as this is the most prolific season of his career.

“Balotelli has scored a lot of goals this season and in recent games he had three trequartisti and a supporting midfielder around him. A little like Boban and Savićević in the past. We play with a 4-1-4-1 formation now. But I said from the start that the tactical system isn’t as important as the philosophy and the results. Balotelli is doing well and I appreciate him a lot.

“Balo is a guy that tries to always give everything. I am not closed to the idea of Giampaolo Pazzini and Balotelli together, but right now we have found our balance. I appreciate Pazzini a lot, as he’s determined and can make the difference in the final 30 minutes. As a coach I of course try to exploit the squad intelligently. In the future I might think about doing other things but before doing so I try to give balance to the team,” continued the Dutchman who had replaced Allegri in January.

Seedorf’s mission is to lead Milan to a Europa League spot but the last matchday was not a favourable one for Milan as they lost to Roma and their rivals for 6th place almost all won so the Rossoneri are now in 10th, three games to go.

Balotelli has 0% respect for his teammates.trainer.older players who give him advice and critics. he should be sold that guy is an insult to milan let him go to chelsea to mourinho their caracter is the same: no respect big mouth and egocentric. Or sell him to Monaco and bring Lavezzi or Pato. balo has scored a lot but we need serious players and balotelli isnt that type of guy.he wont be a legend at milan he will leave the club in max 2 years because everyone will know hes not the type of player you want in your team.… Read more »

No, no, no. Claiming that Balo has 0% of respect drastic thing to be said. Saying that he is unpredictable and can say or do things he can instantly or later regret is more accurate. Throw trash at me fellow Milan supporters and Balo admirers, but as much I love to see his rare shows of brilliance I don’t think he’s suitable for Milan. Although he really seems to be much more matured, but some of his inequalities are still there. Two things I really don’t like in football: diving and lack of driving force to keep fighting. Balo kind… Read more »

Please for the sake of ac milan, go support Real Madrid or bayern or Barcelona. We here at milan don’t really like fans of your nature. You are banned. If you want this guy banned like this comment

That’s a bit harsh, I don’t agree with his comments, but as long as he isn’t insulting anyone on this blog he is entitled to his opinion.

Great coach, Seedorf will be a good coach if he had the right players and club supporting him. By his interviews, you can see how intelligent he is and he has a clear idea of what he is wants to do with milan. We haven’t had a coach like this in a while since ancelotti. Hopefully Milan keeps him.

In as much as we think Seedorf has prospects, he has to realise that this current squad can’t match up with the 4231 formation. But that’s my problem wit Seedorf, he would never back down, all because of his pride, and he wants to prove a point. Also, milan’s midfield is so porous. The only reasonable midfielder we have is De jong. Muntari, Essien are too poor! And as for Montolivo, he is just so average! No creativity, he is slow to think and react. But he can still be managed sometimes.. For now, I think Poli should be in… Read more »

For Balotelli to be angry is not his fault.the point is that when he want a team to be forward especially in picth then others fail him.if you watch wel will see that, balotelli always give an want to give more of his best but no one to feed him.if milan has players like him who determine to play and win i don’t no the team that will be compare to milan.for roma 2 0 milan that game milan was dead exception of balotelli, taarabt, rami and mexes the rest was dead.to me,milan should allow players like ses, balotelli, poli, saponara,de yon, taarabt, rami,de sciglo, motolivo, kaka, cristante with seedorf to… Read more »

Seedorf has to be given the support and the time by Milan. I don’t think Inzaghi can make it with or without the support of galliani. Seedorf should be given more time, the club is not saying anything, all he hears is that he wont even be allowed to see the inter game, and that berlusconi is furious with him, no one from the club has shown any form of support. The italian media is only waiting for milan to loose so that it can cause more instability in our team, when we dont loose they say we were lucky.… Read more »

Everybody is sayin balo this balo that and he wasn’t the worst performer durin D match
Sale balo and get ?
He is just 23 who is strong and dngrousin front of goal. No just sell him and get Arsenal’s yaya sanogo

This 2013/2014 season is already over for milan before seedorf came. Lets see seedorf manages Milan since the beginning of the season then we can have better perspective to judge his works.
We have to remember that this is his first ever experience in coaching. all he needs is time.

He mantains Balo well enough cause he knows exactly how to mantain a player like he was mantained by his coach.#forzaMilan

Seedorf is a smart guy, but unfortunately he will be forced out the same way as Leonardo. You might call Leo a traitor, but without him we wouldn’t have Kaka, Pato or Thiago Silva at Milan. Leonardo was (and still is) too smart for that baldy prick Galliani, and so are Seedorf, Maldini and Boban, and that is the reason why they are not in our club.

I really really want Galliani out of Milan, but I don’t think that we will see that for the next couple of years.

Sherbini

Leonardo left because of berlusconi not gallianni.

Perin. Sciglio-rami-mexes-santon/cole. Montolivo-poli. El shaarawy-crisante-jovetic. Balotelli. Can bring immediate results to milan and fits our finances. If milan sell balo45 it means matri is the main striker. Milan won’t buy any benzema or cavani.balo is best we have. What happend with micah richards rumour? For one big signing try to lure pastore or verrati then(though difficlt without ucl) we will be complete. Swap abate fo a big DMF… Gustavo etc

mario should be asked to stop insulting his teammates and players must not question the coachs decision after a substitution.

Sherbini

Cristante should stay !

Former World Cup winner Ciccio Graziani has taken aim at AC Milan striker Mario Balotelli. Balotelli is being attacked by Italy’s football establishment after lashing out at Sky Italia pundits on Friday. Graziani snapped: “Balotelli was lucky, as Giancarlo Marocchi is too nice. If it had been me he’d said that to, Balo would’ve found a much stronger response. You can’t say Marocchi doesn’t understand football. “If I’d had a teammate like Balotelli, seeing play as badly as he did against Roma, I’d have given him a kick up the backside and then a cold shower. “This way Balotelli tries… Read more »

Milan is in serious need of a cash injection, without money the club will fail. Barca, juve, real, man united and recently liverpool did it. What we see happening at at-madrid won’t last unless they invest on the squad too, so all seerdof can do is manage a sinking ship. Unless more and better players are bought next season’s europa league campaign would not assist the team ucl qualifications next season.

dejan10

I feel sorry for Seedorf having to put up with this collective dementia going on at Milan HQ.

Greg

By the way Balotelli sucked against Roma but he’s generally done well this season. Lack of planning and investment is our problem, not Balotelli. I love Kaka but he was barely any better on Friday.

olly

obviously balo has a few problems with attitude but it is clear to see that he’s been improving with that, and personally i like players with character and i think every team needs a charismatic player like he is. saying that we have to sell him is ridiculous cause fact is that he is by far our top scorer and has been our best player with de jong and rami in my opinion. seedorf needs to be given more time since he took over at a difficult time where team spirit was broken and almost everyone was playing poorly and… Read more »

Just like Leonardo, Seedorf may get the booth at the end of the season for not being a yes-man. I sincerely want him to stay, but he too have to understand that the 4-2-3-1 have failed against quality opposition. This clearly shows that either the players have not mastered the tactics or there is a frail mentality out there at Casa Milan; either way there is a lot of work to be done.

Galliani has been Milan biggest problem over the last decade, not Allegri nor Berlusconi. He has so much power and he is abusing it.

Danrondo

@cyborg well said and it seems you pick some words out of my mind. Am just sick of Galliani and everyone at the hem at Milan HQ. I can’t believe we will keep slipping down like this. It won’t get better atall until the wizard n demon in Galliani is cast out.

vic

In my opinion, seedorf as milan coach won’t last long if galliani still d gm. Galliani will crush anyone who dare to oppose him. For example, look how he treat Maldini, and now seedorf. He only care for him self, not this club anymore. I respect for all he did in d past but right now, I don’t respect him for how he treats people who cares about this club.

dave nigeria

how many big matches has seedorf won?

RKaY

Well here’s my opinion on the seedorf sacking rumors if you want to hear it: why in the world would the club hire someone with ZERO experience and expect them to win every match. They set him up to fail, it seems like a sick joke played on one of our legends. If they expected seedorf to be a miracle worker they are naive, and what seedorf has achieved in his short stint as coach is much more than what allegri achieved the first half of this season. So my question is, what were they expecting from a rookie coach?… Read more »

At first i did not favour the appointment of Seedorf. Now i dont favour the way they r treating him. It s a pity

Lumen.

Corriere reports that Seedorf COULD go back to Allegri’s 4-3-1-2 against Inter on Sunday, with Kaka behind Mario and Giampaolo,Poli,Montolivo and one of Nigel or Muntari in the midfield trio,Abate at RB.(Abate’s performances in the Milan derbies has cost Milan a lot). Now for those who were complaining about De Sciglio and Abate’s absent in the lineup against Roma,i will give you the answer.Seedorf’s pre-match press conference last week thursday before the match on friday,he said De Sciglio isn’t fit,and he previously stated that he selects the lineups according to fitness levels of the players,on Abate,it is obvious his overlapping will… Read more »

We should all make a statement.

Ideal situation would be to bring Maldini to replace bold head. Keep Seedorf as coach and see what he can do. He took over from allergies and did daily good job – that team was a disaster. We must keep all the youngster but if Kojak stays, as soon as he sees the cash they will be gone. Bunga Bunga should be in jail for nasty things he did to underaged girls, not leading Milan and not wanting to invest. Sick and tired of it, we are all waiting and hoping to see change at Milan in the summer but… Read more »

You guys have to keep in mind that we cannot just change formations will nilly. We’ve all been waiting for SES return and we all have been waiting to see him play in the 4231 right? So i say we keep it for now. Now thers nothing wrong with balo, its just the way he plays. He’s just not the type of striker to run at defenders and speed past them or make runs, which is the kind we need right now. I know we have pazzini but he is more of a poacher and cannot be by himself either.… Read more »

bold head its been a whole season now take the check book from between the rear end and spend money and promote players if yall want success although i would prefer maldini take ur spot XD

hbsl

Let them sack seedorf if that is what they want. It will be totally wrong for anyone to expect seedorf to achieve anything with the current squad and the level of investment by the management. He needs at least 3 years to get things right. We don’t even need europa because it will distract us from out main target of rebuilding. Players like essien, honda, zaccado, robinho, niang, nocerino and montolivo should be allowed to leave. If Baloteli wants to go,then get chikarito and continue from there. It is clear that we need change and seedorf is the man that can do it.

Tribalfootball writes:

Galatasaray are in contact with AC Milan for striker Mario Balotelli.

Balotelli is again underfire after last week’s interview meltdown on TV.

Sportmediaset says Gala have made an approach about ferrying Balotelli to Istanbul this summer.

The Turkish giants see Balotelli as a replacement for Chelsea icon Didier Drogba, who is leaving with his contract due to expire in June.

Arsenal and AS Monaco are also monitoring Balotelli’s situation.

At least some good news

lloyd

It seems the media wants seerdof out more than milan management, these speculations are adding more fuel to the fire and it seems its working. I believe racism is at the core of this matter and that’s unfortunate because even though milan is an italian club it is also an international institution which inspires many young boys. For me personally, whenever I remember the noughties – 2003, that night in istanbul when the footballing gods got high on whatever, the semis against barca the following year, inzaghi paying revenge or fabrigas seeking us with a wonder strike that signaled the… Read more »
