GIAMPAOLO PAZZINI and Mario Balotelli are happy to have scored in Milan’s impressive 3-0 win over Livorno.
Milan’s impressive run of results continued today (Saturday) as they managed to beat Livorno comfortably at Stadio San Siro and extend their winning streak to five and they are now tied with Parma on sixth spot – a Europa League spot.
Mario Balotelli scored first in the 43′ minute, taking advantage of a Kevin Constant cross and Super Mario was the one to assist Milan’s next two goals – to Adel Taarabt in the 51′ minute and to Giampaolo Pazzini in the 83′ minute of the game.
“I enjoyed the game. At 3-0 up I wanted to do some beautiful things, but with no disrespect to anyone,” Balo, who scored his 14th goal of the season (personal best), told Sky. “Coach Seedorf is giving us a big hand and there was a desire to recover; the latest positive results are important. We play to win and get to the Europa League. We must fight until the end.”
“I’m happy to have achieved a personal record but I always try to do more because some players score 40 in a season. I scored a header in all the teams I’ve played in and also for Italy, I only missed the header at Milan,” Balotelli, who will play with La Nazionale in Brazil this summer, said in the post-match interview with Mediaset. “The dressing room is united and the coach gives a hand to the team. It will be a difficult game against Roma. There will be time to think about the derby. My private life? I keep my joys and sorrows to myself. It’s not something I want to externalize to the public. I’m happy, certainly.”
Pazzini scored his first goal since January 26 today (his 2nd of the season) and the Italian striker is delighted with it even though it had little effect on the result this time: “I feel the support from all my team-mates, the club and the fans and for that reason I often feel responsible when I’m not able to score. I missed a goal scoring chance but then Mario set me up with a great ball. It didn’t change much in terms of the outcome of the match, but it was important for morale. I’m really happy.
“The game was over, but it was a big goal for my confidence. We’re doing well, 5 victories help you win more. After the derby match, we’ll see where we are and we’ll see what we can do. After the match with Cagliari, I was thinking about the World Cup, but now the choice of strikers has been made. I hope to still achieve a lot between now and the end of the season.
“My knee caused me a lot of problems last year, I would have preferred to have scored a few more goals. I’m really happy here, I feel the affection of the fans and I hope to finish the season well. We got back on track after the Parma match also thanks to the fans, that have always been close to us. Now we have Roma on the way which is a tough one. A team like Milan has to think about getting points. Europa League may not be the UCL, but I’d be happy to play in the competition.
“We’re happy to see El Shaarawy again. He’s desperate to get going again, but when you’re out of action for a long time it takes time to get back to your best. Thanks once again for today and the support that our fans have always shown me. A message to our supporters? Have a great Easter and a nice day with your families. We’ll see you all in Rome!” he added.
Many are asking why Pazzo and Balo don’t play together from the start as they seem to be working well and Seedorf responded to that in the pre-match presser, answering that he wouldn’t have a striker on the bench if he started both.
