Seedorf: “I saw a team on the rise, we can’t make miracles”

CLARENCE SEEDORF left the San Siro with a point last night but was fairly satisfied with what he saw from his men.

Milan had a chance to get a third straight Serie A victory for the first time in 9 months but they only managed a draw against Torino last night. Ciro Immobile scored first, beating Bonera and Abbiati, and then Adil Rami found the net in the 49′ minute.

The Rossoneri were poor defensively and the link-up play in the attack was not good enough. Seedorf said after the match that he’s relatively happy with the performance of his players and asks everyone to have patience with Keisuke Honda.

Highlights: Milan 1-1 Torino
Thoughts from Milan 1-1 Torino

“I saw a team on the rise and they gave a lot. They looked to score in the first and second halves,” coach Clarence Seedorf stated in the post-match press conference. “Torino are a good team with a solid game plan and I’m happy with the players. The team did well to stay calm and stay in the game. My satisfaction comes from knowing we tried to get all three points.

“We haven’t climbed up the table and Italian football is tough for all teams. We have to take things game by game. The road is long from here to the end of the season. The team reacted well but we need time to grow. I’m happy with the work that we’re doing. The transfer window is closed and the players we have are the ones we’ll have until the end of the season. I chose this system of play looking at the team but time is needed for the ideas to be absorbed. We have to be patient with Honda as he’s come all the way from Russia with a different culture and different game but he played well on Saturday.

“The players haven’t been playing together for that long and with time the understanding on the pitch will improve. I’m repeating myself, but we can’t make miracles happen. The players are responding well and we have to move forward with that. The team will be built over time and we have to end this season in a way that’s worthy of the club. We’ve had some good signals. Adil Rami? He did well against Cagliari and again tonight. He has energy, courage and personality.

“All the players did well to keep pushing until the end. Muntari is back from injury and I didn’t want to tire him out. I brought on Saponara for Robinho as he’d spent a lot of energy and when I see a drop in energy, then it’s better to make a change. I didn’t want to risk Adel Taarabt as he’s just arrived. Now we have a week for him to get to know the team and to settle in.”

Milan’s next game is at the San Paolo against Napoli and it’s clear that il Diavolo will have to step up their game in order to get points against the team that is currently sitting in third place with 44 points (they are playing Atalanta in these minutes).

millano

I did watch the match so dont get me wrong, i will like see three midflders only monto always then esse and de jong and somethings start with bryn and no robi, he should be a back up, For the transfer, Milan is a big club not a second class so we should be looking for cb like BVB hummels or even varane DM like gundergun or yaya toure atticking m like rius or ozil or nasri but thats is 90%impossible unless there contract expires we need a gk,abbaiti is old. Hope he ends his carri at the of the… Read more »

Napoli has been slipping up recently, if only we had won and beat them next week that thirdand ffinal champions League spot would look nice

Juninho

Beautiful words, but poor football.

Agazzi is the new milan Keeper.

This match was Seedorf’s best yet. Clearly the team is improving. It was impossible to imagine attacking with numbers in Allegri’s rein, but now it’s happening and you could see some nice moves here and there. Obviously they need much more time and better suited players like El Shaarawy but it looks like we are on the right track. I was really surprised though, as I thought Seedorf would play De Sciglio at left back to keep an eye on Cerci and minimize Torino’s counter attacks from that side of the pitch. I don’t know why he didn’t, maybe Abate… Read more »

A great improvement can be witnessed.. great play by all except for crappy Bonera.
Throw him out and let Mexes and Rami hold our lines.. also waiting for El Shaarawy to replace Robinho who is far behind his form.. cant even dribble anymore..

Pazzini a good striker with great work rate.
And Honda hasnt performed yet.. keeps missing.

I wish Napoli keeps on losing and rest can be taken care of :P

Milan fan

We don’t need miracles,we need LB and CB.

Luke

I think Milan would play much better without Bonerror, he always manages to some who make a huge mistake that should never happen at this level. I think we would actually be better off playing with 10 men – he is just BAD – plain and simple.

billyf5

we must buy Rami!!! 7m are low for so good defender and our only good…

TrollBonerror

He is a good centre back compared to our other centre backs. Well just about anyone who are compared to our defenders look good. In other words, Rami has just started to play for Milan, lets not put our hopes up too much and then he might flop. But yes, I think Milan should buy him, but he isn’t Milan quality. Maldini, t.Silva, Nesta sorts of players are Milan quality, and Rami compared to them looks like a armature, Milan need to get better *WORLD CLASS* defenders and Rami is good enough as a back up, but now he has… Read more »

Can someone pls tell me if the Milan technical staff always read the fans post on here. Seedorf should please stop using Bonera, he’s embarrassing all the Milan family and fans. I understand he’s trying you use him as a leader to keep the dressing room but bonera is just too bad, since the days of the senators he has been making killer mistake and yet till now, I never forget the error he did in bernabue against Madrid, same thing against udinese when Di Nayeli raped him. SEEDORF PLEASE JUST BENCH BONERO USE ANY PLAYER IN THE ROLE DE… Read more »
