FRANCO BARESI believes Milan have the potential to do better and doesn’t think Milan were poor against Barca.
Milan’s last win, in all competitions, dates back to October 19, but on Sunday they will have to win against 20th placed Chievo Verona away in order to stay in the fight for a place in next year’s Europa League (or, for the optimistic’s, UCL).
The Rossoneri have yet to win a game away from home this term but Franco Baresi believes that Massimiliano Allegri’s boys have what it takes to get out of this current crisis and tells Milan not to underestimate the strength of Chievo.
Galliani: “No Allegri ultimatum, Chievo not crucial”

“Balotelli did well against Barcelona. It’s not easy to play against them. They take your breath away because you spend so much energy trying to recover the ball,” former Milan captain and the legendary #6 of the red and black club, Baresi, told the Milan Channel on Friday. “Milan didn’t do poorly in the second half, but in order to win at Camp Nou you need to do better.
“The mistakes by the referee? Barca definitely don’t need help from the referees, but I think that it’s wrong to focus on these things. This Milan side can and must do better. The difficult start to the season was also because of the injuries to their best players. Allegri hasn’t had all the players at his disposal this season, and that has affected his choices, also with regard to the tactical set-up. Milan can get out of this crisis. They have to remain united and think about all the good things they did in the final part of last season where they finished third. The players are more or less the same with an added value like Kaka.
“They have to remain calm, compact, united and start climbing up the table. The entire squad has to improve and be more attentive in certain situations. It’s important the team finds a compactness in order to avoid conceding goals and they also have to stay focused for all 90 minutes. Mexes is important for Milan and you could feel his absence in the recent matches.
“Mexes is a player with great qualities, personality and also good technical qualities. He’s being criticized a lot, and perhaps he isn’t aware of his strength, but if he manages to improve his concentration then he will become a great player. [Mexes’ partner at the back] Zapata also has good qualities. He’s physically strong and he has a good technique. They need more help on the pitch, and that would also allow the individual players to feel more confident. Teamwork is fundamental.
“Milan’s tactical set-up? It’s always difficult for an outsider to evaluate it. The coach sees his players every day and is in a better position to evaluate them. In any case, I don’t think that it’s the set-up that’s important. It’s the attitude and the desire to play. The Chievo game? It might look like an easy game on paper, but you must always respect the opponents, and you have to play a great game in order to win,” continued Baresi, who played over 700 games for Milan in his footballing career.
“Nesta’s retirement? He’s a great player who’s retiring. He did great things at Milan and he was an example. He’ll always remain in the Milan fans’ hearts. Milan’s new HQ? I’ve seen it. It’s great that they will give fans the possibility of visiting it.”

That’s rite – tell them Baresi!! Why don’t you come back as a coach and train future defenders to be like you!!!
i do not know why milan love medicores…can anyone ans for whom matri came?
can n e one ans ds?
?
?
aneyone?
well then i must tell you…the ans is traore…
The likes of Bryan Cristante, Marco Fossati, Rodriguo Ely, Lotti, Petagna and Pacifico should be included in the squad. Instead of the “contract expired” players with no spirit, ( muntari, mexes, de Jong, Zapata, constan, emmanuelson etc…) , include these youth players that grown in milanello and have the milan quality and spirit. To apply this I admit that Galliani should leave and the likes of Maldini should take the responsibility. But also 2 or 3 quality players should be bought.
I Rarely reply, But De Jong….No spirit ??
Really bro, Really ?
u including de jong toooo ??????????
just imagine current season without the dutch mate…
n u’ll get d answer !
Absolutely not agree about DE JONG.
I wished all of them were like him.
No spirit, come on yoh!!!
Baresi schould be in the club as well he s got iron charisma
@sherbani: I assume you never watched Milan game, De Jong with no spirit??? What the hell you are talking about???
Even muntari shows a better spirit and comimitment than balotelli

With Allegri or not we can bounce back provided we are injury and suspension free, but quality reinforcement in January,1 LB,2 CB,2 AMDF,1 GKP and offload Constant,Emanuelson,Zaccardo,Bonera,Nocerino,Robinho,Birsa,Matri,Niang(2 season loan).please get me Andriy Yarmolenko and Thauvin or Cerci or Griezmann,or 4 of Astori,Garay,Varmelen,Dante,Bonucci,Felipe Luiz,Antonelli,Gundogan,Schmelzer.
De Jong should of not been mention in your pity list, you should be more prudential. De Jong Is one of Milan’s best. I think him and Kaka’ are the ones with the most spirit and desire to win in this team.
i admit that de jong has the spirit, but he is excellent in recovering the ball. But in some matches we don’t need this type of players, we need to play football. I included him in my list because of the concept of expired contract players. Even mexes and muntari have spirit but as milan fan i prefer better football players.
Milan only need a new coach.
Galliani has been confirmed. Get ready for Burdisso, Parolo, Kucka and more!!!
hope they click and dont come out like matri….although we knew what he could do…but still he was brought.
