Amelia: “Milan didn’t play catenaccio”, Urby: “Kaka is great”

MARCO AMELIA wants to be at the top by Christmas while Urby Emanuelson is hoping for a goal against Parma.

Milan haven’t won two consecutive matches since September 1st and after beating Udinese on Saturday, they hosted Barcelona on Tuesday evening but couldn’t take more than one point from this match after goals from Robinho and Messi.

Barcelona had a few good chances to score more goals but Marco Amelia played a good match (his first this season) and managed to stop the Catalans. If Milan made the most of their own chances, they would’ve probably won the game.

Kaka: “I thank the fans”, Muntari: “Milan will fight until the end”
Highlights: Milan 1-1 Barcelona

“It’s a good point for us and a big push for our morale. With Barcelona you have to try and limit them, there’s no other way. We played a good game and we had our chances too,” Amelia said last night. “We didn’t play catenaccio and always tried to play on the break. We had to suffer in certain stages of the game as they chased us back a lot but we played well.

“They usually have 10 chances per match but it wasn’t like that. If Sulley Muntari and Robinho did better with their chances we’d be talking about other things. We’re on the up now after a tough start. We know we have to do better but you can’t go from 0 to 10 without steps in between. Valter Birsa and Ricardo Kaka sacrificed a lot for the team. They played both halves of the pitch. Tactically we did well and we slipped up for their goal, it wasn’t credit to them. Apart from that things went well.

“Kaka gives us a lot on a psychological level but that’s not all. He’s from another planet when it comes to technique. Like Robinho, Balotelli and El Shaarawy. Now we’re getting players back from injury and against Parma we have to get back up the table. We want to be in the top spots for Christmas.” Amelia also spoke to uefa.com after the match: “I think Kaka’s performance was the most important thing for us. It’s good for the whole environment here, it’s good for the rest of the squad, for the fans and it’s good for him. He seems very motivated and serene, and his usual pace on the pitch is back.

“He is still is a great champion. I don’t think there is much difference between the player he was here at Milan before leaving and the player he is now. He just needs more stamina to be able to play like that for the whole 90 minutes. We are very satisfied with the point even if we went close to taking all three in the end. We played well, giving them away almost nothing.

“Maybe we caused them trouble by playing without an outright striker, but I think the whole team did well, fighting hard and not defending too deep. Their goal came from a mistake of us in losing possession. I think we are growing as a team and this point is good for morale. We will go to the Camp Nou to make another step towards qualification.” It is still not clear whether first choice Christian Abbiati will be fit for Parma so Amelia and Gabriel will play for a place in the starting eleven.

“We played very well in the first half. Robinho and Kaka both created a lot of chances and a draw is the right result. Kaka is coming back from injury at the moment, as are Birsa and Mario. These returns are very important ahead of Sunday’s match against Parma,” Urby Emanuelson told Milan Channel after the training session. “Kaka is a great player, he’s won it all.

“He’s very important for the team and even in training he always gives 100%. He leaves an impression on you. In the second half against Barcelona he played well and it’s a good point we got. Now we move forward. Thinking about Parma I remember the goal I got there. It was a good moment. Parma are a lucky team for me and I’ll try and score again on Sunday.” Emanuelson got the rating of 6 out of 10 from La Gazzetta dello Sport for the performance against Barcelona.

Milan’s next games are against Parma, Lazio and Fiorentina before they take on Barcelona again at the Camp Nou as part of the 4th matchday. Milan are currently sitting in 2nd in Group H, two points behind Barcelona who have 7 points.

The first 45 min was perfect but the second half was horrible ! We could win that match if we had the same attitude as in the first half. But anywas good step for us ..we going up now ! Forza Milan !

good game, nice fight keep it up guys

The problem with Allegri is his small team mentality as is mentioned a lot. Really, a great coach would want his player to score and not play for a draw, but I see as if Allegri wants a draw against all the big teams.

humans!!even after a good match, they ll always complain.indeed human needs are unsatiafiable

You call that a good match? you had opportunities to hurt a vulnerable Barca side and you didnt take it!!! Yet you call that a good match.

Wow never saw this coming that even Milan fans will settle for anything on the field of play.

Allegri is really hurting our philosophy.

Allegri doesnt know he is coaching Milan yet. He still thinks he is at a midtable team after 4 seasons

Even if Allegri beats Barcelona 10-0, some here will still curse him. I’m beginning to see that the hate is nothing to do with his performance, they just hate him.

He’s not been living up to expectation and i don’t want him either BUT hating is another thing, consider yourself worse than Allegri when you blatantly refuse to give him some credit when due, in fact YOU ARE WORST.
