Report: Prandelli the top candidate if Allegri leaves

63

MASSIMILIANO ALLEGRI could have some kind of an exchange with Prandelli with the latter taking over at Milan.

Allegri still has about 10 months in his Milan contract until it expires but his future is once again being discussed in the Italian press as he is one of the top candidates to replace Cesare Prandelli as the Italy coach after the 2014 World Cup.

And it appears that Prandelli could replace Allegri as the coach of Milan. Prandelli led Fiorentina for five years before taking the job as the Azzurri boss and has so far been successful but he’s expected by all to step down next summer.

B. Berlusconi: “Kaka is a champion, our goal is to win the title”
Why Kaka’s purchase shows Milan has no plan whatsoever

Milan will reportedly offer Allegri a contract renewal if he meets the objective and finishes in one of the top 3 Serie A spots in the 2013/2014 season but should he be approached with the Italy job he’ll most likely reject the Rossoneri’s offer. And if Max leave the club after four years in charge, Milan will be looking for alternatives and they have their names already.

Kaka and Pippo Inzaghi, who is also a candidate to replace Allegri next season. (Milan’s official Twitter account)

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Prandelli is at the top on Milan’s wishlist in case of an Allegri exit. Prandelli knows many of the players with whom he worked in Fiorentina and the Italian national team; he’s an experienced coach and is held at high regard at via Turati. Right behind Prandelli there are two names for the job which were also mentioned earlier this year when Allegri’s future was at risk: current Primavera coach Filippo Inzaghi and Botafogo man Clarence Seedorf.

Meanwhile Prandelli is set to coach the Italian team tonight in the game against Bulgaria. Mario Balotelli and Riccardo Montolivo are suspended and can’t play; Ignazio Abate is expected to start while Stephan El Shaarawy will be on the bench.

2014 will again be a year of changes for Milan, as not only Allegri, but also many of the players with expiring contracts will be leaving Milanello. The time of transition at Milan may come to an end after a coach is signed for 4 years and the squad starts experiencing minor changes of 1 to 3 players in a market. The squad settles down, the coach knows what he has and is sure it’ll stay for a long period, and Milan is back to the years of glory.

Sounds good! What players are you talking about who’s contracts are expiring.

Is that picture our new attacking midfielder hugging our future coach? Who else hopes so?

1five1

Prandelli’s okay, way better option than Inzaghi, Seedorf.
Wouldnt want him to arrive though, unless the team becomes more stable, which would mean no rapid changing of the team, because if he had the team allegri had last season, he’ll so fail horribly.

Manolinho

are you joking?

Prandelli is one of the best coaches around… If Allegri leaves, Prandelli would be very high up on my wish list..

baron kings

Allegri out Berlusconi sell the club or buy quality players period

milanisti since 99

the best news i heard so far.
at last Prandelli better than allegri and far experienced
inzaghi well may be he should be in the bench next to Prandelli and Tassotti then later he could be the coach.
other than that they should look for diego simone or Jürgen Klopp.
4 years is more than enough for allegri its TIME FOR A CHANGE

partigiano_milan

apart from carletto i think prandelli currently is the best italian coach with international experience… also he has charisma and can handle young players, especially balo… hope him to become allegris heir… Forza Milan!

I’m sure we’ll be much more successful with Prandelli !!!

I would welcome Prandelli. I think he has the national team playing attractive soccer.

D-Bo

I would also like to add that I’d like Klopp more.

those of u dat want allegri out will hv to pray hard dat milan fall dis season cos dats d only way his gonna go. Knwing allegri he alwayz get d results wich is wat matters. Am 100 percent behind him

gaushow

what result????

Third place is a result???? UCL shame is a result??

Milan fan

It makes me sad to see how fans think this trophy-less Milan side is Allegri’s fault. Guys with defense like ours with no real CB’s you can’t expect much.

zac

why didn’t allegri come forward and ask for a defender? he asked for matri and we got him, im still very upset about this

Cyborg

NOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!! WE ARE TIRED OF THESE COACHES WHO ARE NOT GOING TO RESPECT THE CULTURE OF THE CLUB!!! Prandelli is just another Italian who is going to turn into another Allegri!! He is going to turn us into Fiorentina just like Allegri has turned us into Cagliary! Prandelli is the same guy who benched Stephan for candreva at the confed cup jut because he lacks “character “. If we are so desperate for “experience ” Frank rijkaard is the best option! The guy who made messi! The guy who made Xavi and Iniesta SHOULD BE THE RIGHT GUY! We must… Read more »

at least Prandelli is better than Allegri, but Rijkaard is best option for me too

Jibola

You are so amazing dude. Same Xavi who said he almost thought his career was over under Rijkaard because Rijkaard said he has small physique therefore didn’t give him and Iniesta playing time until Guardiola arrived. The whole world knows its was Guardiola who believed in Messi and took the risk favoring him against 70million Euro Ibra as his main player.
Ironically, Messi, Xavi and Iniesta played their best game under Guardiola so get your facts well

How long ago has Rijkaard left Barca? what has he done since?

Prandelli will be a fantastic option for Milan

sherzod

but Rilkaard turned mediocre Barca to successfull one, when he named barca coach barca wasnt even at CL, but after 3 years they won it,Guardiola is good but trust me Rijkaard was the one who began this era for Barca, and since hr is rossoneri he would do even better at Milan, as i said Rijkaard is best optıon for me
Forza Milan

Muwobert

U r right, where is van basten and other milan obs

Cyborg

Allegri said he doesn’t need any good defender because if EVERY PLAYER “helps in DEFENCE”, the team will concede less so there’s no need to buy a good defender that’s why he bought matri instead.

phillmicester

how milan starting should look after jan

Inzaghi will be our next coach. Mark my words on that!

Cyborg

I respect prandelli, and I think his Italian NT is great too, but MILAN need more. Rijkaard is the complete opposit of Allegri and that’s what this team is thirsty for. A coach who would NEVER under any circumstances pick matri over SES. A guy who would NEVER consider nocerino an attack minded MF. A guy who would never play with ten men behind the ball. People are focusing too much on rijkaard’s failures with lesser teams. You cannot take pep to Saudi Arabia or qatar or India (no offense to the respective countries) and expect him to win the… Read more »

I really like Montella(fiorentina) as a coach an his way of football but Prandelli would be welcome by me

elbo

allegri have to stay milan coach.

berlusconi have to sell squad, now!

1five1

well, he’s a world class coach, but his problem is he does a lot of tactical experimenting(a complete opposite of allegri). This can be a good thing 4 a national side, but very dangerous 4 a club side with week in week out action.
My verdict is we’ll probably do well in d UCL, but not so well in d league(much like ancelloti’s last 4-5 seasons in milan)

Cyborg

RIJKAARD LAID DOWN THE FOUNDATION FOR PEP WHETHER YOU LIKE IT OR NOT! Attacking football, efficient ways of goal scoring, technical ability of the players, those were the foundations already laid down by rijkaard. I respect pep and what he has done and I think that most of barca’s success was down to him, but now that we can’t get his services we need the man with a similar philosophy, rijkaard. The man who made the players, the building blocks of pep’s success, NOT PRANDELLI! Plus, rijkaard is a former player of ours, who won with us, NOT PRANDELLI! Prandelli… Read more »

stay one more year allegri 4z milan.

ROSSONERI4EVA

I would love Prandelli to take over at Milan. The Azzurri are playing beautiful football under Cesare, and I would love to see the Rossoneri playing like that, not Allegri’s ugly style. One thing is for certain though and that is Abate contract MUST be renewed, we can’t lose him!!! I would also recommend giving Abbiati another contract, but not to be first choice. My worry is that Allegri will go to the Nazionale and that would be awful. Why not give Zaccheroni a chance? His Japan play nice football and that will help carry on Prandelli’s philosophy. As always,… Read more »

EXODUS

In the whole os Italy as at this season, i’ll bid for Montella to coach Milan, only if Allegri leave

RKaY

We should get pirlo on a free transfer for 2 years

TWF

Milan will never pass CL semifinal under Allegri’s tactic. Mark my words. In the beginning of Allegri era, I trust him but then I realize that Allegri is typical of a man who is affraid of taking risk. His tactic is so predictable.

Cyborg

Another problem i think should be addressed is galliani, he has too much power and has always misued it. He is the reason we are in this situation, he is the reason we still have a CAGLIARY player for a coach. Galliani needs to share the responsibilities within the team with someone else. If Man city didn’t hire new sporting director they’d be stuck with Mancini in an infinite loop of failure like inter, which is where we are right now. We need a new sporting director who will take over the responsibilities of galliani in that area.

Milanista121

Prandelli keeps on picking Giaccherini for the national team, and he starts most of the time. All coaches have their favourites, and I bet that if Prandelli does indeed join us after this season, I’m sure that people here will still come up with things to complain about, player selection, tactics, formation etc. Allegri is great, he has his flaws, but he is great, even Sir Alex Ferguson said during Allegri’s first season that he likes Allegri and that he should be given time. Heynckes said to Ribery that he had to track back, help the team and defend, because… Read more »

Cyborg

Dude, I’m not against SES occasionally tracking back to win the ball from defence, I’m not against him tracking back to win the ball from MF, infact winning the ball FROM MF! Is what a player in his role should do, that’s what messi does for barca, that’s what Pedro does. THEY DON’T WIN THE BALL FROM DEFENCE NINETY PERCENT OF THE MATCH!!!!! Like SES!! SES is a forward who can defend better than he can score, yet his major role is to score goals. Where on earth have you seen that nonsense? He spends the entire match storming back… Read more »

Milanista121

You actually make some valid points, but during the time that Barcelona were at their very best, they all defended, and played as ONE unit. They pressured their opponents and were on them like bull dogs, which made people think that their defence was solid. But nowadays they are not as good as they were with their pressuring (xavi has gotten old for example), this exposes their defence for the entire world to see how poor it is. That’s why we need to do the same, even though I actually rate our defence higher than theirs. As they only think… Read more »

And again, NO COACH(maybe except the obnoxious, arrogant mou) WILL EVER TELL ANOTHER COACH THEY SUCK AND SHOULD BE FIRED. They always stand for each other. Berlusconi on the other hand will tell you when you suck! And his opinion on Allegri needs no explanation.

lylovel

Prandelli is a good coach, maybe he’s better than Allegri. But if we must replace our coach, maybe someone else can take that place and not prandelli. I see our national team play, and i think his style in not our style,, Maybe we will see El shaarawy go the the market cos prandelli has no trust in him. I believe El Sha can improve to 4-3-1-2 and with ballo we can win the tittle. they both is our future..!!! our weak side now just in the back line, so i hope B&G will consider, who the best for us… Read more »

To allegri lovers: if you set your goals very low anyone can acheeve it. Third place and quaterfinals of ucl is not the real goal. The goal for milan must be win that competitions. This year is third spot our goal, what would it be next year, fift spot? If italy had 5 ucl spots that would be our goal because we need the money from it. Did some of you fans realy hit the bottom. Remember, this is not cagliari, fiorentona or roma, this is grande milan.

Sidi

Come on..
When did Italy play good game under Prandelli?

Redblackdiamonds

Yes!!! Finaly the end of 3 DMF’s !!!

Mo6_Milan

How I wish Matri scores the winner versus Juventus so they can feel it too!

dapito

to kids who feel know everything about management football… talking is really easy than action, its happen in here… like it or not allergi can bring scudetto… thats not easy.. and what all of you did??? only talking and what a shame are you talking about coach with 0% knowledge about managed a football team.. hahahaha

vick

Whatever, at least we can play gud football and get d result. Whoever d coach. Forza milan.

dapito

yup, i’m agree with you… we can only watch and hope some good result… AND MOST IMPORTANT, we alwayas give support for AC MILAN.. trust me, it will give more power for Milan…

dave nigeria

In other news, who will be the new penalty taker; balotelli or kaka:::::::::::

jaxx

all u guys talkin about rijkard dnt even have a clue that d guys is washed out and has lost it…wat has he done after leaving barca?? y are other big clubs ( serious title contenders) not after him??? the guy is an average coach nw plss let’s tink big 4 our club….forza milano

Pezbru

Prandelli would be a far better option than allegri even though he gets results. I don’t agree with allegri’s transfer strategies over the years forcing players out then realising we need replacements when playing players with far less quality for example what he did with pirlo . I also disagree with the purchase of matri especially with all the attackers we have. I’m not saying matri is a bad player but we just don’t need him and we could of spent 12 mil on a quality cb . It’s also sad to say that this is probably the end of… Read more »

That is one of the many reasons why El Shaa won’t leave…
A great team needs quality both on and off the pitch. What is it with you guys and your mentality? We sold players due to financial reasons, we don’t have to do that anymore, Arsenal for example used to sell their players because they could simply not keep hold of them, and they wanted to leave, for various reasons.
Stop it you guys.

Ridwan HapHap

Prandelli ?? what a good choice

FORZA MILAN !!!

Cyborg

I can guarantee you one thing, our youngsters EAPECIALLY SES who is the most promising of them, would benefit more from the arrival rijkaard than prandelli. I agree with the sales of kaka, Ibrahimovic, and ts33, we needed the money and they were no exactly young anymore. I agree with the sale of Sheva, he wanted to join his friend abramovic. I DON’T AGREE with Pirlo’s departure, Pato’s departure, and ronaldinhos departure as they all left because Allegri didn’t like them, and after they left our squad lacked the creativity they brought in which IS BY ALLEGRIS CHOICE! NOT BECAUSE… Read more »

Prandelli is a winner ,he playing nice footbal , he will be very good for our new young AC MILAN .

Jerekre

He has played Giaccherini and Marchisio in support of a lone striker before, not much of an upgrade on Emanuelson and Boateng. Anyway he plays better football than Allegri, so he’ll be welcome
