Urby: “PSV will be tough, competition with Constant is good”

URBY EMANUELSON is set to face old rivals PSV Eindhoven and is not afraid of some competition for a starting spot.

The last time Milan played a UCL game in Holland the year was 2011 and a Urby Emanuelson played for the other team – Ajax – and even passed the ball to Luis Suarez who nutmegged Nesta and passed to El Hamdaoui who scored.

Milan are in the Netherlands right now and are getting ready for the first leg of the Champions League qualifier against PSV. Emanuelson could start this game from his new-old left-back position and he hopes Milan can return with an advantage.

“It will be a tough game. They have started their league programme while we are in pre-season so we will see how it goes in a competitive match. We want a good result in our favour to take into the second leg next week,” Emanuelson told the press on Monday. “Between Ajax and PSV there is a good rivalry. When I played in Holland we played for the championships.

“They have always been a good team and this year they are young but have great quality. We have changed compared to when Mark van Bommel played with us. Also we have a young team but not as young as PSV are. For me, it is important to play this year, I returned to Milan and the coach has played me at left-back. I think that’d be my position. This match is very important for us. There is a good competition between me and Constant for the LB spot but Kevin is a friend, we talk a lot.

“Let’s see who will play tomorrow.” At the moment Constant is favourite to start. Mattia De Sciglio is of course unavailable due to an injury but could return in time for the Saturday game against Hellas Veroa at Stadio Marc’Antonio Bentegodi.
