Official: Abbiati signs contract extension to 2014

CHRISTIAN ABBIATI has signed a contract extension and will stay at club for at least one more year.

Adriano Galliani confirmed it a few weeks ago but now it’s official: Milan goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has signed a contract extension that will keep him at the club for another season, after yet another impressive season defending the Milan goal.

Abbiati is the first to have his future resolved as there are still many other players – and the coach Massimiliano Allegri as well – who are waiting on the club to approach them and tell them what their future holds. Christian is set to stay at Milan.

Allegri: “Players and fans deserved it, I have a contract at Milan”

“AC Milan wishes to communicate that Christian Abbiati has extended his contract with the club to 30 June 2014,” a statement on Milan’s website reads on Monday. “I’ve renewed for one more season,” Abbiati told the press at the end of last night’s match against Siena. “I’m very happy that I will be able to continue my adventure here. Milanello is my home.”

Abbiati joined the club in 1998, winning three Scudetti with the Rossoneri. Should Massimo Ambrosini leave the club (he will reportedly meet West Ham today), Abbiati, 35-years-old, will most likely be the captain of the Rossoneri next season.

Obviously,Abbiati can’t reach their age limit b4 retirement.. I mean Friedel,Van der saal,Toldo,Dida are very quick and active but Christ Abbiati looks Rigid and a bit slooooooooooooooooooooooow……
But Abbiati is very strong on the goal post,i remember the game against Hulk when he was shwoing ow strong he was

yeah @ nanan fynn he s like brad friedel very old and still very good….tho friedel is older than him……….forza abbiati…forza milan

Listen..there’s going to be an official meeting between Allegri M.,Silvio B. and Galliani A. this wednesday..
From what i’ve read so far in this room,i’ve observed that there three different sets of fans. (1)Those who love Milan and also love M.Allegri (2)Those who love Milan but hate M.Allegri and (3)Those who love Milan with what milan have… Though, the gentleman is having a year left in his contract but his future is iffy.. What do you all think?

I say that we can’t get better than Allegri now. So many big clubs will change coach, i believe that Allegri should work with this squad for another year, and build something out of youngsters as he did this year. He’ll have a better squad next year than this year. After that, we can discuss weather we wan’t him or not. Now, i think he did what we was waiting for. Made a consistent (so called ugly) play, what is effective in the Serie A. He surely will bring the squad to CL next year too. And if we don’t… Read more »
