RICCARDO MONTOLIVO, Abate, De Sciglio, Balotelli and El Shaarawy are part of Prandelli’s 31-man squad.
The World Cup will be held in Brazil in 2014 so this summer the Confederation Cup will be played in the Samba Land and Italy will take part of it after finishing the 2012 Euro’s as runner-ups to Spain, who’re also the current World Cup champions.
Coach Cesare Prandelli named his initial 31-man squad for the games and there are five Rossoneri players in the list, which will be cut to 23 players on June 3rd. The Azzurri will start training at Coverciano on Monday, May 20th.

Ignazio Abate, Mattia De Sciglio, Riccardo Montolivo, Stephan El Shaarawy and Mario Balotelli have been included in the preliminary list. De Sciglio earned his Italy debut on March 2013 and his great performances have got him a place in the Confederation Cup squad. Montolivo, El Shaarawy and Balotelli as well as Abate have all had a great season with Milan.
Giampaolo Pazzini has not been called-up by Prandelli, although Pazzini has managed to score 15 Serie A goals. Before going to Brazil, Italy will play a San Marino friendly on May 31st, and a WC qualifier against Czech Republic on June 7th.

I think it’s only Prandelli playing his favouritism, as he favoured Gilardino ahead of Pazzo in his viola days, Gila has been good since he joined Bologna, but Pazzini has had a great season if you think about it, no pre season with the team, a lot of injuries that have halted him, but have still managed 15 goals, 16 in total. Plus, he’s not always been a starter, something which shows what a great poacher he is. Anyhow, if Poli joins us, we’ll have six players in that squad which is pretty cool.

But when Pazzini comes to a match he usually scores, when Bojan enters nothing happens. Im not saying that Pazzini is better, or that Bojan sucks, but is easier to defend an attacker that actually scores.. in this case doesnt matter agaisnt who, because sometimes we cant scores against shitty teams.. Italy already have 2 creative attacking starters, SES and Balo, so Pazzini/Gillardino/Giovinco are going to be an alternative to some kind of games when things are difficult, or when we need a player to tap in..
