Boateng testifies in Pro Patria fans’ trial

KEVIN-PRINCE BOATENG was a witness in the trial of the six Pro Patria fans who racially abused Milan’s players.

It’s been more than two months but the Pro Patria (Lega Pro Seconda Divisione A) incident is still fresh and today there was a trial for the six Pro Patria fans who abused Milan’s black players during the friendly on January 3rd at Busto Arsizio.

The Milan players famously left the pitch following the racist insults and the friendly had to be cancelled as the Rossoneri wouldn’t go back to the pitch. Kevin-Prince Boateng spoke again today, during the trial, about the ugly episode.

Salamon: “Patience and small steps the keys to success”
Galliani: “Milan reacted well, the fans are fantastic”

“Every time I touched the ball I received chants, boos that sounded very much like a sound an animal would make,” Boateng said. “I think they insulted me because my skin is not white. This happened in Germany as well and it is clearly an act of racism.” Boa has become the flag bearer of the racism fight and he’ll attend an UN racism event, and meet Blatter.

Massimiliano Allegri, Daniele Bonera, Massimo Ambrosini and M’Baye Niang also answered questions during the trial. Coach Allegri stated that Milan “were very shocked and saddened” after the event and that Boateng “wasn’t calm in the next days.” Milan center back Daniele Bonera added that Boateng, who was born in Germany to an ethnic German mother and Ghanaian father, “was insulted every time he touched the ball, and the colored players were very disappointed.”

Boateng couldn’t stand the racist chants (and chants against his girlfriend Melissa Satta as one witness noted) so he kicked the ball at the Pro Patria fans. The six fans were identified by the footage of security cameras. The next hearing is scheduled for April 23rd, when Stephan El Shaarawy and Sulley Muntari, as well as defense witnesses, will testify.

In other news, Milan have announced they will have a friendly match on Friday against FC Sion whom Gennaro Gattuso coaches and plays for at Stadio San Siro. “We will play on Friday at 3pm and seeing as we know that a lot of fans would like to come and watch the match and support Gattuso, we decided to play it at San Siro, open for all to come,” Galliani said.

There is an international break and there are some players that are with their national squads: Abate, De Sciglio, Montolivo, El Shaarawy and Balotelli are with Italy, Salamon is with Poland, Yepes and Zapata with Colombia and Muntari with Ghana.

Those fans were a disgrace to the game and deserve whatever punishment they receive. Great for Boateng to stand up to racism on an international level.
Forza Milan!
