Pro Patria-Milan cancelled due to racist chants

THE FRIENDLY between the sides ended after 26 minutes due to racist chants from Pro Patria’s fans.

Milan returned to playing today (Thursday) as they took on Aurora Pro Patria 1919 from the Italian fourth division but the game stopped 26 minutes into the first half due to racist chanting from Pro Patria’s fans.

Pro Patria’s fans racially abused M’Baye Niang, Sulley Muntari and Kevin-Prince Boateng and it was Boateng who showed their fans what he thinks about racism as he shoot the ball at them (video below).

Happy New Year!
Allegri: “Youth is the right way, Milan need time”

The scoreline was 0-0 when the shameful episode happened. According to Sky Italia, it was Captain Massimo Ambrosini who walked into the pitch from the bench to tell his friends to get off the pitch. Apparently even Stephan El Shaarawy, who plays for the Italy national team, was the victim of this racism.

“We are disappointed and saddened by what has happened,” Milan boss Massimiliano Allegri said. “Milan play for the right to respect all players. We need to stop these uncivilized gestures. We are sorry for all the other fans who came here for a beautiful day of sport. We promise to return, and we are sorry for the club and players of Pro Patria, but we could not make any other decision. I hope it can be an important signal.”

Milan decided to end the match and will return to Milanello for a light training session. The Rossoneri, who today sent a strong message against racism, return to playing on January 6 when Siena visit San Siro.

what was the scoreline?

I’m proud of you Boateng, and anyone who stands up against racism in football.

R kenny

Absolutely shameful by those fans. I applaud Milan for leaving the match. No one should be subjected to chants like that.

All honour to Boa for what he did. #Respect

absolutely shocking. its meant to be a friendly, but the fans just ruin it. not what ac milan needs, players could lose morale

Forza Milan !!

Respect for Boa and the whole milan team for leaving

Well done, especially to Ambro, acting like a true captain but also as a great human being, it was the right thing to do. It’s 2013… that racism is still a subject nowadays is shocking for me, well done ragazzi, I hope that the animals who chanted racist things get punished somehow.
Low life scums.

Hats off to the guys for taking a stand against such narrow-minded buffoonery.
