Highlights: Zenit 2-3 Milan

42

AN IMMENSE Christian Abbiati brought Milan the three points from the Petrovsky Stadium in Russia against Luciano Spalletti’s FC Zenit St. Petersburg. Milan started the game very well as they found the back of the net 13 minutes in, as Urby Emanuelson’s free kick took a deflection and beat Zenit’s goalkeeper Vyacheslav Malafeev. Three minutes later, Stephan El Shaarawy scored an amazing solo goal, beating a goalkeeper for the fifth time in the last three games. After El Shaarawy’s goal, Zenit took control of the game and got fantastic saves out of Abbiati (finished the game with an amazing stat of 10 key saves). At the end of the first half, Hulk beat Abbiati after Cristian Zapata failed to stop him (45+2′). Four minutes into the second half, Zenit found the equalizer through veteran striker Roman Shirokov (49′). Zenit pushed hard to get the third and in the end, another Zenit player scored but luckily for Milan, it was to his own net as Tomás Hubocan brought the lead back to the Rossoneri with an own goal (75′). Milan were not very impressive but got a very important win at a tough country and stadium.

El Sharawy again…again…and again, we should call him supershara-milan , just like we used to call superpippo for pippo inzhagi. Bright future ahead for him, a new milan star since he already had scored in champions league. Bravo and “selamat” for milan.

The Team won and Bonera and Sharaaway had another great game.

Abbiati was d embodiment of d true Milan.

I do not want to see Boateng, Bojan, Pazzini and Nocerino in this team next season. They are just a waste of space.

I do not want Guardiola in this Club.
He only knws hw to Coach Barcelona (which really isn’t hard).

Get me Mbiwa, Kaka and Dos Santos in January and give Tassoti a chance if Allegri is sacked eventually and this club wud be in next seasons champions league

Man. I’d say go for Eriksen and Strootman. De seglio on the left or maybe Vargas. No more Antonini crap. We are set to go. And yes to Tassotti

as soon as I saw that line-up I thought Milan had a good chance, one of the very first times in 2+ years Allegri has used common sense. The next time he thinks of fielding his usual terrible team selection, he should stop and put this one out!

forza milan! please berlusconi we need an attacking midfield instead of boateng, ERIKSEN is ideal for milan.
The defence was awful, espescially antonini.

Wow just wow, some of your comments you are the same people who want Zapata now look at your mighty Zapata, now he not Milan quality. Allegri knows more than you simple.

i think zapata did well even if he made that mistake there was nothing else he could do if bonera was in that position he would never be able to catch hulk but zapata is our fastest centre back and hulk’s pace was to much in the end
he will get better just like thiago silva did he wasnt the best centre back in the world when he first came give a chance

Do you know when Nesta was on his peak? When he was 30, in 2006-07 season. Zapata can still improve, it’s usual for a centre-back to peak near the 30s or in their 30s.

Even Yepes’ peak was when he was at 28 between 34.

silva was 24-25 when Milan bought him, guess how old zapata is.. dont just splurt out anything.

We finally caught a break though Zenit situation is worse then ours at the moment. Note Galliani you can’t have huge differences on wages between teammates and expect everyone to be satisfied. Thats whats happening at Zenit with Hulk and Witsel out earning everyone by a huge margin.

I think we will be ok if we can finally fix our defense in January

Fooooorza milan! My God liveth. I believe in this new milan. Once muntari is fit,and pato is hundred percent fit too. The formation will be: abbiati, abate, zapata, mexes,de-sciglio.de-jong muntari,montolivio,el-sharrawy,pato,bojan./Niang

I don’t understand, why de Jong and Muntari in the same line-up. We don’t need two defensive midfielders, unless Montolivo plays in the Pirlo-role.

I couldn’t believe how well Milan played in the first 30 minutes. I’m not just talking about the goals. I’m talking about the fluidity of their passes and ability to keep possession. They came out strong and fast too. Their pace and passing decreased during the game. If we could just play liked they did in the first 30 minutes we might have a chance against some of the stronger teams.

Guy antonini played very d only problem we had 2day in our defence ix zapata he’s nt milan quality at all, he cant even pass d ball talkless of clearing. I agree he’s fast bt d fastness is useless without xperience. Forza abbiati true leader Forza el sharrawy proved hero Forza montolivo gr8 passer and good tackles..

Emanuelson. Why is nobody giving him the credit he deserves? That guy is giving everything. With SES in his best possible form, with hope that Pato come back as strong as he was, and Bojan who can improve, I can see a very bright future.

Congrat for the win. Great result. I have said so many times, there are 2 players in milan that cannot deliver good passes, boateng + abate. As for boateng, his lack of vision and his selfishness are ruining milan teamwork. What does allegri expect from this sex machine? Boateng’s brain is probably loaded with sex, sex and sex. Boateng is truly a disaster for milan.

have you forgotten what je was like for the last 2 seasons? he is integral to this team. BUT, he needs to be put back to where he belongs in the midfield and not have the pressure of being the main man for attack. I think robihno or montolivio should be tested there if we are playing a trequartista.
but i would prefer a 4-3-3 with a midfield of Urby-De Jong- Boateng

I agree with gioele romeo.
Boateng suffers from playing in an uncomfortable role, I would like to use him in the midfield if we’re playing 4-3-3.

Starting 11 against Nerazzurri?
Abbiati; Abate, Zapata, Acerbi, De Sciglio; Boateng, de Jong, Montolivo; Bojan, Robinho, El Shaarawy.

But I really would like to see Urby too, maybe Montolivo can move to the right and replace Boateng on the left. Urby is originally a left midfielder so it would be a lot more comfortable for him to play in this role.

What is irritating me is why Allegri rotating the back four the whole time. Count on Abate and let De Sciglio grow at the other side, then we got Bonera (who did a good job today, calm and steady on the ball) Mexes (just that he is a walking red card) and Zapata i can see do a great spell long as we let him learn how the others play together, the guy just came as a right back (even if he played as centerback during his time in Udinese) from Vilarreal if im not wrong and have started 2… Read more »

I’ll start by saying that the result, was great for us, an incredible morale boosting win, you could how happy the players were after the game and how much it meant, I think we have a united squad. I really liked that we tried out 4-2-3-1, I think it was succesful, even though we switched back to 4-3-1-2 when Noce came on. All Allegri haters, he’s giving you the players you want to see, plus tactical flexibility, we’ve already played 4-3-1-2, 4-3-2-1, 4-3-3 and 4-2-3-1 this season, more than in two years combined. I liked that he continued giving Bojan… Read more »

*de sceglio – had better cross + good shot from dinstance
*muntari – more muscle/hard then ambro + young
*pato must 200% fit and clinical like first season.

January NO DOUBT milan need new CB.
from last match, once yepes enter, then we seen our back can won the header. we strugling from set peace. 2 new CB is urgent for milan. Mbiwa + benatia/andreoli i suggest.

Im not going to lie i think we are sorted in the midfield and partially sorted in attack, perhaps a classy attacking midfielder might seal the deal to link our rigid defensive midfield to our attack. However, i do feel that we still lack the class at the back which is very uncharacteristic for any italian club let alone Milan! I think we are going to need a partnership of mexes and mbiwa, both speak the same language and both could coordinate one another. So since everyone is suggesting who we should get, my only 2 buys would mbiwa and… Read more »

A good win, we just need to find the best form to some of our key players like: Boateng, Montolivo, Nocerino, Robinho, and get Pato, Strasser and the others back. We need to play more from the sides and cross low balls to the short post and that’s something Abate need to learn, same thing on the left (and please play De Sciglio, and don’t let Dídac Vilá go without giving him a chance joust so we don’t regret him) Than in January we get Strootman DM and Wijnaldum RAM and get Emanuelson to where he belongs on the left… Read more »

Have you all noticed that acerbi is our best defender in heading? If allegri really want to improve milan’s defence, he needs to put zapata as milan’s left back (with de sciglio on right back). Just like juventus with chiellini as their wing back. So, the best four backlines are : de sciglio (RB) – bonera (CB) – acerbi (CB) – zapata (LB). Zapata has speed that is useful to cover acerbi. Acerbi is good in the air and he has ability to read the game. Bonera is the leader in backlines and de sciglio is milan best).
