MILAN are looking for a new defensive midfielder and the Italian media is already guessing who it’ll be.
Milan’s squad is almost complete according to Adriano Galliani and Coach Massimiliano Allegri as they are only missing another midfielder, one who can play in front of the defense, in order to be competitive.
It was believed that Riccardo Montolivo was signed to play the role of the regista and replace Mark Van Bommel but Milan are looking for a defensive midfielder now as Monty will be playing as a right-midfielder.

The Italian media is already full of names that meet Milan’s requirements. il Corriere dello Sport claims that Milan have set their sights on Real Madrid’s Fernando Gago (26). Gago spent the last season on loan at Roma but was not bought out. The newspaper also suggests the name of Napoli’s Luca Cigarini (26).
According to TMW, the respected journalist Gianluca Di Marzio and the newspaper Tuttosport , Milan are keen on Nuri Sahin (23) of Real Madrid who has found limited time under Jose Mourinho last season as he was injured and out of form. Sahin is tied to a contract with Los Blancos until 2017 but can leave. La Gazzetta dello Sportreports the name of another Real man, Lassana Diarra (27), who’ll surely leave them.
The newspapers also say the alternatives to these names are Sandro (23) of Tottenham and Nigel De Jong (27) of Man City but these players would be harder to get. It’s not clear what kind of a regista Milan are looking for, whether an Andrea Pirlo kind of midfielder or a Mark Van Bommel kind as they’re very different.
Meanwhile, La Gazzetta says that Mathieu Flamini has changed his mind and he wants to stay at Milan. Galliani said that Flamini’s time at Milan is over but he apparently called Milan and said he wants to stay.

Kick Flamini’s overpaid ass out. Nuri Sahin is best choice. Strootman would be ideal but he isn’t a regista. Same as Sandro and De Jong.

Milan has so far spent 4,5 million euros (+ 8M on Ibra) on new players so far with Montolivo and Traore joining for free and Constant on a loan. They have rid themselves of 25+ million euros in wages and could save some more by selling Robinho. I’m not sure on the salaries of Muntari, Montolivo and Traore but Acerbi signed for 0,75M per year, Garbiel is hardly making any “big” money in my estimation. Sahin or Sandro is what we need, but both of them are different, Sandro is more the MvB type, while Sahin is more like Pirlo. But a big NO to Gago, and Lass doesn’t even play as a regista, so if we get him, it wouldn’t be the best alternative… Cigarini wouldn’t be that bad if he can grow, when he was younger, he was touted as the heir to Pirlo… But Strootman would be good too for the regista position. In my opinion Strootman, Cigarini, Paulinho, or Sahin are the best options all four are creative mids that are well capable of scoring and most importantly who can fill the regista position.
In My opinion, we don’t need another deep lying MF. It would be total loss of having monty there in team if he can’t play as regista. What We need is playmaking trequartista more than regista i.e more creativity upfront. After KAKA we still haven’t been able to find his true replacement And Apart of Boa(which i truly think is more suitable for RCM Role), we have no player to play in this position. I completely agree that Kaka and his alround package as a natural trequista is yet to be replaced within the squad. Kpb is too good to just drop to the bench so best solution is let Monty take the regista role and let Kpb take up the RCM as Nocerino is also too good to just drop to the bench soo he takes LCM. the problem is keeping kbp motivated while he plays in the rcm role. whenever he has not played cam for us, it feels like his performances are restricted. its like putting a tiger in a cage. kbp gives us something unique in the cam role so i think he should continue there. i do agree we should sell robinho, but monty shud play on the right and nocerino or constant on the left. we should get a midfielder who can pass well and also do defensive work in the regista role(easier said than done). just my opinion though. i agree… Read more »

Everyone here wants the player of his own choice, but then how hard is it to understand that it’s Allegri who is the main man to chose the players in his starting XI, I say if we get a good right back, We are better than most and will go deep into our squad selection. i thought that bakaye traore is a DMF. so, what is this guy position in midfields? RM? LM?
if acerbi is really good and mexes is in his top performace, i prefer to have thiago silva as milan regista. sure, acerbi and mexes can secure the backline easily.
my suggestion is : sign the best defender like gary cahill. he is the key player for chelsea in winning the latest CL.
