Milan give up on Tevez, for now

ADRIANO GALLIANI was convinced he’s signing Carlos Tevez on Friday, but talks with City collapsed.

Milan announced the signing of Catania’s Maxi Lopez on loan with option to buy him in the summer, after they failed in negotiations with Manchester City, and it’d seemed as though Milan and City would agree.

Rossoneri CEO Adriano Galliani spent more than 3 hours in his office trying to find a deal but the English side decided to reject Milan’s latest offer for the Argentine target man as they wanted to add a clause.

Official: Maxi Lopez joins Milan on loan
Highlights: AC Milan 3-1 S.S Lazio

Milan had intended to take Tevez on loan with an option to sign him in the summer if a player is sold (rumours say Alexandre Pato or Robinho), and if a sale wouldn’t happen, they would extend the loan with January 2013 and then the buy will be forced. However, with the clause, City wanted to impose a penalty on Milan (of €24m allegedly) if they had not bought Tevez in summer. An agreement couldn’t be reached.

“At 18:30 [on Friday] I was convinced that Tevez would join us,” Galliani told the press after leaving the HQ. “We were very close. It was still very important because we have solved some misunderstandings born in recent days with City. Relations with the English club are much improved, but patience, life goes on.

“Will Tevez stay at City? I don’t know what will happen in these last few days of the transfer window. The market will reopen in four months – we’ll see. Tevez was ready to fly to Italy. It’s a shame,” Uncle Fester then added: “I would like to publicly thank him for waiting. We will talk to Manchester City again in June.

“Obviously we couldn’t sign both Tevez and Maxi and therefore it will end like this, for now, as we can’t have so many strikers. I was in constant contact with Tevez’ agent. They had already organized their trip to Italy and I’m sorry for that. Our relations with City are good again, and therefore anything can happen now.”

Tevez is therefore expected to stay at Manchester City, where he’s not playing following a rift with Roberto Mancini. Paris Saint-Germain will be in the race also in the summer if Milan try again in that window.

Berlusconi never like the guy. i hate to admit but Milan are too cheap other may call it Market strategy yeah Noccerino proved that cheap is not always bad smh. Now Mekerel is also lets see they are willing to spend about 5mil on Montolivo. anyway i have this strange feeling Maxi will suprise.

rickard

thats good because we don´t need more strikers

Silas

We would have sell more replica jerseys if he had come
He is too good

vicente

@silas
I was going to buy his replica jersey, but i will have to wait till summer.

Luca

if tevez doesn’t play at least 15% of games at city, he could sue Man city and take them to court under FIFA Rules. his contract could get rescinded. City are fools.

Silas n vincent say it again. Why do we always want cheap things. We can buy quality player who are stars n sell their jersey to get profit. It seems our mgt are not market conscious.

rickard

we are not cheap we are smart. why pay much when you can pay little just look at our deals zlatan 20 millions cassano 4 millions mexes free

Nyemasem

@rickard, will milan sell their players for cheap. Do unto others what u want others to do to u. We are not smart but rather we cheat.

Yehez Kiel

you cant cheat in deals! so what your point was weak and invalid

lets us forget Tevez episosed. We should hope the Milan Montolivo now before the window closes. We did not sogn Tevez now does not mean we cant sign in him in the summer but truly we must offload one of Robinho, Pato, or Cassano if Tevez must arrive. For now our problem is in the midfield and not foward. I hope Maxi delivers else we will ship him back to catania. Period.
