El Shaarawy: “I am staying at Milan”

STEPHAN EL SHAARAWY is delighted with his performance and goal against Novara.

Milan are through to the next round of the Coppa Italia, where they will meet Lazio, after defeating Novara Calcio at Stadio San Siro. A game simple on paper, but only on paper as Milan struggled a bit for the win.

The Man of the Match on Wednesday night was undoubtedly Stephan El Shaarawy. The youngster was given the nod alongside Filippo Inzaghi and scored the first goal of Milan and was very lively in the attack.

“When I’m given the chance, I always try to give the best I can and I think I succeeded tonight. I’m staying here, both the coach and Galliani have said it and I’m happy about that,” El Shaarawy told Milan Channel after the game, which dragged into extra time, where Alexandre Pato scored the winner to make it 2-1.

“It was a very tough game. We had a few chances in the second half to tie it up and we could have done it earlier, but we put all the intensity possible into the game to get the right result and we did it. It was important to get through to the quarter finals,” added the player whose playing time has been limited so far.

“Playing with players like Pato and Robinho brings the best out of me. I’m lucky. I’m not sure if I’ll play on Sunday but I’ll keep on training. After that it’s the coach who makes the decisions. I dedicate the goal to my family and my brother who always come to the stadium to give me support. I scored with diagonal shot and I hope I’ll score more.” El Shaarawy’s performance against Novara certainly gave Allegri food for thought.

“Merkel had a good game. El Shaarawy played well and has grown a lot, especially in the last two months and he’ll definitely do well. El Shaarawy will stay with Milan, but I was sure of this even before the game,” the Rossoneri boss, Allegri, said. “The game showed that we have young players with good prospects.

“I wanted us to approach the game well, to win and to get through to the next round. The players showed great character and professionalism. We’ll have to be ready again on Sunday, it’ll be a hard game in a ground we haven’t played on yet.” Milan face Novara again on Serie A and will play on a synthetic pitch.

Boateng ruled out so SES could play in AM ! I think he is better than urby…Isnt he?

greg

yeh but we’ve learned that Allegri doesn’t do things logically, I bet we’ll see Nocerino there next!

truly a good news.
imo, allegri needs to find an alternative solution when ibra/binho/pato play really bad. besides shaarawy, i want allegri gives the opportunities to kingsley boateng to play. i do hope that whoever plays on midfields (either nocerino, KPB, aquilani or merkel) can help the attacks and score from outside/inside penalty box.

I’m concern about our midfield with injuries. I don’t want another defeat from england teams.

danrondo

He has nothing else to prove . Just keep using him and hope merkel does not sit for the senators

El Shaarawy played a great game and was the best player on the pitch for the entire 120 minutes!
