GIANLUCA ZAMBROTTA hopes to make reach his 100-games mark for Italy.
Zambrotta returned to Milan’s XI in the game against Catania, and even scored one of Milan’s 4 goals at Stadio San Siro, and helped Milan win. Now he says that he hopes he can help Italy win as well.
The former Barcelona man was a regular for Marcello Lippi’s side but age has taken its tally and Zambro lost his place in Cesare Prandelli’s Azzurri. Yet, he wants to get back and wear the blue colors again.

“I’ve won 98 caps for Italy and one day I hope to reach the 100 mark. That would be an important achievement,” Zambrotta, who will be turning 35 in February, told Sport Mediaset. “For now all I can do is try to give my very best for Milan when Massimiliano Allegri picks me in the team. Then I just have to hope…”
“My goal against Catania? Finally. It’s always nice to score and then when you makes a performance like that… I am happy and satisfied with my goal. I’m missing the Champions League trophy. That is the most important Cup at club level that I haven’t been able to win. I went close with Juventus in 2003. I hope to be able to lift that trophy before the end of my career. Actually, it would be nice if we could win it this season.”
Zambrotta, who also claimed Zlatan Ibrahimovic has matured, fights Taye Taiwo and Luca Antonini over a spot a Max Allegri’s starting XI. Zambro isn’t part of Italy’s squad but Ignazio Abate starts for them tonight.

I think Maggio plays best in a more advanced position…. perhaps… Maggio should play in midfield for Italy… but I don’t know. Abate is far better then both of them defensively.
