ANDREA PIRLO will return to this stadium for the first time since leaving.
Milan and Juventus face each other tonight (20:45) for the 21st edition of the Trofeo Berlusconi, but the real story is the return of former Rossoneri maestro Andrea Pirlo to San Siro for the first time since leaving.
Pirlo spent 10 great years for Milan, pulling the strings in midfield as he led Milan, along with other great legends, to European and domestic success. However, he decided leave Milan and join Juventus instead.
“I will feel an emotion, but sooner or later it was likely that I would be playing against Milan,” Pirlo, 32 year-old is quoted as saying on the Italian newspaper La Stampa. “It’s best to get stuck in straight away.”
Rino Gattuso, Sandro Nesta and Pippo Inzaghi have all spoken to the press about their memories from Pirlo, and Andrea says that he does not forget them either. “Relations do not end just because you move away. I had to change as everyday was the same, and I wanted a fresh challenge,” the Italy man added.
Pirlo made his “debut” as a regista nine years ago, in the Trofeo Luigi Berlusconi 2002 against Juventus.
