River Plate in Nacional B: Lamela’s price halved?

52

ERIK LAMELA’S price has massively gone down in the last month, reports suggest.

River Plate suffered a first relegation in all of the 110 years, and while it is certainly a sad event for football lovers across the globe (or happy if you are Boca Juniors fans), Italian teams could take advantage of it.

The Argentine club possess some very interesting young prospect when the best of them is Erik Lamela.

Milan: Two center-backs available for pre-season
Man United’s Park Ji-Sung on Milan’s radars?

Lamela has been linked with a host of clubs, including AC Milan, Napoli and Roma and now while it is very likely he will say goodbye to The Millionaires, his price is much more attractive now following the relegation.

According to Milannews.it, River demanded €15 million for the left-footed playmaker, and before the relegation playoffs they wanted €8m. However, now, they would ask for nothing more than just €6 million.

It remains to be seen whether Lamela is still wanted by Milan as he might not be what Coach Massimiliano Allegri needs in his team. Director Ariedo Braida likes the player very much and has been following him.

What a horrible time for River Plate. Yes, Lamela’s price did collapse. River Plate has been relegated, and is also in financial trouble. For 6 million euros, you can’t go wrong. EU status is always an issue… but I think we should move for Lamela. I know… you’ll say… what about Ganso? Well… if that doesn’t work out, Lamela is an option… and I believe Lamela can play deeper too.

MilanFan

As far as I know, Lamela has an Italian passport.

Tafiardo Cardoso

he has a spain passport exactly

Yehez Kiel

why would he have an italian passport?

Rick

Many Argentines qualify for Italian passports because there was a great migration from Italy to Argentina about a century ago. Probably half the country can trace roots back to Italy. It is my understanding that his passport is Italian. Although I have no personal knowledge, I’ve seen it referred to as an Italian passport in many places, including in at least one previous article that was published recently on this very site.

Yehez Kiel

oh yeah.. sorry, i forgot about that fact when i made that comment.. but why spanish passport?

inzaghi88

lol that’s true. that’s probably a reason why Messi has an Italian-sounding family name :P

Giancarlo

Um, some Spaniards also went to Argentina in the 1920s and 1930s, around the time of the Spanish Civil War for political reasons. Argentina was a prime location.

Dex-tr

we won’t say what about Ganso
we say GET HIM

Marmotix

He is just 19 years old he can become a legend.Get HIM!!!
We need 3-4 goood players on each post if we want to win UCL.Trust me get him now and sell him later for much more money at least.:)

wcsg

3-4 good player for each position? What, do you expect Milan to carry a 40 man roster?

milanfan

you do know that we’re planning to reduce our squad size to 25 players, right? although i hope we do that next season, because then we’ll lose lots of players to old age – it’ll be the perfect time to trim our squad

ronaldinho1992

we dont need him now we have el shaarawy sorry lamela too late we only need ganso for lcm and maybe vidal but he is not as important as ganso

AGIRI

we should get him..6m is very good..wenger must be thinking about a move now

AGIRI

dude..for 6m??? get him now!!!!!!!!!!!!! we can always loan him to our teamB, GENOA

ROHAN

dont worry guys…we r not gonna get any of these brazilian youngsters….our mr.X n big player of this season will be cesc fabregas …he will play as LCM with robinho as CAM……i rather wish we had gone for nasri as wenger wont sell him to manure and he said he lyks italian football….also fabregas said dat it would be an honour to play for milan.

brother

He’s a better option than Park at least :D
Milan could take him as an very optional situation…

superhary

what? 6M..!! i will go to sign him without a doubt. not just his value is very cheap now, but i think Lamela can play the mezz’ala role very well.

Pato Is Brilliant

We should stop following Hamsik. Lamela is a real deal.

nick

Lamela is overrated. He is not worth the risk or the money. I’ve watched his games and I dont understand why anyone would think Lamela is a better option than Hamsik.

2kpb7

you cant say an 18 year old is real deal. . . he is a great prospect but i mean its always a toss up when talking about kids this age

Rico

lamela + fabregas = milan ucl winner 2012

nick

Milan already signed El Shaarawy, so why would Milan sign Lamela who virtually plays the same position as El Shaarawy? Milan will not sign Lamela, that would be a waste of money after already signing a similar player in El Shaarawy.

The only true posibilities are Fabergas,Ganso,Hamsik, Arturo Vidal, Essien or (Schweinsteiger if Bayern decided to sell him).

Shervin

Man how have we been linked in every single player in the world but not Lucas from brazil (not liverpool prick lucas)? He is absoletely amazing player. Hes almost to fast for himslef, but we would became so good.

Giancarlo

Um, Nick this is where you’re totally wrong. Lamela is not overrated and certainly not overpriced. His price has collapsed and we should certainly make this move. It would not be a great financial cost.

Dark Knight

I have to agree with giancarlo on this one.. at 6m this is a steal.. consider 16m for handerson :P paid by liverpool .. or even 10m for half of el sharawy paid by milan.. i cant see how el sharawy is 3 and a half times the player lamela is. we can always loan out el sharawy as he has no experience in serie a so give him back to genoa for experience if he turns out to be the real deal bring him back or sell his half for a profit if he doesnt turn out to be… Read more »

Giancarlo

This is why I’m in favor of this move. If it doesn’t work out, we wouldn’t have lost a ton of money. As far as passports, keep an eye out tomorrow… the FIGC Will be handing down its ruling.

nick

lamela is overrated regardless of his cut price. Lamela is a player with potential there is nothing EXCEPTIONAL about him. Besides why still waste that money on Lamela when we already have El Shaarawy?

Thats a bad investment especially for a 18yr kid with just potential! Lamela is nowhere on psr with players like Lucas and Neymar. Total waste of money! Milan wont sign Lamela-pointless investment!

Dark Knight

@nick.. how is he a pointless investment please do enlighten us.. half of elsharaway = 10m so total 20m atleast? .. 100% of lamela = 6m.. how is THAT a bad investment.. and u people say el sharaway as if he is the current world player of the year and the 2nd coming of BAGGIO .. what has el sharaway got apart from “potential”? and u dont like just potential so justify that move then?

Giancarlo

Lamela isn’t overrated. In fact he’s not rated that much to begin with. He’s a very young player, nick. Some words for someone who probably has never seen him play. And El Shaarawy? There is a player with potential, but again definitely overrated.

A bad investment? So investing 10 million on an 18 year old Italian is a good investment, yet investing 6 million on an 19 year old Argentine isn’t it? You’re clueless man.

Kenny

Milan should go 4 him if he has EU passport, so ganso can b sign if figc change d rule

nick

@Dark Knight…That is my point! Why buy another 18yr old kid with potential not EXPERIENCE that plays the same position as another 18yr old player that we already have signed in El Shaawary? If the team has a transfer budget limit why waste any of it on a player that we dont need, regardless if its only 6mil? We can use that money to put towards buying other players that would strengthen the squad in other areas. I say again there is nothing exeptional or special about Lamela. Lucas and Neymar are the same age, those two are exceptional players… Read more »

Giancarlo

And El Shaarawy is just a kid with potential… yet some of you, including yourself, are just fine with investing 10 million Euros in him. Give me a break. 6 million is nothing. We made that money on Oliveira’s transfer… Zaragoza just paid us back. We also sold Borriello for 10 million. But I guess you’re just fine blowing 10 million on El Shaarawy, and there is certainly nothing special about him either. Neymar and Lucas are 30 million Euros each, Lamela is 6 million. Lamela is not worth it? And why is that? How is Lamela overrated? He’s not… Read more »

nick

@Giancarlo..what the hell are you talking about? dude…no one was talking to you to begin with. Your comment to me does not make any sense in regards to what I said, so mind your business, and stop jumping into other people’s conversation!

edon

he has a EU passport.and 6 milion is the right price for milan tu buy him

Dark Knight

it is an amazing price!.. and yeh if he has eu passport right now we should like buy him tomorrow before roma gets in.. buy ganso in january.. get toloi now before lazio ruins it and i think we r set

RMilan

What could possibly go wrong with 6M??? You get young talented player. If he has a EU Passport than Galliani can pursue Ganso as well for AM position. Lamela is more realistic option than Cesc or Hamsik…

maf

The man is just 19 years old.

I say buy him for 6 million, and then loan him to Napoli, Udinese or even Arsenal – a team where he can be appreciated and learn. Make his loan 2-3 years so when he is 21-22, he’ll be back @ Milan with both Calcio and EPL – hence European experience.

boateng_ganas

Get him for 6M…he can be great investment

Yehez Kiel

guys, i dont think he has an eu passport.. hes very good and would make an ideal signing.. but he doesnt have an eu passport! this is a better plan.. taiwo gets french passport.. wait for FIGC to change the non-eu rule (which is today – tomorrow) and then get both ganso and lamela!

Ouch!

He’s a similar player to El Shaarawy, but still may be worth investing in especially if he comes for a price under 10mil

TWF

firstly, it is not only milan which pursue him. i don’t think that his price tag dropped significantly to 6m. secondly, if he is really good why he cannot save his club from relegation? thirdly, what milan need is a mature and creative playmaker. not another kid. we want to win scudetto and UCL for the next season, don’t we?

shoaib rizwan

a a single player cannot change a clubs fortune
lamela could not
if milan got relegated would u blame pato or even el sharaawy

AGIRI

jus get him!!!!!!!!!!i can see a future of 4-2-3-1 wv lamela-ganso-el sharaway nd pato upfront…get him now for safekeeping

MOhas

Lamela good player 19-20 Year is still good. Lol Only A player can save a club From relegated ? If dont want relegate need much good plyaer though T.T .Even messi Need xavi iniesta and other T.T to win Cup Or someone Else

Ryan

Rather than PARK get him!!! I believe he can play as a second striker too! He’s the next best option after Ganso for AMF

rossonero23

He signed with Roma…

MOhas

is offical O.o?

Mr.RaZa

If this is true then I think Milan should go for him as soon as possible. Because other teams will find out and they’ll move for him quickly. I think we should get him and loan him out to an italian-team for experience. But 6-8mill, this is a great bargain. I’m not completely sure what type of positions he can play in. I think he’s a LW, gonna have to do some more Youtube-checks.

2kpb7

if this is true at 6 million it is a no brainer. . . even at 10 mil i still think it is a no brainer for one of the brightest stars in south america

Jack

Some guys here should stop acting smart and try to listen to what others say, There is someone here saying investing 6 Mil on Lamela is a bad investment , It may sound bad if you just listen to this, The following comment is why invest in Lamela when we ALREADY have El Shaarawy who probably is the same as Lamela, Its not about investing and how much money, Its about on what and who we are investing. If I have a new car worth 10 million and someone is selling me the same car for 6 million , why… Read more »

TWF

there is a difference between an average player and a really good player. a really good player can bring positive impact to the team. the player can give good example to the team and brings the spirit to win. lamela did not have it. he needs more time to grow.
