Jankulovski says goodbye: “Playing here was a dream”

MAREK JANKULOVSKI is saying goodbye to Milan after six years in Red & Black.

The Czech joined Milan in 2006 from Udinese, but he’s parted ways with Milan this year. Jankulovski’s contract expired and now he’s set to go back to his first club Baník Ostrava to end his career.

“The first [memory] was when I put on the Milan shirt for the first time, thus realizing my dream of playing for the best team in the world,” Janku said. “For me, playing for Milan was a dream come true.

“Coming to Italy from the Czech Republic was a big thing, not everyone has the chance to do it. And I lasted 11 years, six of which I spent at Milan, playing lots of games and being part of many victories.

“Milan is my second home, but things come to an end. Fortunately, the memories remain and looking back on what I accomplished I realise all the great things I could do at Milan.”

It wasn’t an easy season for Jankulovski, who turned 34 in May. He didn’t play until February and then picked up a serious knee injury against Palermo, which ruled him out for six months.

“I thank you all once again, everyone, the management, the club, who allowed me to finish here my recovery process here even if my contract is expiring. This is the umpteenth demonstration how great this club is,” Jankulovski concluded his interview with Milan Channel.
