AC MILAN have apparently narrowed down the options to two midfielders.
The newspapers in Italy suggest today (Tuesday) that AC Milan will sign Andrea Lazzari or Mark van Bommel in January as coach Massimiliano Allegri wants to add one more midfielder to the squad.
There were reports last week that Milan are in talks with Cagliari to sign Lazzari (26), but the last word is of President Massimo Cellino, who has no intention of letting go of his star before the next summer.

Adriano Galliani will return to Italy from Brazil and it appears that he has a meeting scheduled with van Bommel’s (33) agent Mino Raiola – man who also represents Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Robinho.
The two players are two different players; Lazzari is much more of an attacker, while van Bommel mostly plays as a holding midfielder, right in front of the defense, in Massimo Ambrosini’s role.

I think Van Bommel is going to be “more of the same”. He’s 33, on the decline in his career. If he got him on loan, he may help us this campaign for the scudetto. Additionally, I think as long as Ambro stays healthy, he’s the better player between the two anyways.
Lazzari, on the other hand, is a player for the present and the future. We need to do everything we can to help Cagliari find a replacement for him so he can join Milan in January, or the summer in need be.
our attack now is pretty steady with cassano coming in. van bommel would a good addition, some more muscle in midfield and great quality and experience. i’d say van bommel for january since he would be cheaper, and lazzari in the summer after several players (SEEDORF!!) leave and make room.
I think we should wait for lazzari, if van Bommel comes then strasser is going back to the bench and we would lose speed in midfield

Get Lazzari if you can (though I’d prefer Candreva) but please please don’t get Bommel, he’s old, useless, shot temprered and a complete and utter hacker! Get someone different if need be (ahem Ganso!) but DON’T GET BOMMEL

Get Ganso,he is young and would be useful in champions League…van bomnel is old and as played in the champions League this season.dont get Lazari,he does av anything Good to offer.i av watched him several times…there are other better players..Forza Milan.
Lazzari all the way. He’s not doing so well this campaign, but we are Milan! We can get him back to his best, and he has creativity. He will be to replace Seedorf. DONT get Van Bommel, he is frankly nuts when he plays. Keep Strasser in the tackler role instead! Ambrosini and Gattuso may be getting on a bit, but I would play them over Van Bommel.
Van bommel is a bigger red card risk than gattuso and flamini. Just another addition to the fight club. If we get him, we’ll form a UFC or MMA in no time. No arguments here, ANDREA POLI FTW.
@Dave..I agree; I’m not sure about Van Bommel either. Players over 30 are a bigger risk in my opinion because he is as you mention on the decline.
I honestly really dont believe we need him. Milan already have Ambrosini and Flamini that can play in that holding midfield role. I would rather if Milan find a replace for Seedorf and Ronaldinho. Such as Aturo Vidal and Ganso or Lamela would be great!
Lazzari is not a bad option but Aturo Vidal and Ganso are much better in quality!
WE should sign Lazzari because we need an attacking midfield and he’s 26 so he is perfect !!!! We need the scudetto this year and we need so much reinforcements . To renew the squad we need to start by Lazzari. At least bring Van Bommel on loan but we need to buy Lazzari right ???
The obvious choice is Lazzari, but Van Bommel has always been one of my favorite players! He’s a bulldog, a warrior. Definitely better than Ambro or any of the aging mid fielders that we have. Sorry, but Strasser is not Milan Caliber…

For me, we’d bring in young and promising like ganso and one another left sided depender. and then maxi should stop playing these- (seedorf & bonera) I respect them but milan does’nt needs players like them at the moment.
Van Bommel is one of the most antipatic footballist I’ve ever seen. Milan was always famous for its great and beautiful game, please do not ruin our reputation with such a barbarian.
Bommel is just a defensive midfielder, and Strasser is box to box….Rodney is the nxt Essien…c’mon guyz dont make the mistake like we did with Gourcuff

After great summer transfers lets hope we have great winter transfers, not average or bellow average like Van Bommel and Capdevila. Come on we can do better. If we can get them on loan then it’s OK but signing them full time no no no. I would rather see Flamini as LB and promote some young guy to the first team as CM.

Van Bommel is a great player but in the summer he wil turn 34.. We don’t really need him, we got Strasser and Merkel.. they better spend their money for Ganso (from Santos). Milan must get young talented players.
